    • Fingers crossed for free shipping. Hopefully you got the REWARD3 code in your email :)

      • +1

        I have got different code which is also targeted.

        • +1

          Classic COTD and their various coupons. I haven't brought something from them in ages, must be why I received the offer.

        • +2

          Also received a different code, so definitely targeted.

        • @lyl:

          What's the code? Sometimes it's worth putting on here to see if it works :)

        • +1

          @Spackbace: UNLOCK3
          :)

        • @lyl:

          Cheers but no worky :(

        • +1

          @lyl: I have same code.

      • $9.99 shipping payable. Just checked with their chat team.

        • +1

          Thanks, have updated deal. Explains why most people are receiving the $10 off code.

        • @ShamelessBargains:

          Can't you just sign up for club catch trial, add a $1 item to bump cart to $50, and get it shipped for free?

        • @lyl: Yep if you are quick enough :)

        • +1

          @ShamelessBargains: add $1 item to cart now, then you only need to add apple tv to cart and checkout

  • +1

    I could not submit the deal due the post limit :D I have confirmed with customer support that it will be available to everyone and not just club catch members.

    • +1

      Good to here, pretty sure most people have used up their club catch trials on their various email addresses by now.

  • +2

    Gotta laugh. Be lucky to have 3 in stock by the time the sale starts.

    • +2

      If you are quick on your mouse, you could get lucky. I used to sit on the scoopon site when they had free gift cards with another Ozbargainer and we got some of them. Persistence is key here :)

      • I can see this deal going south at 10pm. I reserve my vote.

        • -1

          Fair enough, the less votes leads to the less people will see it and the higher chance you have of securing a cheap Apple TV :)

        • +1

          Fair enough, the less votes leads to the less people will see it and the higher chance you have of securing a cheap Apple TV :)

          I think the number of votes is largely irrelevant now that it has made it to the front page of OzBargain - the COTD website will probably break under the strain ;-)

        • @oz-dave: Haha yeah you are right. As long as some Ozbargainers get one, that's a good outcome :)

        • @ShamelessBargains: Right on queue. Got crapped on one too many times with COTD. How the F could they be sold out by 10:01? This was totally a publicly stunt. How the hell this got to 70 votes I have NO idea!

        • @themob:

          Me and some other people got them for the same price on their eBay store. I'm assuming then their eBay stock and the stock for this deal were the same

    • +1

      Usually when these things are on it's quicker to use the app

      • Plot twist: it's slower to use the app and he's saying it so you'd lose to him 😂

  • I have a silly question,
    Whats an Apple TV good for? I mean I have Chromecast already.

    • +1

      Good if you have other Apple devices like an iPhone, iPad or Macbook. I mainly use mine to screen share via Airplay which works really well. Also good for making picture slideshows direct from your photo library. Also use it for streaming like on the Chromecast. The remote it comes with is also quite handy and it is definitely better than the smart tv features on our Samsung in the other room.

    • If you have a Chromecast, IMO don't worry about this. They're effectively the same (albeit Apple v Android ecosystem).
      If you didn't have either (or a smart TV), Apple TV is great as a media streaming device.

      • +1

        Not really the same as you don't need to 'cast' to the device.
        The device doesn't need a phone or computer to be able to watch Youtube, Netflix, Stan, Hulu etc.

        • -8

          This is the old Apple TV so yes you do need a phone or computer as it does not have apps like the new Apple TV does.

        • +4

          @Firey1989:

          Wrong I have 4 Apple TV 2's, 1 apple tv 3 and 1 Apple TV 4.

          All of them have apps, all can play netflix, stan etc.

          All have access to the app store without the need for a computer or a phone/phablet or tablet.

        • -2

          @macfanboy:

          Then what's the point of the new Apple TV 4 with TVoS

          I thought all the old ones were essentially overpriced chromecasts with no TVoS

        • +2

          @macfanboy:

          Why on earth would you have 6 different Apple TVs?

          sees username

          Oh…

        • @revolutio:

          Large Family, many Tv's around the house.
          Didn't really need the last one Appletv4 but because it was so different I thought what the heck.

