I see all these deals on ozbargain at the moment clearly sourced from pricehipster.

I don't post them as they are low in stock and I'm probably too lazy.

However I think it's only fair people put thanks to pricehipster yet not many are.

    • What's pricehipsper ?

      • +14

        @nocure www.pricehipster.com.au
The guy is on here, he created it as a really fast best price search engine. The front page finds the latest clearance deals from various stores it sources its prices from.

Hey treeman, thanks for the shout out. The OzBargain community has been very supportive of Price Hipster and I really appreciate it. It wouldn't be what it is today without all the great feedback. I look forward to sharing even more improvements with you all!

        • @jazoom:

Would be great if you had an area of each deal box that could be clicked on to go straight to the deals website instead of having to click three times every time (open the deal, click to open the dealers website, click again to close the deal). Ideally it should be a normal clickable link as well so that normal browser behaviour works (such as middle click to automatically open the deal in a new tab).

        • @Sheez: Hi Sheez, I don't know why your browser doesn't open it in a new tab since that is the behavior I have given it. What's your browser?

Also, the middle click works on all browsers I've tried.

I'm hearing what you're saying and I will definitely look into adding that functionality.

          Thanks for the feedback!

My first time ever read about pricehipster …

        • @frewer:

          Does it hurt?

        • +1

          @jazoom:

Hey champ. Just saw the website and I think it's a game changer so great work! Cant wait till you add Chemist Warehouse and Aldi in your listings….

        • @frewer: It's alright, you haven't missed much… except saving both time and money! :P

        • +1

@davecolgate: Me too. Unfortunately Aldi might take a while since they don't even have more than a handful of products on their website. Maybe Lidl entering the market will make them step up their digital game.

        • @jazoom:

Sorry I think you misunderstood. When I click on one of your product boxes, it opens up your other large box with the full details, then I have to click again to actually open the product in a new tab, and click again to close the large box.

So if I see 5 items I'm interested in and want to open them in separate tabs, I have to repeat that process each time, clicking 15 times just to open 5 product tabs. If there part of the small product box that I could click to go directly to the external website, then I could just middle click 5 times and have 5 new tabs open.

Using the latest Firefox and Chrome.

Often sites that behave like yours will have a separate area you can click on, for example the BIGW logo or something, that will go directly to the BIGW website, while the rest of the box just opens your large box.

        • @Sheez: oh, I definitely understood what you meant when you talked about that… and I agree.

What I think I must have misunderstood is I thought you were saying the current method isn't a normal, middle-clickable link.

I think that low in stock is an under statement as I doubt it they have at least 10 in stock of each item.

    • +4

TRENT86 scanned thousands of deals for us before the existent of pricehipster. I wonder if he've automated his job with pricehipster recently.

      • +6

Nah i think trent has his own scraper, as he is always the first to be notified of price drops before pricehipster shows it.

        • I'm keen to hear more about this?

        • @jazoom:

lol all I'm saying is that trent doesn't use pricehipster haha, he's just the expert of price drops.

        • @lyl: OK haha. I'll never complain about extra bargain finders

    • -3

TRENT86 is pricehipster welcome to ozbargain

      • Is he really?

        • I thought he used to work for HN

        • He is a human version

    • +6

None of these were found there, I searched the majority of the OW site early this morning

      • +2

Feel free to use the Hipster to help the cause. :-) It's what I built it for.

        • Yeah it's def a good idea for a site but needs a bit of tweaking

        • @TRENT86: What tweaks would you like to see?

    • But it's all about getting the post count up!

IMHO, this kind of post annoys me. You look through it, there's maybe one thing there that is deserving of the term bargain, and it won't be available in the state you live in.

    • -3

Yh I agree. OP MUST give credit to PriceHipster. I do visit PH daily but I don't post them because the stock level is none to existance.

      • +1

Why would I thank Price hipster when it had nothing do with finding these deals? If I found a deal there I would give credit like I do when I find deals on Hukd

        • There are lots of other posts like that for Officeworks today. I guess your post is all you but that fact got lost in the excitement.

Thanks heaps for your hard work!

  • +1

Great deals, thanks for the effort +1

  • +7

always call ow and get them to obtain actual eyes on the clearance item before believing it exists

  • $15 for my bookshelves! Damn!

  • +1

north ryde OW does not have any stock. please dont bother going and be dissapointed like me..

    • did you see any of the HP2540 there? says they are in stock on the website

      • +1

thats why i went. staff said the website is not updated. I went there for the same printer. If you go there and find it magically then please let me know

  • +2

It is really hard to find stock in OW for Clearance Items
Good on you guys that have store that got a stock nearby

  • +2

Great effort but I thought items with low to Zero stock are not allowed to be listed as bargains.

    • +1

But that's why you put the "limited stock" disclaimer in the title.
I agree with you, should be removed.

  • Couldn't see the HP 2540 in store at Airport West (Vic), but didn't have time to ask the staff to check for me. The OW website says limited stock so it's probably safe to assume they have none.

  • Capalaba had both those digital cameras this morning. They are pretty old stock I would say the price is about what they're worth.

  • Would Dicksmith price match Officeworks for the Fitbit Charge?

    • let me know if they do pls. Cheers.
