  • but it's optus

    • Thanks mattydee, i was keen until i read your comment which destroys all interest
      (read: optus suck)

  • Would be such a good deal if there was no $20.00 starter pack cost.

  • im with optus at the moment with no problems, anyone tried liveconnected? im interested.

  • im with optus too and they have been great to me. I would like to know anyone who has tried with these people too, it sounds tooo good to be true.

  • What does this mean:
"The price shown is with advertising"

    and from the web page:
    "No cancellation fee"
but the rep says opt-out costs $3?

Also: What are the actual call rates? SMS costs? etc?

    • It's exactly as it says, it's a no contract SIM so if you want to stop using it then you can just cancel it with no penalty, ie. no cancellation fee

The advertising opt-out is where you pay an extra $3 per month and you will stop receiving SMS ads. They have a FAQ here:
      http://www.liveconnected.me/pages/Advertising-FAQs.html

As for call rates, it says it's an 'Endeavour 20' plan, so all the rates are here:
      http://www.liveconnected.me/products/Endeavour-20.html

You just need to browse further through their website if you want more info. That's all I did.

  • its all on the site wayward. umm its $3 to opt out of advertising so costs u 30.99 a month instead if u dont want advertising. 85c a min, 25c sms. advertising says 2 to 6 sms/mms a day! 1.6% surcharge on credit card.

also, if i sign up, are you going to go out of business in 6 months and lose my number eg. M8 network. can i tether my iphone for free? are calls billed per minute or per 30secs? any terms and conditions on data like in 3g only or some crap? SELL ME liveconnected :)

EDIT: been on whirlpool and everyone on there says they haven't received any ads since connecting…

    • Hi - sorry missed the question.

When we launched 4 months ago, some wondered how we could do the deals we do and still be in business. 4 months on we're still here, and our founder has appeared on Sky Business Tech Report talking about the new way of business in the telco world. We're here to stay and grow.

Re your concern on loosing your number, with any carrier or reseller there is a 7 day period where you can port out the number. If M8 did not arrange this for you or other affected clients, its highly unethical and negligent.

iPhone tethering we cannot do unfortunately. Optus have decided to keep this little goodie to themselves and subsidiaries.

Ads - yes, our policy is no spamming. If we don't receive ads from advertisers that we believe are targeted and of relevance to you, we don't send them. Simple.

      Hope this helps.

  • as long as its not Three, its fine.

When you're not in a 3g area (using an iphone), it automatically goes to data roaming which is on Telstra's network. Its $2/mb.

Don't join Three, especially if you have a phone where every button you press might require data usage.

I should of stayed with optus!

    • +2

Actually, Three have dropped their roaming rates to 50c/Mb, so that's significantly less than $2/Mb.

Not that it's cheap, but just wanted to make sure people weren't misinformed.

      • Actually, I believe if it drops out of range of the three network, it roams onto Voda now that they've merged their Australian operations, then if Voda drops out, then you fall back to telstra and get charged per meg. Still not ideal, but better than going straight to Telstra like it used to be until recently.

      • So its cheaper to roam on 3, than use data on 3, how weird.

        • The 50c/MB roaming rate assumes you have a data pack. If you do not have a data pack then the roaming charge is something like $2/MB.

  • Is that 400$ credit for Live connected people only for live connected, or can you call people on the optus network with that 400 $ credit??

I ask because the optus free time is for anyone on the optus network (optus/virgin/tpg/liveconnected)

If that 400$ works for other TPG/Optus/virgin users then thats perfect..

  • im with liveconnected after coming from TPG mobile and optus pre paid, and yes u can call anyone on the optus network with ur $400 extra credit (ie. dodo, tpg, liveconnected, virgin etc etc)

im on the apollo20 plan, great value and great service. btw they charge per 30 secs and i opted out of ads.

    • They charge per 30 seconds? Since when :|

And can you verify the 400 Extra credit, since your on the apollo 20 plan… I might test it next month… lol But thanks for your reply. I hope your right!! I sent them a mail to see what sinvolved in changing plans..

Thought I should say, 8$ extra for 400$ credit to optus network people (i call a few of those) AND 750 more meg. Seems like perfect deal :D

      • massari/forenzic - its per minute charging.

the $400 credit is for other people on Live Connected.

    • Is that written down anywhere about the credit? The site only says other Liveconnected mobiles (which it doesn't define further. The T&C's don't mention it either - it does say 24 month committment though, I presume that's not for SIM-only plans.

If the credit is only Liveconnected mobiles then its useless for me and I'll stick with the 14.99 TPG plan.

      • Hi - try this one (Apollo 20), might be more for you - http://www.liveconnected.me/products/Apollo-20.html

        • No thanks it costs more than the TPG one ($9.99 for me - I got it a while ago).

