      Have you compared the quality of both, in particular the fertiliser quality/balance in action?

      The Depco one has a quality 6 month balanced fertiliser in it (I've got great results personally). IMO, the quality is much more important than the negligible price difference.

        quality?

        Just buy some chicken/cow manure or fertilizer and create your own mix…

        At least I know and can choose how much I add to it.

        If you are too lazy to do this yourself…then go for it.

        And this is ozbargain..
        Every dollar counts.

        It is not negligible price difference either..

        aldi 150L = $24

        Your "bargain" = $30..

        $6 saving can buy me 2 to 3 bags of chicken manure.

          So your answer to the question of, "Have you tried it," is probably NO. Debco is by far the best potting mix I have tried, and I still add bits and pieces to that, depending on what I am planting. This price is a bargain.

          Cost savings in potting mix can easily be lost when plants fail to thrive, or simply drop dead in a short time.

          @Geewhizz:

          My plants still alive and thriving with aldi soil/potting + cow/chicken mix

      Cheap potting mix from the supermarket is a waste of money and your time. If you need it to plant a tree for example it is a long time investment. The time you spend watering and caring for a tree the first couple of years is huge.

      • I actually like the cheap potting mix from Woolworths as it drys out quick making a good base for my cacti mix. I would not recommend it for ferns, palms etc. Cheap potting mix from the supermarket is also good for filling the bottom of large pots rather than using good soil where the plants roots will not go.

  • Doh! Out of stock at my store…

  • Is this Debco one better than the Osmocote equivalent from Bunnings? They're about the same price.
