  • Worth upgrading from a Oneplus One?

  • Black is back in stock

    • All color are back in stock and the brown on is going quick

  • +2

Canceled my first order and ordered the red one! Hope the cancellation process is straight forward with Kogan?

    • How do you cancel it on Ebay? Did you contact them?

      • +1

On Ebay, the only option was to contact the seller by email (which I did); I also forwarded the confirmation email from ebay to [email protected] after getting on a livechat with Kogan. If all these steps doesnt lead to the appropriate outcome, then I guess I will get on livechat again.

i've been lying in wait for this puppy to hit a price like this, finally! got the gold, going straight into a case anyway :) any case suggestions?

    • Interested to know what other G4 people are using

    • +2

      I have this case
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-G4-case-Genuine-VERUS-Verge-Ex…
Not really recommending it as the coloured part wraps around the rubber part and the plastic makes it not so flexible. Near the charging port, the plastic part narrows to a tiny strip and that was the first part that broke when the phone took a fall. So now that part comes away from the rubber and doesn't look good.

I'm currently thinking of this case instead
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-G4-Case-Genuine-TAGGSHIELD-Sli…

      • +1

I was looking at the Verus too, but on Amazon there were photos of the same issue you described, so it appears to be a common durability issue.

      • Envoy vs Taggshield I guess, the former has leather feel back which is why I didn't buy the Taggshield

        • The Spigen cases look OK too but they aren't as available here in Australia or even out of Asia, more of a UK market product in general I think.

      • Thanks for your advice, I went with the Taggshield and glass screen protector. You get $1.60 off if you buy them together from the same seller.

    • thanks for the case suggestions guys! it was a great starting point for my searching. almost got the caseology then realised i can go thinner cos i have the plastic gold version, so i'm gonna try out a Ringke slim. reviews like it, but it's not as good shock protection and some say can be hard to remove, so if it bugs me (going to be porting in/out each month w/Amaysim/Voda- thanks OzB!), might up my drop protection and get the caseology or maybe a spigen hybrid :)

  • I currently have a Note 4 (sent for repairs due to hardware faults; thanks, Samsung!) but damn, this is too cheap to pass by. I will miss the S-Pen but I think with the current Note 4 prices on eBay I might even walk away with a profit!

  • +2

+1 from me, but after buying an S6E and S7 recently, I'm putting my wallet under a brick, hiding it in a garage, locking it and throwing away the key to prevent myself from jumping on more bargains

    • You pay using Paypal anyway so you don't need your credit card from your wallet, as the details are already saved in your Paypal account. So putting wallet under a brick won't help.

Lucky I could get the local G4 for only $240 on my plan… Very good phone though..

    • +1

How much is your plan per month?

  • Can you upgrade this to Marshmallow ?

    • +2

Arrived for me already upgraded to 6.0 (even through the blurb indicated it was running 5.1)

      • any known issues?

        • Some of the pre Feb 16 models crashed into a boot-loop after an upgrade to marshmallow when streaming audio over bluetooth, but a hard reset [power button down for >8 seconds] seems to fix that. The Whirlpool thread seemed to suggest it was only the Optus branded models locally that suffered, and not many of those.

        • @terrys: thanks for the tip…..still holding my breath on the checkout page :p

        • @hopper:
I was expecting buyer's remorse after going for the deal as I'd been eyeing up a cheap deal on a Canon Powershot sx530 - then I checked out what the camera on this baby can do :-)
          I don't really need a telescope.

        • Telstra Air doesn't work with 6.0.
          Some BT devices won't pair.

        • @Phoebus: whattttttt :(

  • This or wait for G5??? Argghhhhhhh………..

    • It will be a long wait for the price to go down, i would say 9 months to a year?

    • Amazing price - buy now!

  • Thanks for the post. Just ordered black one.
not intending to use it in a case but guess need to buy screen protector. any suggestions?

