$1150 for Oz stock at Costco Docklands for those with a membership

    • I called both Docklands and Moorabbin today and both said they were only selling it on a plan. Only Ringwood were willing to sell outright and they are out of stock.

was $922 3 days ago include delivery with 10% off code

    • +5

Yeah, I don't call this a bargain as it is their normal price, I picked up one on Friday with 10% off.

This is grey import stock and shouldn't be compared to local prices.

  • +3

grey import from China. Kogan will always sell at 10% off.

    • except iphone, they are selling the 6s plus same as apple :(

If it's the Chinese model it'll be the Snapdragon model which has:

      • Worse performance
      • Worse battery life
      • No root (yet)
      • The slow motion camera drops frames
      • Limited LTE band support for Australia
      • Better GPU performance for gaming

It's not massively worse in any of those categories, but it is inferior to the Exynos model which is available everywhere except the US/China/Japan.

      • It'll probably be the hong kong model…..which idk if its the same as chinese one.

I'd play it safe and stick to aussie stock to get the exynos.

        • I grab below from Samsung HK website, seems the HK version doesn't support B28

          S7 edge
          B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B13(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B25(1900), B26(800)

      • +1

It's definitely the Chinese model as it lists Snapdragon in the specifications.

        • +1

          Actually it says both:
          Chipset Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 | Exynos 8890 Octa

I beleive the HK version is meant to be the international version, the Chinese is ONLY dualsim from what ive seen.
The international version should have B28 LTE too :)

      • But 30% better graphics performance

        • Yeah I did mention that. I don't really play games on my phone so the better multicore perormance and battery life is a much bigger deal for me but it is a point in the Snapdragon's favour.

        • @get-innocuous: I thought that snapdragon usually has better long term community support (roms, etc) vs the exynos. Has this changed with the newer exynos versions?

        • @cosjav: I am not sure about 8890 nor how things will be like with it but judging from Exynos 7420, what you said still stands. I don't think CM 13 on S6 is stable enough to be used as a daily driver (judging from what I've read about it), that's saying a lot considering how long Exynos 7420 has been around.

Also talking about custom ROMs, Samsung made it harder to root your device without tripping the KNOX counter as well (or rooting in general). While KNOX had no value whatsoever for many users for awhile (as it's a security solution aimed more towards cooporations and such), it's being used for Samsung Pay (therefore tripping the KNOX counter means no Samsung Pay) which should be coming to Australia soon (I hope at least).

First time deal post, so please be gentle.

Is this automatically appended to peoples first deals or something??

Either way, good price for grey import.

It's their way of letting us know that they've lost their OzBargain virginity…

      Good luck finding stock.

      • +1

There should be when Kogan takes over it!

  • +1

    oh is that all… yikes

  • +1

Specs are misleading. Lists Quick Charge 3.0 when they're only Quick Charge 2.0.

    • +2

Samsung hobbled the qualcomm quick charge 3 to match the quick charge 2 of their exynos unfortunately

I do not know why anyone would buy a Samdung device at this price when you can get something like a Xiaomi Mi5 for almost half the price. Possibly the biggest KIRF company on the planet.

      where to buy Xiaomi mi5

      • +1

I managed to get a Xiaomi device last year, it looked good, felt good, the hardware was decent, it was fast,

At the first couple of days, I claimed that I would never look at a flagship mobile phones from Samsung or Apple, as xiaomi middle ranges can fulfil all my needs. However the software is not that good. Even now I cannot get my emails pushed to my device. Cannot share content through email (email failed to send), don’t know why, but just cannot. Finger print sensor sometimes refused to work. All the build in ads, Wifi connection problems. With all these complaints, I’m in the market for an Samsung flagship.

For those recommend Xiaomi, Don’t just look at the spec, focus on the user experience.

Im not one to defend Samsung, but the much larger AMOLED screen of the Edge along with Software that doesnt look like it was designed by a 12 year old Chinese girl makes the Samsung a much better device over the Mi5.
Im interested to see what Xiaomi do with the Pro version with a larger screen and hopefully AMOLED, im guessing they wont do anything about the software though.
Samsung have been making an effort on the software front even though its worse than most others out there. There hardware is 2nd to none inc Apple.

