  • Finally - one with a built in time machine! Or does that just mean it can access 7mate for old reruns of Mash?

Marketing teams name for a PVR

  • I have that tv from the Good guys ebay 20% deal previously.
Pretty good, has all you need in it.
Pretty much the same price as well.

Only negative is the light bleed on the screen in dark scenes is noticeable.

    • Ugh, I went through 2 Panas and 1 LG at 60in because of this.

      • you suggest raising as a warranty issue then?

what do you need to do? just take a photo of the bleed and email them?

I did it via in-store warranty. I knew the manager, but I still had to convince the actual store person which was a slight battle.

I also contacted LG directly, just to see what they would say. For the record, I had video and photo proof of pretty much every LCD tech fault possible, and quite severe. We're talking screen bleeds, dirty screen effect, uneven backlighting, etc - on a $2.5K 'top-end' model. After numerous emails back and forth, LG replied that the there's nothing wrong with it (I could get a tech on-site, but if they found "no problem" then I'd be on the hook for call-out fee).

The end result is thusly - they simply can't guarantee that the manufacturing process will be 100%, at 60inch sizes (larger size, more (profanity) with backlighting required). They pretty much officially said "(profanity) you, that's the best you can get". The conclusion is that buying an LCD tech TV is a massive gamble. I went through 3 TVs, 2 manufacturers. All LCD TV's have these faults, but if you're lucky you'll get a unit where it's barely noticeable most times.

So, take the warranty route in-store first. Only if you think it's worth it - how bad is your backlight bleed? I think you'll have a better time quoting ACCC stuff like "not fit for purpose" etc and intimidating the store-keep for a replacement/swap. If I failed with store I'd be trying harder with the manufacturer, and then using ACCC while threatening to sue the (profanity) out of them.

I eventually got a Pana ST60 plasma TV. Only OLED has hopes to match the picture quality of plasma, and I was done gambling. LCD tech is too shit at large screen sizes. Too bad you can't buy plasma any more.

LG 49" FHD LED Smart 100hz TV $796 - The page you were after lived a good and happy life, but now it is no longer with us. That's ok though, because we have thousands more that are alive and just as great.

Looks like this one is over…

  • Any idea if you can buy the xbox console before the 1st of March, or need to wait till then?

  • Where'd you find the Xbox bundle? I know it says comes out 1/3 but I can't find it anywhere. :(

    • It's in the catalogue

  • Page missing

  • Don't stress guys, the TV Is in the catalogue you will see it 2mrw :)

    • ah yes, its only Wednesday today….

  • Not so sure on the Xbox bundle….The Division doesnt release until the 8th or March…unless they do a pre order or something.

    • The Division comes as a digital code and is playable on 8th :)

      • Thats pretty handy then :)

  • Missed out on this one when it was $716 end of last year. So tempted… Anyone use the PVR function with it - is it any good? Can you record one channel or watch another or is this a limitation being single tuner?

  • Link doesn't work… OP, where did you read about this offer?
    Cheers

      • thanks mate! do you think it is possible to get an even better deal by negotiation in store?

        • Not much stock actually. I rang around and ended up buying from parra westfield.

Ended up charging me only $804 including delivery….not sure how he calculated it.

        • @seijai:

Lucky you, I missed it!! No stock around me… Did you take the floor stock model?

        • New one in box

        • @seijai:

Apparently incorrect price. Is that the same TV?

  • Merged from [JB Hi-Fi] Sony GTK-N1BT $189 (Was $399)

Walked in today into Westfield Hornsby JB and was surprised to see it so cheap. Even dick smith had it for $300+ after their supposed "closing down" sale.

    • That is so cheap! Makes me want to buy it even though I don't need it (in the slightest)!

    • 6 units left @ Hornsby. Not sure how many they have at the back

      • Less $25 welcome credit

    • Maybe add a bit more description to the title, like "portable speaker".

I thought it was a projector, going from the picture.

    • This was $179 back in April 2014: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/140022 Seems too overpriced to me.

    • +1

The manufacturers have never made so much money on simple amp/speakers than today; everyone wants their 'smart' devices connected to them. The profit margin must be huge on these things.

  • Stoked to see the GTK-N1BT for so cheap .. too funny, was at DSE yesterday to see what bargains were to be had (allow to me share.. NONE) but they had this bad boy pumping tunes as I walked in, and I was loving the sound quality .. but for the price tag of $320 there was no chance.. so to see the same one today at JBHIFI it was a no brainer.
