Logitech Harmony Smart Control Universal Remote $90.99 Click and Collect @ Dick Smith

130

I saw this this morning but waited till I got my click and collect order at Dick Smith Burwood NSW to confirm this deal is legit.

When I picked up my order I asked them how much stock they had out back. Answer was they still had some. As is typical with DS sales these aren't being displayed out front. If you walk in to the store and want one you'll have to ask them for it. Or you could try ordering online with click and collect which worked for me.

UPDATE. I just noticed Officeworks also sells this product. Price match anyone?

  • Definitely legit: it's only $10 less than JB Hifi

    • Damn. When did they get so cheap? Not the epic bargain I thought this was then? Best price I ever saw before this was $129 but excluding delivery.

      • +1

I think I paid a similar price about two years ago. For what it's worth, I think it's one of the best purchases I've made. Not having to touch the crappy Onkyo remote more than makes this worth it for me.

I find the smart remote this ships with far better than using the app for what it's worth, and we prefer it to the touch screen remotes. We have an ultimate remote but use this one over that.

I have this for a few years

    very reliable, simple to use

been using logitech smart remotes for close to 10 years

    this is the best

    HOWEVER

you may need your phone/tablet to do troubleshooting

    • Agreed. Been using this for over a year and it's one of the best things I've ever purchased

      • agreed x 2, and with the cloud feature you also can control everything from work and keep the AV confused wife happy(ish).

    Peel smart remote.

    • You mean not much different than using peel smart remote on Samsung phones?

      • Peel smart remote is pretty good. I have a harmony remote as well (not the one in this deal), I hardly use it. Peel smart can control my TV, aircon etc. Best thing is one less device to take care of.

    • The harmony just works better..radio frequency..bluetooth..Wi-Fi control..IFTTT and smartthings integration…

  • Can it also control a split system air conditioner?

    • Pretty sure it can be setup to do this. I remember I was going to program this but then decided against it as I had used all the available action buttons up on other tasks. Best bet is to check the Logitech website and put in the A/C details.

    • Yes, but you can't see what temp it's on so I just use mine for on/off.

  • Website says temporarily out of stock. So is this available in store only?

    • +1

Mobile site shows out of stock but desktop site allows you to order and check availability at stores. That's how I got mine

  • Any idea if this supports IFTT?

I'm a happy user of Harmony 650 and now looking to upgrade.

  • Id be hesitant to click and collect

  • Click and collect from dick smith? Yeah, right… pfft

    • As long as you pay with PayPal or credit card you'll be fine.

  • Nice price.

Better again with Officeworks price match

Use it conjunction with your free woolworths vodafone smart first 3g VF695 mobile and run the Harmony app on it.

  • If any one is looking for the top of the range Harmony Elite, Mwave have a few left in their current group buy special at $345 + shipping: http://www.mwave.com.au/groupbuy (only about 12 hours left though).

  • Too bad most ow in Melbourne are out of stock :(

  • Definitely worth it. I got this a couple of weeks ago for $89.95 from JB Hifi with a 10% voucher!

  • I'm confuse so this is not the actual remote? Why some people said I will need to use a mobile phone as well?

    • It includes a Harmony Hub and a Smart Remote Control (without touch screen). You can use your mobile phone as well as a remote!!

      • So the remote signal need to go through hub first before the TV?

        • +1

The handheld remote (without touchscreen) uses RF to communicate with the hub. I think the hub is all the remote ever speaks to, because you don't need to point the remote at anything. You can hide the remote down the side of the couch and it works.

The hub controls all your devices. In addition to receiving RF, the hub also uses wifi, bluetooth, and infrared. The hub has an IR extender (small LED on a cord) if you need to put the hub in a cabinet, but want the IR transmitter outside the cabinet.

You can optionally use an iPhone, iPad, or Android to control the hub with full touchscreen. That's done over wifi. All the buttons can be arranged and edited within the touchscreen app. You can also use your PC and the Harmony application to setup the hub but not control.

In practise the handheld remote (without touchscreen) is all I use. It is brilliant. Best remote I've ever owned. Battery lasts forever. Very responsive. I love how it uses infrared to control the TV, but TCP/IP and WiFi to control the amplifier, and bluetooth to control the PS4.

I've owned the Logitech touchscreen remotes before. The hub + non-touch remote is the best.

  • Software isn't great but damn this is an excellent piece of hardware. Huge recommendation.

    Just bought one! Thanks OP

  • Does this work with Nvidia Shield (Android TV), particularly the "back" button?

  • Love the fact they are still offering the extended warranty.

  • Just be aware there are some serious ergonomic issues with this remote which Logitech subsequently fixed on their future remotes. You'll notice the Play/Pause etc buttons are high up on the remote which makes for VERY awkward use of them as you constantly have to adjust your grip to hit them, especially when the navigation controls are much lower in the remote.

While the features and price are good the usability is not great so go into it being aware of this.

  • ok so i need help with harmony 200 (basic), tv, and sony soundbar xt3. the harmony has yellow button called "watch tv" and when pressed, it will toggle (on & off) tv and my old pioneer. all good.
but now i realised the sound bar has 3 states: on standby and off.
i cant get my them to turn on at the same time. any advise or this Logitech Harmony Smart Control will be able to solve?

  • +1

FYI, this smart control can be paired with a Harmony Touch or Ultimate One to essentially get the rf capabilities of a Harmony Ultimate.

  • Went to Northland and didn't feel like going through the scrum at DS, so we went up the road to JB 'cause it was only $9 more (yeah I know I'll be thrown out). There were none on display and the JB guy hadn't seen them before but the system said they had some so he went out the back and found one for us. One of my family mottos is "You don't get what you don't ask for". In case anyone else is looking at getting one of these.

  • Hmmm, I've been waiting for a sale on the 650, but the praise in here has me thinking otherwise.

I only want one so with one button, my partner can turn the PJ on, turn the receiver to Apple-TV and I guess also turn the ATV on. It seems this can take care of all that rather neatly?

Edit: yep, just read the cnet review, sounds like a glorious bit of gear. However for our setup, it seems the 650 would have it beat, especially given the price. I'll keep sitting tight then.

  • This is now down to $77.99!

Still in stock in Sydney stores. I picked up one in Broadway and they still had about 3 left. (I also hid one behind some other remotes in the Bondi store for a rainy day ;) ).

How long do you dare to wait for the price to drop even further?