      • -6

Samsung is man and Apple is woman. Samsung says it has a better brain and figure, Apple has better brain and figure without saying.

      • -3

Touchwiz is an absolute joke aesthetically. Even though the software on the Mi as you said looks like it was designed by a 12 year old chinese girl, it is still much more coherent than the appalling touchwiz and the icon looks like they were designed with the rest of the UI in mind than plastered across UI using random pastel colors.

There is a reason why people say that they prefer stock android over touchwiz any which day. All that remains is hardware and I agree it is good (still not as good as Apple aesthetically) but Xiaomi is close and is as powerful. Sorry but I just cannot take Samsung seriously with that ugly skin on Android which destroys everything that is good about Android. They cannot write software for their life.

        • Samsung did start to allow people to change a lot of UI elements since S6 (on its flagship at least), in fact everything you've mentioned can be changed, using themes.

I thought people prefered stock Android because Samsung just adds "useless" features that takes up resources. Many many people preferred stock Android over TW even before Lollipop (when Google started introducing Material Design). If you don't use S Health, it's annoying to have it preinstalled, if you don't use the music app that Samsung provides, that takes up space so on and so forth. That said, a lot of them have been taken out.

I do agree that Samsung's software team needs to improve heaps. That said, things that you've mentioned are not really applicable imo. Something like their Lollipop builds for 5.0.x would be a good example of their mess up. While Google did mess up in the first place, Samsung should've fixed those problems in their build as they do a lot of modifications to Android (which makes them bloody slow on updates as well).

What u pay is what u get

  • +2

So back in the days, Samsung supporters would always say "iphone is ripoff, $1000 lolz, who would pay that for a phone etc"

Can I just get the thoughts of those same supporters on the price of this phone?

No need to get hostile, I'm genuinely interested to know how you feel :)

    • I was never really in that camp (I quite like the iPhone and have recommended it to people) but the reduction in value of the AUD means all tech costs extra now. The SGS7 which retails at $1150 would have cost $800 in 2011. Samsung does also have significantly better quality manufacturing in their handsets than they did a few years ago when they were plastic.

Also the most expensive iPhone now is $1529.

    • yeah back in the days iphones (or any phones) weren't worth $1000. at least now with improved specs you can maybe justify forking out that much for a flagship

    • back in the days, AU$ > US$!

  • Does anyone have one of these models?

  • Not only is it the normal price, but its also Kogan. Kogan that sells grey stock…

My samsung s4 mini arrived in a cardboard kogan labelled box, with a kogan charger, poorly printed instructions and shoddy item number labels.

The little you save honestly isn't worth the insecurity that comes with it. I mean don't get me wrong the phone works, but i have never felt perfectly good using it. There's always the worry of if something happens to it, who and what do i do with it.

Don't use Cashrewards because they never pay up! I emailed them with 2 invoices and after 2 months still nothing.

    • Use Cashrewards people, they do pay up and they do pay a lot of us! don't let one opinion ruin it for you

      • They'll pay if you're willing to wait 3-12 months.

Some people also never get paid.

        • similar with all cash back websites, there may always be 1/10 that have a drama.

but do you take a chance and get free money for minimal effort, or choose not to do anything and get nothing.

        • Will use PricePal from now on.

  • Shop at ebay kogan for 20% off - comes in roughly $820! - ckogan20

    • are you sure? read this post carefully!

      • what do you mean, imahapyboy?
Why the riddle? I read this whole post twice, was the phone not discounted with the ckogan20 deal?

  • Does anyone know where to buy Samsung Galaxy S7 edge dual sims ?

    • I know, but it's very expensive. It's grey import and cost US$832.53 + 10% GST.

You still want to buy one?

  • wouldn't ever buy from somewhere that doesnt tell you what model number it is…you literally dont know what you are getting.
