  • Very good phone. I have the larger "plus" one. Battery life is excellent, it's fast, fingerprint reader is great. On big downside: You cannot encrypt it like other Android phones. Otherwise great!

    • small detail but this is r7s, not r7. Not a huge increment though.

      • whats the difference skelty? thx

        • +1

several differences of the r7 vs the r7s :

          5" screen vs 5.5"
16GB memory vs 32GB (both expandable up to 128GB)
          3GB RAM vs 4GB
          2320mAh battery vs 3070mAh
          Gorilla Glass 3 vs GG4

others can feel free to add any extras ive missed =)

Honestly the main reason I clicked on deal.

  • Not such a great deal as they were selling the sligthtly smaller R7 for $299 back in December. They might be prepared to drop it to under $400 if you'd really pushed it.

  • Is this shop against human being?

  • Has anyone had experience with ColorOs and Oppo's updates? I'm Thinking of giving this phone a shot

    • I have the 7 plus, coloros is quite well polished imho, at least better than Samsung touchwiz, but malware bytes anti malware reported majority of coloros built in apps are flagged with malware. Not too concerned with that but overall quite a beefy phone.

    • go for a xiaomi, they are quite decent with updates if u get a flagship such as mi4i or mi5

    • According to the Oppo rep on Whirlpool the R7s will be getting updated to Android 6.0, as well as getting the Project Spectrum Android firmware option.

  • Was at Chadstone store
    they had the
    oppo Find 7A
    for $299 said save $200
    No idea on phone though

    • Oppo FInd 7A is like the OnePlus One spec wise. 2014 flagship.

I bought the OPPO f1 on Friday so far very very happy not full hd screen 720 but very sharp.very quick great specs 3 gig ram for 240 dollars can't beat it OPPO are a very good alternative

    • While I don't mean to crap all over your purchase, the F1 is pretty horrible value at $240. A 720p display is unacceptable, and the Snapdragon 616 (basing these observations on the 615) has some pretty major issues.

For $15 more, you can get the Redmi Note 3, which offers a true, full metal body (versus the F1's plastic chassis with a cheap metal backplate slapped on), an awesome fingerprint scanner, and MUCH better 1080p display, a more powerful CPU, better cameras, better official software support (though neither are terribly good) and a MUCH bigger battery with KICKASS stamina. You also gain goodies like 802.11ac WiFi, and dual-tone LED flash. You lose 1GB of RAM on the 16GB model, as well as MicroSD support, but these are well worth losing over the other benefits.

a powerful hardware doesn't always guarantee great and enjoyable user experience, apple hardware may lag behind android/windows flagships but they produce very smooth and enjoyable phones.

        Redmi:

no local warranty and after sale support (Big NO NO for alot of people)

        mediocre Rom with bloatware

        lousy 4G network compatibility

My wife owns a iphone 6s plus, i'm using Nexus phone and Windows 10 phone.
Recently tried a Xiaomi 4i my sister used to own (now back to iphone), if you were to ask me, Chinese phone —> worst user experience, doesn't matter if they are using snapdragon 820 or a snapdragon 1020 from year 2020.

Well maybe things are different with Mi 5, haven't seen/tried it so i can't comment.

I grabbed one of these also.
The standout features for me were its amazingly complete network compatibility - It should be fully compatible with all fast networks on Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
    3G: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
    4G: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/28/38/39/40/41

Apart from the network (I was after Telstra 4GX compatible), the alloy body, curved edge gorilla glass 4, fast charge, 4GB of RAM and 5.5 FHD AMOLED screen rounded out the package for me.
4G network performance like this: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1766461946

$423 for all that to me was a no brainer.

    • Yeah it's a pretty stand-up value. So long as you aren't doing anything SoC intensive, this phone is the perfect package.

I think its better to wait for LG G4 deal, since the price has been lower than 450$AU once. I expect G4 will have around same price with this R7s.

  • Grabbed one

  • Waiting for the next cut to prices…

  • Who does the warranty work for these? Are DSE the importers, and therefore classed as "manufacturer" and responsible for warranty? If so would mean no warranty?

It is good the stores are actually giving 20% of the previous real sell price of $529. But sell price was $499 on the 26th, so you should have really paid only $399.20.

Online at DSE it is still listed at $499 with added 20% logo added vs how it was at $499 on the 26th, with no 20% off logo. Bottom line is DSE online are saying with 20% off their "normal RRP" you pay $499. Did u have to hassle the store to give you a more honest discount?

    • Oppo have an official presence in Australia.
So warranty is through Oppo Australia.

    • Dang, only after I bought then came to realise that. Anyway the sales rep offered the price based on the list RRP on their POS machines.

Warranty wise, I was told it is 2 years directly from Oppo AU, as long as I keep the receipt.

    • I noticed the $499 "discounted price" online.

Go in store and get it for $423. Worked for me.
Only 1 left in Dick Smith Majura Park (ACT).

  • Has now dropped to $397 (25% off) if you can find some stock.
