    The $1,199 deal is not actually limited to employees of IBM or Lenovo. It is for Lenovo Affinity Purchase Program.

    The Lenovo Affinity Program is a discount purchase program made available to employees, students and members of participating organisations - it's your opportunity to take advantage of great prices on the best engineered PCs, from the makers of the famous ThinkPad notebooks.

    Similar to Dell's EPP and Apple's EDU discount I guess. Lenovo Affinity Program members get 15% off discount on all web-price. You might wish to check your employer or your school whether they have been enroled in this program. Otherwise, $1,299 is not too bad either (+ 5% from MoneyBackCo).

    On some other webpage it says there is a 3yr service warranty but no fingerprint reader. Can anyone confirm that the specs above are correct?

    Anyway great deal. I got a thinkpad with similar specs for $1430 but would have prefered i think this one! No buyers remorse though… a very well built laptop!

    Looks good, pity it doesn't come with a DVD burner. And has anyone else noticed that the prices on the 'Customise' page for this model are in NZ dollars?