    • Get any good tempered glass one from ebay (nuglas is good)

  • Wondering if I should Buy it now or wait for an Australian Stock for a similar price??

    • +1

You will wait a while I think.

    • +3

You could end up waiting until G6 come out for this price.

    • I was also waiting for the same… but could not resist buying this time.

  • Any idea where I can buy the Quick Circle Case for the G4? Also, how does Wireless Charging work - do you need to buy a specific dock for it or something?

    • +1

Look at my posting on the first page, there are loads of third party options around.

Qi is a standard, so you just need a Qi charger once you have the Qi bit inside the case. Lots of cheap options.

  • +1

Dammit, still got my Nexus 5, which there is really nothing wrong with, and my current OPO but it's so tempting…..

    • Same here. Nexus 5 is still going good and tossing if I should buy this or Nexus 6p.

      • 6P is too big for me as well as being way off of what I am prepared to pay.
The only thing it has going for it is the 240fps video as I could really make good use of that at work.
If the G4 had something better than my OPO, which can do the same 120FPS as the G4, I'd be on it in a heartbeat.

Interested to see all the articles of the new iphone SE has everyone predicting that there will be a rash of full powered smaller flagships now and I really hope that will be the case. The only one that does (did) it is Sony and they just canned the Z series. 4 Inch is too small but 5 inch displays or just under is about right I think, as long as the rest of the phone's features aren't scaled back along with the size.

        • I have a Nexus 5 still fine (battery decayed a bit though) but ended up impulse buying a G4 anyway!

        • @J4ckal: Yeah i ended up going with the Z5 Compact in one of the other Kogan deals. Dearer but the better camera and smaller size tipped it over the edge for me.

  • +1

These are also cheaper at topbuy and other grey importers but how is it better to Kogan ?

    • Are you sure? Links?

    • Topbuy sells the G4 for more than $400. They're obviously cheaper if you compare the prices without using Kogan's 20% off. Kogan is cheaper with the discount. I haven't been able to find any other website that sells it cheaper than $370 AUD including delivery.

  • Hurry guys I just orders three G4s for my family. This is cheapest price I've ever seen.

    • All in different colours?

      • 2 blacks and 1 red.

        • +6

Here at ozb we prefer the term coloured & native American.

  • +1

Pleanty of deals like this to be expected in future

    http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/03/20/deal-alert-forget-th…

    • +2

      thats approx $415 AUD shipped

      • That specific one yes, but nobody is realistically going to pay that shipping cost.
Point intended was that LG have dropped the price of the G4, so we will see this price reflected on items that have recently been around the $500 mark. Sub $400 is the new expectation.

  • +1

After the debacle of my recently purchased Samsung s6 edge for $640.00,and the phone arrives DOA, finally today eBay ask me to return the phone to them and they will give me a refund.

It came all in time for this deal. I've just ordered it from my current LG G2 phone. The delivery date of mid April worked for me perfectly ask I will be overseas between now and mid April anyway. Hopefully the phone will arrive in working condition.

Thank you for this timely deal! Very good value!

    • Who pay for return shipping? Was it also kogan?

    • What's DOA? Pardon me..

      • +1

Device is "Dead on Arrival"..means not working when you got it.

        • Cheers.. thanks! Sorry.. not so much used to lingo.

  • +1

Killing me that I'm in canberra and just jumped on the optus 10gb postpaid deal and this phone can't access canberra optus 2300 band 40.

  • Just realised that the RRP for Australia is $799, which is insane.

  • +3

I've been trying to hold back not buying this phone since the eBay 20% off, but it keeps popping up, now under $400 too. UGHHHHHHHH

I will calmly wait for the G5…If I can anymore

    • But the G5 may double the price.

      • Only double?

      • I know :( might have to wait until the g9 is out

    • I'm in a similar boat. I've got a Note 4 and am quite keen to go back to LG. G5 looks like my cup of tea, but think I'll be in for a long way before it gets to sub 600.

