Locate 1 Phillips and 1 Flathead screwdriver I actually use
    Lose said screwdrivers
Toolkit gathers dust in my garage for the next 10 years.
Desperately need a very specific sized Allen Key, remember dusty Toolkit.
Go Check it. Surely 1 of the 202 remaining tools is an Allen Key I can use ?
    Nope.

Thats the key !! Christ did I ever need that allen key 2 weeks ago when one of my kids door's got stuck closed with them on the inside :)

Or did you need the key…? :)

        • I had to break down a bedroom door the other day when the same thing happened to me. However I was able to use the c clamp from an aldi tool set to glue the door back together. Like they say you just need the right tools for the job.

I got sick of losing allen keys so I bought one of these: http://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-2-piece-metric-and-imp…

… That's actually a nice looking bit of kit. I know how I'm going to spend my next Bunnings gift voucher. Ta !

No cable ties, I am dissapoint.

  • Thanks OP, Not a bad box kit to carry in the 4x4 & boat, covers most minor issues incl wiring.
Like the way I can tell if something hasn't been put back rather than all loose in my current setup.

  • Buy Snap-on or go home.

  • For information only, the tool is GV Tools brand and not Repco. I think GV Tools is also a brand of Repco but I heard quality is questionable, on par with SCA?

I can't recall when I saw it at $189? I thought the set was always around $90-100

  • This tool set is pretty useless. The spanners will flex when you try to undo something very tight, and it wont take long for the screwdrivers to wear out or break the tips and be useless. Also the pliers wont match up perfectly like a quality pair will. Not saying you need to spend more, or a fortune on tools, but you are much better off just buying some decent tools that you need. If your trying to take out a screw, a worn cheap screwdriver is likely to ruin the head. Its just not worth the effort having inferior tools. $89 isn't that cheap, you can buy some decent tools for that price especially on sale.

    • I agree with this comment.

It's better to buy a few tools that are of good quality that you will use more often as opposed to a quantity of tools with questionable quality.

  • is the quality of this set much better than the one from Kmart for $24 last year?

i.e. is this set a worthwhile upgrade for the price?

If you already have that set, I would take the $89 you plan to spend on this and buy some of the ToolPro stuff from SuperCheapAuto. I have their 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch ratchets and they are awesome for the price. Grab the Kinchrome socket sets on the rail from Bunnings and you will be set. After that just buy stuff as you need. For example I needed a bigger shifter to do my tie rod ends, so now I have a nice quality 40mm shifter.

      • thanks miicah
