Virgin Australia have a 24 hour Leap Year Day sale happening now and expiring midnight. I just booked SYD-PER for the June long weekend at $149 per one-way leg which is the cheapest I've seen on Virgin Australia. There are other city pairs available.

  • Were you able to use either of the 10% off codes?

    • what 10% code?

    • Nope

  • Dang, I have 1500 in my travel bank I need to use… must resist!

If you "need" to use it, then why resist? :)

Perth to Bali one way $129. Pretty good considering you get a feed & 23kg of baggage as well.

  • Got Hobart to Brisbane return for $198 (plus the $7.70 booking fee of course. Pretty happy with that.

Pretty happy with what, the booking fee? =p

  • Is there a 10% off code somewhere? I can't find it. Is this discount more than 10%?

    Thanks

  • Has anyone find sydney - bali for $189?
    Help!

Jetstar has a member sale tomorrow also.

    • +1

My member is just fine, thanks anyway.

    • have they announce the sale yet?

      • The site said it was meant to be 1st of March…

Just checked, prices are ridiculous for the June long weekend for MEL-SYD. I got Jetstar to beat a $85 fare on the Friday from Tiger, and booked Tiger to return on the Monday for a total of $170 return. Virgin are asking more than that one way :(

  • Will cashrewards work?

  • +2

Managed to snag $99 fares each way between Canberra -> Adelaide. Pretty good considering fares on usually double that (on a good day).

    • Did the same only to Brisbane. Adelaide was sold out! Anything's better than sitting out the winter long weekend in this freezing shithole lol

  • Too much hard work to try and find a cheap date.

Any recommendations on how to find the cheap fares? Tried Adioso and doesnt appear to have the sale prices.

Wow lucky I didn't book last night @ $73.46 to and fro Melb for Port v Coll!
JQ and TT are much dearer than this for their flights!
    Thanks op!

  • Found some cheaper flights with Qantas for the same times… They're cheap, but not at all times.

Can I still book if I'm not a virgin?

  • +1

I was somehow able to book a flight to Perth with Expedia USA for cheaper. Came out to $136AUD instead of $149! ($97USD)

    Thanks OP!!

    • Uh oh
"Your ticket is not yet confirmed. We are confirming it with the airline and will update your online itinerary within 24 hours."

I hope they honour the price lol

EDIT: My booking is already showing up on the Virgin Website so all good then!

    • Same trick goes for Expedia Japan, which is where I booked my Virgin flights. Saved about 20%

  • Could someone please tell me why Virgin is worth the extra mulah compared to a budget airline like jetstar?

    • +2

Bags, food, entertainment, suspected more on time/more flights.

      • +1

Certainly if flying to Perth, it's as good as flying Qantas. It also uses better terminals than Jetstar, and has more legroom.

        • You certainly can not compare Virgin with a budget airline like Tiger and Jestar.
Virgin is competing directly with Qantas.
Virgin Australia has been trying to shake off their Virgin Blue branding for quite a while now.
Virgin's domestic service is so much better, and their on time performance is spot on compared with Qantas.

    • service, snack/food is nice, checked baggage, frequent flyer points

      • I agree totally. Their status credit points are easier to maintain Gold and their lounges are nice on a long trip to the USA.

        • I'm only about half way to silver at the moment (only started travelling domestically recently) and it only took a few flights, I would imagine for someone who takes a flight every month or so it would be quite nice to reach gold. alot of my friends are platinum and it looks great although i wouldn't be fond of being on flights as often as them (every day or two)

  • Thanks OP, saved my daughter $180 return from Brisbane to Canberra!