  • +1

PSA: bootloader is locked on these so forget about custom ROMs. Only EU models had it unlocked.

  • Why is G4 so popular? i want to buy a mid-range phone and I am so inclined to buy this one after seeing comments from OPs.

    • +3

Because for this price you are only able to get the similar spec with China brand phone.

      • What's the price difference with the nearest decent brand phone with similar specs? If you know..

It looks all colours available whilst I didn't try to check out. Can someone verify please if tried? A bit confused by seeing posts mentioned some colours gone and unavailable.

    • It is gone in the afternoon but Kogan put more stock in.

      • Yeah they are from Hong Kong, so should have a lot more than you can buy.

  • Having used note4 over a year and being temped for this one as I always wanted for the leather design is there anyone using 2 phones and works well? A phone for each pocket, Samsung in left and LG in right?

    • +1

I use 2. LG in left and iphone in right.

  • fantastic phone and fantastic price. battery life is the only downside.

    • Thanks to replaceable battery, you can carry a extra battery.

    • Isn't Andriod 6 improved battery life.

      • I've not noticed any difference at all …..I did have to disable the auto screen adjust, as many times the screen was at 100% and was killing the battery by running it at at the brightness.

      • As I know YES.

  • +1

    Good deal

  • Bought one.

Now looking for a tempered glass protector. Anyone recommend one that I can get from ebay?

  • Damned tempting at this price, almost went thru with purchase but 3wk delivery time from outside au.. I shall wait for a local deal from mobileciti or jb I think..

    • Oops. erroneous post.

    • I bougt one last week from Kogan on Tuesday, arrived yesterday. Their delivery was suprisingly very quick.

Just upset I paid about $70 more.

      • tonytone,
Do you remember if the listing mentioned that it was from outside AU? perhaps they had stock for that initial sale in a local warehouse whereas these are now being drop shipped?

What was the manufacture date of your phone? Hopefully it's fairly new and not part of the pre-Oct 2015 builds that reportedly are prone to the boot-loop issue.

I must say having slept on it, the deal is every bit as tempting as yesterday and I'm re-considering if the delivery times are as fast as yours

        • I ordered on the last Kogan deal (about 10 days ago) and paid around $70 more. Shipping was from HK via Toll Global. Order arrived in about 5 days. Phone is Taiwan version (bootlocked) and build date is Feb 2016.

I'm pretty happy with the purchase. At this price I'd definitely take it - performance is good, battery life is a bit so-so (but just keep a charger at work and its all good).

        • +1

          @klownz:
Thanks, decided to take a gamble and ordered one in Red.

Figure any issues can be covered by either Kogan or worse case Paypal, you're right, at this price it's hard to see the local stock getting close to it within the next few months and I've always got my current busted phone as a backup…

        • @inertia8:

Yeah although Kogan gets a bad rap, I'd consider them more reliable for a warranty return than some of the other ebay'ers selling grey imports. I think they cover return postage for a warranty return.

  • Just ordered

  • Can someone please confirm whether you can root this on stock MM without unlocking the boatloader (since you can't unlock the boatloader unless it's Euro)

  • LG G3 Processor - Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400

    LG G4 Processor - 1.8 GHz Hexa-Core Processor

Doesn't that mean the G3 has the better/faster processor?

    • +1

It was, but it suffered overheating problems apparently.

      • I have the G3, it hasn't overheated yet. Is it worth upgrading?

        • +1

The only big improvement from G3 to G4 is the camera. So if camera is your priority in a phone, then yes it's worth.

    • +1

The cpu speed is higher but it doesn't necessarily mean it's better. The G4 has the Snapdragon 808 with 6 cores and the G3 has the Snapdragon 801 with 4 cores. The G4 is probably more efficient at multi-tasking and performs better overall because of the extra cores. Based on the benchmarks I've seen, the G4 ranks higher and outperforms the G3.