        • @Firey1989:

          The New Apple TV can download apps from all over the world and sit next to each other e.g. I have Hulu, Stan, Netflix & BBC iPlayer all on my home screen.
          Also the new apple tv can download games and has an App Store.

          Previously I had to log in and out of my Aus/US/UK accounts to see the apps.

        • -2

          @macfanboy:

          Yes I'm aware of the new one - I have one. But the old one does not have an App Store and doesn't have apps - just links to services that Apple chose to let you use. You can't add or remove them, you're stuck with them.

        • @Firey1989:

          All Apps are Country based and show up when you switch accounts.
          You can 'Hide' the ones that you don't want to see.
          My point was that the 'services' like Netflix, Stan, Hulu etc don't require an additional device.

      • Thanks.

        I might get it for $49.

        I have 2013 Samsung Smart TV, but the Samsung removed the feautures bit by bit. That was why I bought Chromecast $25 last time.

        • Then don't do the software updates?

        • @abc:
          The software (firmware) of the TV, and the features of the Samsung Hub are two totally separate things that Samsung can update independent of each other.

          I use to like the old Smart Hub my F8500 had, but they recently changed it so that it was 'consistent' on all the TV's, which has now made it shocking and frustrating to use.

    • If you use itunes for TV series they are great. You can download to PC and stream locally (so will work with the downloaded episode irrespective of your internet speed).

    • +1

      Might be hard to do as they will cap it one per account.

      • +1

        You're assuming I have one account, and one address

        • Haha thats true. Good luck then :)

        • +3

          I think he is assuming that you only have 1 pair of hands :)

    • Maybe your name should be NeoBroden?

    • Here comes Broden again…
      Neo: Yeah. Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I may have a better one. How about, I give you the finger

  • Is this device similar to wd live where you can watch movies stored somewhere in network ?

    • Curious too. Is it only with movies through itunes or can one use their movie library through a NAS and network share?

      • Try Plex, Emby, or Infuse 4 (on phone, and then AirPlay to AppleTV). Plex/Emby need a computer to do recoding of the file, while Infuse 4 will play most file types with the software doing the encoding. I haven't played with them much, though (I use Kodi on a NUC). Just have a Google and see.

    • You can watch movies that are stored in your Apple devices as long as it is across the same WiFi network. I am not sure if you can watch direct from your PC hard drive but there probably is a way.

    • Check out Plex and install Plexconnect on the AppleTV 3. Can stream movies/TV etc. from anywhere on your network, from a PC or Mac or Linux box, or some NAS devices - anything that can run Plex server.

      Or you can rent / buy movies / tv shows on the Apple TV if you haven't bought a copy and added it to Plex yet ;)

      Also good for playing music from iTunes / Apple music and watching photos from your computer / photo stream / flickr / etc. We have our TV as a big photoframe scrolling through photos.

      Also good for watching video podcasts on the TV (podcast app).

      Also good for airplaying stuff from your phone/iPad to share with others (Thomas the Tank engine or wiggles when the friends and their kids come over).

      Also good as an airplay receiver for music. I've got one out on the deck hooked up to an old amp/speakers (no TV), so its super simple to play music out there from any computer in the house, or any phone / iPad in the house.

      Also better than most inbuilt TV apps for watching MLB, NFL, iView, 7mate, etc. etc.

      No games as there isn't an App store, but there are 3rd party apps you can get to work without a jailbreak, by "replacing" some of the inbuilt apps like Trailers.

  • Just noticed on Catch of the Days homepage that they will be having a Double trouble sale tonight.

      not happy at all that am item would get sold out within 5 minutes, not to mention that the site refused to load for me, who added it to cart at 10pm exact. Congrats to everyone that got it, but I feel like we shouldn't be encouraging these limited stock sales that sell out in minutes, it's extremely unfair to some.
