Logitech Harmony Smart Control $38.99 (70% off - $129.98) @ Dick Smith

2260

Great Price, unsure what the go is with Dick Smith deals on Oz B at the moment as haven't seen many others posting their deals (as their prices keep going cheaper and cheaper).
But this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/239505 made it front page with same product $79.96 @ JB Hi-Fi. This is over half that price so a absolute steal!

The Hub itself can now be used to control smart home products like Philips ™ and LIFX lights, August™ smart locks, Nest® and Honeywell®, thermostats, and more. read here (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/harmony-hub)

Picture shows there are over 10 in stock at Bendigo alone, sure other dick smiths will have more around. Note the red dot, as any products with a red dot is 70% off atm (the bottom price sticker in the image has the dot, and receipt as proof).

      • Looks like you can teach new commands in place if you use the app

        Ah cool.

Will have to further investigate using the hub with an existing IR Harmony…apparently you can change hub assignments / isolate IR signals, which would fit in with this idea too:

"Select the correct assignment for each device from the drop-down list for that device. Choose between:

        • Hub & mini blasters
        • Hub only
        • Mini blaster port 1
        • Mini blaster port 2"

Good to see you managed to score one btw ;)

        • Yeah, you can set where the outgoing IR is coming from, or in the case of remotes that have both IR and RF, whether the IR should be sent from the hub or remote itself.

If I understand correctly though you want to use an IR only remote to control the hub which would then send out the IR macro, which is what I think it won't do.

It does have an IR receiver so you'd think it should be possible, maybe with enough digging you can.. haven't come across anything about it though, but if you do let us know..

  • Picked one up from Rockingham. Still one left.

    • I was there this morning never seen any grrr they must have been elsewhere in the shop as sure was not with the other logitech remotes etc?

      • They were in the back corner next to the Ultimate Ones at the time.

        • Thats where i was back corner right of the tv's on display must have not noticed as was there around 10am or not longer after.
How annoying went there just for that reason and looks like they was there all this time

  • any word on any stock around Melbourne almost all these comments are for other states?

  • Grabbed the last two from Darwin store.

  • On a side note, anyone requested removal from the database before it goes to Kogan?

Although I have two accounts, one I created on their site and the other they made when I ordered via ebay, I only got notified on my eBay one. Looks like it takes you to a generic form to fill out to request removal anyway.

There were three of these this morning (Monday) at the Dick Smith Home Maker store in Maroochydore Queensland. I can update you now and say there are just two left! At $39 you can't go wrong. Just watched a Youtube video on a guy setting one up 12 months or so ago. He paid $160 and for that he said it was good value.

My Harmony One is just great but is beginning to show signs of wear. This Smart Control will remain in the box and go in the cupboard for when the "One" eventually dies.

  • Does this work on airconditioners too?

    • Yes

  • A deal that was to good to say no too… my old 525 works like a champ, will have a play to see if this improves the overall usability.
Last one in Perth City (Williams St), store guy said he had sold a bunch that morning that were all out back.
He actually told me that he was all sold out until i called his bluff on the one on the counter next to him.

  • Any of these left in Melbourne, just realised I need one for Alexa home automation, but can't find any on the DS website.

    • Seem to be hard to find anywhere, let alone Vic or Melbourne, BUT you may be in luck, I was lucky enough to hunt one down, not sure if I was after one to use or just to hunt down!

  • Is there a PC Client side to this thing? Can the push of a button launch a .exe file?

  • anyone know if wetherill park store or liverpool store have any..

    Sydney

  • Bleh, none available in any store I have been in. (wollongong area).

    Typical Dick Smith :(

  • Just picked the Harmony Ultimate for $90 70% off.

Model number 915-000210 DSE number CN3601.

Cheapest price online I can see is $250.

    • It's almost worth buying a spare replacement backup at that price…

    • So the Harmony Ultimate you got is the Harmony Ultimate One remote plus the Smart Hub…like this:

      …as opposed to this:

      • 70% off would imply yes

      • +1

It is the one with the hub.

Toormina store and there was one left a at the time of original posting.

        • do you have receipt?
my local DS it came up as $161

edit: looks like they scanned the Ultimate One, rather than just the ultimate?

        • +1
        • @konji:

Sure that was an Ultimate, not an ultimate one without hub? $161 is what they're priced at.

        • Think they may have scanned the wrong one: CN3601 - Ultimate One according to the DSE website - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-video-accessories/logitech-ha….

        • @kevsta89: That's CN3610…

        • @Sawtell: thanks mate, appreciated!

        • @atlas: So it is, my mistake :)

        • @bamzero: yep, ultimate one instead of just the ultimate. bugger!

        • @konji:

Do companies do this on purpose? Naming the versions similarly but different? It took me a good 10 minutes to figure out what model it was an if it was worth it but in the end just snagged it because I guessed.

    • which store?

  • Same, none at Penrith.

  • Had a few MX Masters in store, thought might get a bargain but was $83.40, not that great.

  • I got the last one at Smithfield Cairns

  • Any Stock around Sydney CBD?

  • None available at Randwick NSW

  • +1

none at woden or tuggers. jb at tuggers , woden and DFO dont have them either :(

  • Hey guys, I was wondering if I can use this remote to operate my HTPC? I currently have a Logitech K400R wireless keyboard installed but it will be awesome to have a remote as well.

