H2COCO Coconut Water $1.42, Mayvers Natural Peanut Butter $2.50 @ Coles Starts 3rd March

520

Saw some decent deals in Coles' next Catalogue, but nothing overly exciting.

I like the sound of the natural Peanut Butter http://www.mayvers.com.au/mayvers-pure-state-super-natural-c… as the crap that goes in Kraft etc varieties are gross.

Here are two deals. Enjoy.

This week Cococobela 1 litre coconut water is $2.50 at Coles

That Cocobella coconut water is disgusting. I don't know how anyone can like it.

If you want 100% coconut water that is far better than anything you'll find on the shelves, look for this brand:

      http://tipco.com.au/coconutwater/

You can find it in some Asian grocery stores.

I would rank it no. 1, with Nudie coconut water not far behind.

You can trust me on this one, I am a coconut water enthusiast. :)

      • I don't know much about coconut water. I've tried Zico before and it's ok. How would you rate it?

        • +1

Zico is not bad. I've had it many times when the small 330ml packs have been on 1/2 price at about $1.40 at Woolies and Coles. It's a much better alternative than gulping down a can of Coke or something.

As Macaron Mama mentioned below. AVOID any coconut not from Thailand.

To single out one particular brand:
          http://shop.coles.com.au/online/national/ayam-no-pulp-coconu…

Ayam coconut water, from the Philippines if I remember correctly. It's truly dreadful. Like drinking soy sauce straight out of the bottle. The first time I drank it I was driving and had to pull over and spit it out of my mouth.

        • It contains a preservative - wouldn't even rate. Although I have tasted it and I'm not a fan.

      • We buy CocoMax coconut water that u find in Asian groceries. It's pricey with 6x500ml bottles costing $12 (cheapest I've seen it is $10). I tried the Cocobella one and it tastes very similar to CocoMax and I stocked up cause there's nothing like cool, refreshing coconut water on a hot day. Will try the Tipco one though; thanks for the recommendation. The ones made in Thailand are superior; tried one that wasn't from Thailand and it was gross.

      • +2

Cocobella tastes pretty much the same as other brands on the supermarket shelves to me. I dont particularly like any blends however.

The 1L for $2.50 is a bargain and I just went out and bought one. I find coconut water good for rehydration after intense exercise

        • +1

Just one? We bought three boxess :P

      • I find Cocobella not so bad - I definitely stocked up on those. My personal favourites (in terms of tasting like real Thailand coconuts) would be Nudie and Meko (http://www.mekococonutwater.com/). I definitely want to try Tipco though. Love my coconut water!

      • Tipco stockists.

        http://tipco.com.au/coconutwater/stockists.htm

        Gonna try one.

      • Cocobella tastes fine.

    • +2

Great deal, I'll be stocking up - thank you!

I avoid Zico because it contains preservative 223.

Personally think Cocobella is the best tasting and ticks all the boxes (from Thailand, no additives or preservatives, 100% young green coconuts, not from concentrate), but each to their own!

      • Try Tipco once and you'll see the difference. I've bought the Cocobella on special and was disappointed. Would much prefer the $3.5 Tipco instead.

    • $1.42 for 3ooml is over price for coconut water even with pretty packaging and maybe little sweeter than Cococobela :)

    • +1

The best coconut water is the fresh ones you crack yourself
Super easy and you get the flesh as well

  • Sanitarium Natural Peanut Butter gets even cheaper when it is on special.

    • +5

That's like comparing a showroom merc with a 96 hyandai excel.

      • The Mayvers at this prices $2 is unbeatable but I quite like the Sanitarium product too, it was $2 a few months ago but that was exceptional, usually they discounts on $3.20 or so.

        I will stock up.

      • It's 100% peanuts, both of them are. Can there really be that much difference?

  • Please amend the date to 09/03

    • Thanks!
Sorry - amended. I hate submitting deals using my phone - always make mistakes!

      • Still says "Starts 3rd March" in the title.

      • +1

Thank you for submitting it in the first place mate!

  • +1

Mistake in the title, the peanut butter is $2.50 !

The super spread is the higher price

    • Cheers; updated!

    • Good pick up, definitely a great buy now.

  • +2

    Mayvers !! Yum

Need to stock up , only have 2 jars left from last times special .

    • I have never bought it, what is the darker roast one like?

      • Curious about differences with normal and dark roast, anyone tried both?

        • I usually just buy the spread in normal and choc flavour . It's really yummy . The tahini is also nice

        • +1

I haven't yet tried regular roast; bought the dark roast recently and it's delicious. Rich nutty, earthy flavour with a delicate sprinkling of salt encased in a delightfully smooth texture.

          Doesn't taste Sanitised.
          No Krafty ingredients.

The absolute best peanut butter I have ever had.

Recommend you try their cacao and peanut butter spread too ^_^

        • @paragon: Very punny!
If you like Mayvers and live in Melbourne you have to try Darryl's fresh roasted peanut butter at Queen Victoria Market. Much more expensive though at $8 for $380g.

          to;dr:
This deal is a real steal. Good for every meal!

        • @ucd12345: Whoa 8 moneys? That's rather steep. Perhaps I'll sample some when I next go the market, if Darryl's okay with that :)

  • Am I doing something wrong. Post says starts 3 March but dates are 9-16.
    Want me some peanut butterrrerr

    • +1

Can confirm the Mayvers sale starts 9/3 according to latest Coles Catalogue (Ends 15/3)

  • Mayvers PB is AWESOME.

  • I am big on coconut water. Cocobela's good. Just bought 2 boxes + they have the watermelon & mint one on special too

There are so many brands now - Nudie, Nakula ring a bell as 2 of the best. I didn't like Zico

Make sure: not from concentrate, no added sugar/preservative, not pasteurising at extremely high temp which removes most of the goodness. Thats how they have such a long shelf life.

  • +3

Thanks so much, I ran out of the Sanitarium natural PB and am excited to try this brand (I always stock up when the natty PB goes on sale!!!)

PB toast, PB sandwiches, PB protein sludge mmm so many tasty healthy snacks to be had. See if your kids like it, after you get used to natural PB you can't go back. Much better without the added sugar, salt and other nasties they add to other brands.

    • +1

People say natural PB is oily and goes dry at the end.

I like the oiliness and you can avoid the dry at the end by turning the jar upside down between openings.

I am a late convert to PB, previously I tried the the normal sugary version …. stored in the fridge. Gross.

      • +1

Or just mix it up with a dinner knife at the start, sorted.

        • Yep you're both right, if the oil separates you just tip it upside down or mix it with a knife. I store mine in a pantry or fridge, never made much difference to me. I have tried some brands that were really dry, almost as if they took out some of the natural oils (which are healthy and great for energy)

        • @Kayeff Sea:

I find tipping it upside down doesn't quite mix it as well, parts of it are good and then the rest can still be a bit wonky.

I take a tablespoon and stir it around first, then push the spoon right towards the bottom and pulling up, turning it over a few times as I go, find that to be very effective

      • Mayvers PB can kinda go dry towards the end, I don't mind as there's usually not much left in the jar by then. I quite like the difference in texture, and if it's really too dry and chalky, can just warm it up for a few seconds in the microwave.

Or you could strain most of the oil out and use it for cooking something! Reckon you'd get a mighty fine peanut flavour out of it :)

  • Does the PB taste and have a similar texture to the macro organic PB HP ? https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/browse/spreads-breakfast-…

  • I like the ones they sell at Asian grocery stores. Taste sweeter but one time I tasted the strong metallic taste of the aluminium can and stopped buying them since
