Logitech Harmony Smart Control $38.99 (70% off - $129.98) @ Dick Smith

2260

Great Price, unsure what the go is with Dick Smith deals on Oz B at the moment as haven't seen many others posting their deals (as their prices keep going cheaper and cheaper).
But this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/239505 made it front page with same product $79.96 @ JB Hi-Fi. This is over half that price so a absolute steal!

The Hub itself can now be used to control smart home products like Philips ™ and LIFX lights, August™ smart locks, Nest® and Honeywell®, thermostats, and more. read here (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/harmony-hub)

Picture shows there are over 10 in stock at Bendigo alone, sure other dick smiths will have more around. Note the red dot, as any products with a red dot is 70% off atm (the bottom price sticker in the image has the dot, and receipt as proof).

          @singlemalt72:

I enjoy replacing flat batteries with the eneloops that I have collected over the years.

        • @Smigit:

Have you tried setting your AVR to English? :p

        • +1

@stonkered: Anyone who can make sense of the Onkyo remote my 515ae shipped with deserves a medal. Doesn't help that it doesn't have a direct input swap button as far as I can tell for some of the inputs on my unit which would otherwise require navigating menus to get to. Again, something the Logitech remote does ok with.

      • Doesn't turning your xbox or ps4 on make the tv auto switch to the correct hdmi, our old Panasonic does, I assumed all TV's with hdmi do. Same with choosing the hdmi input on the tv turns the console on as well.

        • +1

Nah I have an older TV that doesn't support that and some of my hardware consists of previous gen consoles.

I still think the universal remote aspect would be handy anyway.

        • @Smigit:
handy alright. both the ps3 and ps4 have the auto hdmi on thing. You can turn that function on and off, it does get annoying sometimes when choosing another hdmi (say Foxtel) and you quickly pass the console one the console starts and a few seconds later the tv switches to it again.

        • +1

@PVA: Yeah I have looked into HDMI CEC previously. Should be able to take some advantage of it with my next TV I assume.

As I have Kinect my Xbox One still can send an IR on signal to my TV now that I think about it. Just doesn't help with several of my other devices.

        • Doesn't turning your xbox or ps4 on make the tv auto switch to the correct hdmi

Only if you instruct the Xbox to do that. It definitely doesn't work with all TVs, and there are plenty of reasons why you wouldn't want it automatic… so it's optional (and switched off by default).

      • Thanks for the detailed answer - the part I didn't know was the 'activities', but I think I'm ok pressing more buttons

      • That sounds really handy, I have a ps3 set to hdmi 1 on the sony bravia 55inch, optical for audio on the logitech 5.1 setup, and then i have pc set to hdmi 2, direct for sound etc. Could be useful, sick of finding 2-3 remotes for the 1 task. Will check this out!

  • Thanks OP, bought mine from JB back when it was $99.95!

  • Would this work with apple tv and XBMC?

  • +1

If anyone spots any in Melbourne area i'd love to know. Thanks.

    • +1

      None at Chadstone SC

    • +1

      None at Vic Gardens

    • Last one available at Bourke St. Dick smith. They won't hold stock so good luck to anyone in the area.

      • +1

Might have to bite the bullet and pay 85 from JB.

        • +1

          Yup. Bit the bullet.

    • None at Northland SC

    • How desperate you after one, I could help you out possibly ?

  • +3

    None in Belmont WA

    • If you find a stash let me know .. but you have just saved me a trip to belmont.

      • Did you find one? I got 1 for a friend but hes doesn't want it.

  • I just bought the 650 and 350. I'm not upset though. I like the simplicity of the 350 and I love the LCD screen on the 650. Pity they won't do bluetooth and require line of site. I'd love to see something like the 650 that could work directly or control via a hub, but most of all I'd like to see the ability to control this without having to be Internet connected (Database updates not withstanding). The fact that they could pull the web site, or just plain go bust and I'd have a remote I could no longer program really bothers me.

    • +1

      I have the 650 too.