    • +1

If you can get your HTPC to accept commands via infrared then you can use this remote - or any universal remote to control it. That's what I do with my 3 Mythbuntu HTPCs - I have infrared pickups connected to the htpc's via usb and use Logitech 650's to control them (and have K400/R's connected to 2 of them as well for when I want to use a keyboard). You'll need to do some googling to research how to do it for your HPTC - which I'm guessing is Windows. I'm not up to date for Windows but I'm guessing that googling FLIRC might be a good place to start. See my post earlier in this thread. Getting this remote to emulate a K400R will be trickier and may not be possible - I'm going to check it out once I get mine - as the K400R's, if I recall correctly from mine, have pairing between the keyboard and the K400R dongle.

      • Thanks very much for your reply :) Now I know that I will need a Flirc to get it working with my HTPC.

I ended up getting this deal from my local Dick Smith and in the mean time before I get a Flirc I have been trying to get it to work with my Topfield PVR that has a dodgy remote, but cant seem to get it going. I have followed the instructions to try to get it to work with my tablet but all I can get it to do atm is turn the power on and off on my PVR.

I would also like to get it to run my PVR through the Remote that comes with it but I have no clue how to do this!

        • No worries. You need to create a myharmony account, download the software and set up the configuration of your remote - including adding your Topfield PVR and any other devices. You also need to have a wireless network, add the hub the network and sync the settings to the hub using the app on your phone/ tablet. For testing make sure the hub is in front of your PVR. Once working you can move it further away. BTW - FLIRC is softwarwe - not a device. It may or may not be required, or the best option - as I say I'm not up to date on Windows infrared control. But you need to do your research on the web - that should lead you to Windows media centre forums where you can get more help on the infrared setup if required.

I use this on my Win10 HTPC…works well with the Harmony controlling WMC and XMBC / Kodi etc:

      http://www.dx.com/p/wireless-multimedia-infrared-ir-remote-c…

      • Thanks forthe link, but Im wondering does it work with Windows 7?

        • Yep

    • This works over Bluetooth no IR needed.
Just add your HTPC as a device, then add an activity to watch pc.
once done, use the phone app to start "watching pc" and it will give you an option to pair, select it and then on the HTPC pair from your Bluetooth connections the "Harmony keyboard"
then you can customize buttons etc back on the PC

I set it up with plex last night!, awesome! I even made a button on the remote launch the application.
I was too using a K400R prior to this setup

      • Good point. That would be easier and more reliable than mucking around with infra red. Wonderboy4 would just need to get a bluetooth card /dongle if his HTPC doesn't already have bluetooth.

        • Officeworks has a Targus branded Bluetooth one for $34.95, that's what I purchased

        • @ozy: Since this is Ozbargain I would feel remiss not check MSY and mention they have usb bluetooth dongles on their parts price list for $5 (v2) and $11 (v4) (under the heading "Bluetooth Dongle").

        • @belbo:

Or eBay for $1 of course (though whether they would work properly with the Harmony remains to be seen)

        • +2

          @bamzero:

I have one of these, and just plugged it in to my HTPC, and added a Windows Computer to My Harmony.

Works well actually…have full control over Kodi and WMC, has on-screen keyboard, and it even has a speech-to-text functionality lol!

        • @belbo: agreed, I was inpatient though :)

      • +1

Good to know. Bought one with the hopes of doing something similar with my Android player. Its remote doesn't have dedicated play/pause, ff/rw etc controls for Kodi so hoping that I can send Bluetooth keyboard commands instead to control it directly.
Just need to get around to setting it up :)

  • price dropped down further, picked one up from macurther square for $34'ish and about 6 left.

    • Anyone happy to mail on to me in Sydney? Happy to pay extra for your trouble and postage. Please PM me. Got one from JB HiFi deal - but thinking a spare would be good.

      • +1

        Done

        • I'd also be interested, didn't manage to get one from JB or DS, so would be happy to pay someone for their trouble if they have any spares.

  • Got mine and have set it up. Very nice. Does what I need - more reliably than infrared only - and phone app is pretty useful. Didn't find it difficult to set up but I did copy the setup from my 650's. The only problem I'm having is that it isn't switching my TV between TV and HDMI - it turns the TV on and off fine. Anyone had similar issues ? And on that note - the only drawback I can think of so far is that the 650 has a help button and the screen so you can fix / redo if commands didn't work properly. With this you need to use the app to do that.

    • Sorted my TV input switching issue. I had my previous model Pana plasma programmed in the 650, which worked fine with the 650, but changing to my current model Pana for this remote seems to have fixed it. Using the phone app as a remote isn't too bad at all. Still nicer to have a dedicated device with physical buttons - but the app has a lock screen widget (on Android) which is pretty handy for quick access to pause and volume. Another nice feature is that you can change the setup on computer and then use phone to sync the changes, rather than plugging the hub into the computer, which is pretty handy.

  • Does anyone know if the Logitech Harmony Ultimate One remote will work with this Smart control Hub? Probably the same hub as with the Logitech Harmony Ultimate (which includes a hub, probably the same hub?)

    • +1
      • Thanks man, just googled it and found that page!

  • Anyone know of any stock left around Melbourne, or got an extra that they'd like to sell and post to Melb? All the stores I've been into are looking like disaster zones with half the shelves being sold and dismantled.

    • Also after one, at this price point plus a little extra for your troubles and postage if necessary :)

  • +1

Just noticed JB pumped their price up from $99 to $179 - wow, big increase. I guess when there's limited stock around it becomes a case of supply v's demand.

  • My Harmony is still going strong and does everything I need perfectly… so naturally, I'm going to duck out and buy one now.

    • Where….

    • Yeah I think stock would be very low, but is also cheaper than $38.99 now if you can find one as it's 80% off.
