Nope. you have made a statement about seeing a chromecast in a museum and wasted the first post for your entertainment/ post count.

The first post would have been better used by someone intending to help other make a good buying decision.

Then once called out on your false statement you have made a poor attempt at diverting the discussion. At the end of the day you still have no evidence to back up your original statement.

        • @gummibear:

          Then once called out

I was asked "which one", and I replied…

        • @jv:
Perhaps scorpweb can elaborate if the statement

          pictures or it didn't happen

was referring to the existence of a museum, which you have provided evidence of

or possibly referring to evidence you saw the item in a specific museum which you still have yet provided evidence to support.

Regardless, the first post would be better used to help people make informed purchases. That's what this site is great for.

Agreed, more deals on this site would be great.

If you got your wish and a deal on chill pills popped up, hopefully JV will do you a favour and not fill the first comment with matters unrelated to the value of the deal.

Childish talk, these things still do a great job and at $35 they're a bargain way to get into digital services as well as mirroring content from your phone or even for Plex.

      • I take it they can take the content from the PMS and have the necessary capability to be able to play the video without the need for the PMS to transcode? Nearly all of my stuff is in mkv coming from usenet so there is nothing too funky in terms of format. I have an N54L running Xpenology so while it may be able to handle some light transcoding I would rather find a solution that doesn't require the server to transcode at all if possible.

I have an older pi that is showing some signs of struggling with rasplex and I have considered replacing it with a chromecast.

        • Chromecast is all about grabbing a streaming feed and displaying it. It has little to no transcoding ability. You will be far better off with a Raspberry Pi 2 a vast performance boost over the original, works exceedingly well with my TV even using its remote when active thanks to HDMI-CEC.

        • Have you enabled the DLNA server option in Plex?

You'll probably find your TV/Bluray Player can play your content over DLNA. Might even have a Plex app if you haven't looked (my TV and Bluray player both support both, TV is a 2010 Samsung model so it's been around for a while now)

        • You may find that an older device is your best option with things like Cinavia stopping you from watching your personal backup copies on newer Bluray compatible devices.

        • @Abaddon: i think i may just opt for the rpi3 that had just been released.

          Thanks

Telstra owned stores have uniform pricing so this would be at all Telstra owned stores (not licencees).

  • Cant beat that Bing Lee deal

  • Officeworks price match?

  • Gen 2 would come down to $35 in no time

  • Wondering…. what seems to be the lowest price ever on this, bargainers?

Somewhere around $25, if not mistaken.

    • Yeah, Officeworks had them for $24 at one stage. Managed to grab the last one when that was on.. (a year ago roughly)

    • I got mine delivered for $19.95 using this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/172192
I think that's the cheapest is ever been. $24 was the next best.

      • Well done!!!

  • Been looking for one for AGES. Thank you! :D

  • Thanks for the deal, now I can watch Netflix in bed!

  • So like, can this be used for illegal purposes like stream tv shows?

    • I think you can mirror chrome tabs to your TV, from your Laptop/Desktop.

You can also mirror recent android devices, but it tend to stutter sometimes for me.

    • As long as you have the link of the stream, you can download "Web Video Caster" on android and Chromecast will do the rest. No need to mirror anything as stated above.

  • What's the difference between this and Gen 2?