Its great in terms of functioanlity amd build

Highly recommended - if you are thinking of getting one , and its sub $40 , just do it…totally worth it

I doubt logotech would pullthe software anytime soon - even if they did, hakcer community would provide a solution just like they have with Windows Media Centre for example

      • Best thing about 650 and 350 is AA batteries. None of this trawling Ebay and prying open case to replace a dead battery nonsense.

        • +1

And even with daily use, the batteries last like 12 months or so!

    • Logitech go bust - are you joking? They're not Dick Smith or Masters.

And there's no way they'd pull the web site - they have far too many users to do that.

  • If anyone is lucky enough to find some I'm happy to pay a fair price plus post. Thanks!

  • Any stock left in greater Adelaide? Either Smart control or 650. Thanks.

    • +1

No please don't go looking in Adelaide until Tuesday, thanks :-P

      • They don't seem to be answering their phones. Too busy selling logitech remotes

        • Shutupshutupshutup! Thanks :-P

    • None at Churchill Centre or Northpark SA.. Only things left there are Meep accessories and phone covers.
Maybe try Norwood - if you find 2, buy me one please!

  • -2

    Refund my gift card first!

  • None at Capalaba, they only have the 350

  • +1

Will JB HIFI price match this? Or Officeworks etc?

    • I have the same question. Hoping we're not being too optimistic.

      • I have read in previous posts that they will not. DSE is clearing out stock. Others won't be able to match a price like that.

    • +1

No because it is a stock liquidation sale.

    • +1

Harvey Norman haven't been price matching DSE since before Christmas because they considered the start of those Sales as Liquidation Sales. They also told me when DSE would be closing if no one bought it, according to their sources and it's all correct.

  • 3 LEFT INNALOO

    • Thanks dinomartino1, inside Westfield or the outside store?

      • I think they were talking about their outhouse mate.

      • The oustide one, but was on sunday.

        • Thanks

  • Great post.
Spewing as I bought last week for 78.
They don't do refunds do they?

    • +1

I work opposite a DSE and it says All sales are final.

    • +1

Don't be too upset…that's still a great price for the product.

    • +1

      nope, "all sales are final"

      • +1

Cheers, I gotta hand in my ozbargain membership now :(

        • But if its faulty….

  • None in Burwood
    Only 350s for 29.95

  • +1

There is one left in southland…it is locked away in the cupboard..ask the asian guy!

    • Thanks for finding them! Was looking everywhere, they had them hidden in the cupboard & was told they had been "stolen"

      • Maybe shud have got the last one too!

  • BTW, none left at Brandon Park or Chadstone, been to both

  • No stock at Tea tree plaza, SA. Can someone please let me know if you find any around Adelaide?

  • +1

"their prices keep going cheaper and cheaper"*

*excludes 90% of non-dse branded products with original RRPs over $50. I have been watching around twenty products for the last month and they haven't changed from 20% off. Good price on the logistics remote if you can find one but street price had been around $75-80 so $130 RRP is a bit misleading.

    • Yep. I see that too. Most decent stuff is still 20% of. Geez even the remaining consoles game are only 20% off rrp.

  • +2

Bought from Bankstown shopping centre. Few still there

  • "their prices keep going cheaper and cheaper"

Looked at a Panasonic DVD recorder at our local DSE yesterday. Priced just over $350 so I offered them 10 cents in the dollar.

No, they did not accept. See what a few more days brings regarding discount.

  • +2

None left at Kotara or Greenhills NSW

  • None in rouse hill, great deal though

  • Thanks. Got one from the bendigo store a couple of hours ago. Replaced the 650 and I like the mini blaster that comes with it also. Much appreciated.

  • +2

Picked the last one from Gunghalin, ACT. None left at Belco Store

  • Thanks OP, snagged one for myself. Two left at Cairns Central, QLD

  • Any left in Brissy?

  • +1

    None at Westfield Eastgardends (Sydney).

  • Couldn't find any at Garden city or Sunnybank (Qld)

    • I called up earlier today (around 4PM) and was told there was 4 at Garden City? Must have sold out.

      • From not too long ago, they did have quite a few. This was one of the things that I was interested in … too slow though.

        http://imgur.com/Ox6s18p

  • any in brisbane ?

  • So does this include a remote control , or is it just the hub & you control everything by the smartphone app?

  • Got one at roselands NSW this morning they had 1-2 left : )

  • +3

Okay..so the boys down in Parramatta had 5 left, confirmed at a different Dicksmith store.
Went to the Parramatta store only to find none.

BUT …it seems like they like to play naughty.

When I insisted they do have a few left and requested they have a look again as my mate who's the Cbd Sydney store manager confirmed the inventory…..surprisingly (or unsurprisingly in this case) and… they found one.
And started discussing how surprising is it they found one somewhere and how lucky I am…and why is it not on the shelf due to some error or whatever. Yes yes yes yes yes ….bla bla bla

Good they didn't ask my fictitional mate, the store manager's name.

They still should have 4, but be a little 'creative' & 'insistent' to get one from their clutches.

    • +1

Hmmm. None at George St, Sydney CBD. (Loads of 350s though for anyone interested). Maybe I should have tried your little trick. BTW - If anybody finds one in Sydney and works in /is happy to bring to the CBD please PM me. Happy to pay a bit extra for your trouble.

      • Thanks for saving me a walk in the rain to check these two stores!!

        • Didn't realise there were 2 stores a stone's throw from each other on George St (one across the rd from Myer, the other behind the Myer food court). Neither have any.

  • +2

Do they have the harmony one ultimate on sale as well? Would much rather it. Prefer my 650 over the smart control. Doesn't have enough hardware buttons and no lcd screen for additional activities. But I'd definitely upgrade to an ultimate at 70% off.

    • If you could find one.
I searched high and low when it was selling for $99 in December, and not one store had it!

    • I just had a look in the Malvern store, and they had 2 ultimates left. But only at 40% off. They had heaps of 350s, also 40%. None of the smart remotes, and no 650s (the one I want, seeing as I need a new one, and love my 600… pity you can't get them anymore. Don't care about colour, just want another harmony with physical buttons and a screen to guide through family members when they don't point it at the system or want to access more than the activity buttons provide.

  • None of them at my local and all of the others are full price according to staff. fml.

I dont understand why anyone would need this wifi thing…..

If you have a smart tv connected your home network/internet… check
if you have a wifi connected to your smartfone….. check

    Then you already have this….

    • How about your speakers or game console?
This remote allows me to control my sound bar, ps4, and tv

    • Control all the different devices with a single app, including AV Receiver, PC/Media stick.

Also, I have this connected to my SmartThings Hub. When my sensor triggers, it automatically switch on my TV to I guess create an illusion of someone being at home.
The integration goes the other way as well. I can use the remote to control my devices connected to the SmartThing hub, so I can turn on my heater from the same app.

    • The smart phone app is the gimmick. The RF remote is the important part, and if you already have a touch or ultimate remote you can add them to this and have a pretty decent set up.

    • Then you already have this….

      Nope, not even close.

There is a LOT more to almost everyone's AV system than a single (internet connected) TV.

  • None at Broadway, so don't waste your time. Store has been picked pretty clean, but there's still a number of "red dot" (70% off) items left. Mainly iPhone cases though.

  • Seem this few days ago never bothered as full price shown so seen this ad on here and went back and gone oz bargains grrrr

  • Am I able to get the couch with the remote as well?

  • So it seems the hub actually has an IR receiver in order to teach it commands?

Does that mean it can also be used with other Harmony remotes, to allow them to take advantage of the superior IR blaster and bluetooth connectivity?

Also, if you do need to teach it a command, it appears you have to unplug it from the USB power and plug it in to your PC (it can't be taught "in place", for example, from within the tv cabinet)?

    • I don't think you can use IR to trigger the hub.

Looks like you can teach new commands in place if you use the app though.