Can you answer my question about the 'LiveConnected' credit? Does it work with Optus, TPG, Virgin etc calls?

          • @gadgetguy: Fair enough. The only TPG one we can see only gives you $50.

On this plan, the $400 is only to live connected

On the Apollo 10/20/40, the free time is to all Optus and re-sellers including TPG, Virgin

            • @liveconnected: Mine is $300 credit plus free calls to TPG users in the evening and the calls are cheaper. I have two of these at $9.99.

              • @gadgetguy: Your deal sounds good - but it's only available to you and someone like me for example could not buy it. We have to compare apples with apples - cheapest comparable TPG plan (without bundling) is $20/m. LiveConnected are still good value.

                • @cyssero: Point is there's nothing here to make me move.

  • just send an email to change plans, one off $10 fee to cover admin costs and yes i can verify i call people on optus/tpg and dodo network and there is no charge in my online billing for these calls.

  • i did just pop my sim into a 3G usb modem i have here, and i can confirm its not working but thats ok, the sim was purchased for use in a mobile anyways :-)

  • -1

mmm the sims should be cross compatible with the 3G modem and the mobile handset ?? unless you need to activate 3G or change some of the configuration settings?

i know when i was overseas and purchased a normal sim card to use as 3G .. i had to send a code via a mobile first to activate it.. maybe the same deal with this.

mmm tpg has some run for their money with these deals .. im pay $14.95 currently for the $300 plan .. the only thing i read in the T&C of LiveConnected is that they dont allow Roaming! :( im happy to pay for any extra charges incurred, but would be nice to have that feature available

  • i dont need roming so i cant comment, yes ill try the sim in 3g modem again soon (data is activated as i use on my mobile) and play with the settings, sleep now, i was on 14.99 tpg mobile also but then changed to live connected apollo20 plan as wasnt much more and comes with 200mb data, happy days :-)

  • Can I port my number? cheers

    • As it says on their website, "Keep your number or get a new one" so I reckon you can definitely port your number

      • irlking/mad1dude - yes - definitely can port your number

  • -3

Talk & Text Value to Anyone - $350
Talk & Text Value to Live Connected - $400

85c per minute plus 35 с flag fall!!!

There are significantly better plans on the market. Neg from me

    • If you read, the 400$ can be used for optus GSM peeps. Name a better plan ??

    • You also get 1GB of data, which is pretty good value. Or does that not compute for you bob19?

    • its better than call rates of most major networks. plus the 1gig is unheard of for that price.

    • +1

Agreed, unless you can use the 'Live Connected' credit with other Optus phones (Optus, TPG, Virgin etc) as claimed by one of the posters earlier. Still can't get a straight answer to this so neg from me too.

  • -3

I have an $69 Optus business plan (with free iphone 3GS 16GB) which gives me about
    - $1250 worth of credit
    - unlimited texts SMS/MMS
    - Free 5 minute calls to 3 numbers 24/7 (including landline) - unlimited*
    - 1 GB of data

I still think that this plan is not that good, coz they get a lot discounted rates than we do, and they are offering a much lower plan. They only good thing abt it is that there is no contract, otherwise it doesnt seem that attractive.

    • theres only one problem with your suggestion of the $69 plan abdalian… You need to have an ABN which i dont have

      • +2

        abdalian - you're comparing a $69 plan to a $28, that's a price diff of $41 and the total credit works differently.

On the Optus plans - you first use up the Optus2Anyone bucket, Then you get Optus 2 Optus. So don't b fooled what you're getting is UP TO $1250

From their website: "2. Optus2Optus Value: Customers must utilise their "Optus2AnyOne Value" before being able to access/use the "Optus2Optus Value". If you exceed your plans "Optus2Optus Value" in any one billing period, standard rates of your plan will apply. "Optus2Optus Value" excludes some call and message types."

    • how is that a comparison at all? this is 28 dollars. some people don't want a 69 cap mate, how is that worth a -ve vote? anyway, can you please answer my above questions liveconnected, i want in but need answers. thanks

    • There is so much wrong with your argument im not going to even start explaining it..

    • My Ferrari is better than your Holden. Therefore your holden is crap. Nevermind they are two different things with a different price tag. Apples and Oranges much?

    • It almost looks like you're bragging about your $69 plan and its offerings. There is no comparison between that and this for $28 - on any level.

  • What about iphone tethering on this plan?

    • hatchy - No iPhone tethering sorry. Optus keep that to themselves and their subs, we're a reseller and don't get that as yet.

      • thanks for the reply mate. im with optus now and rather than pay their tethering charges i use a tether configuartion i got off the net, would that work for you guys if i just used the optus tether profile? the apollo 20's looking like a good option now too, because of the free time to other optus carriers. 300mb is probably enough.

        • Hi - never heard of the tethering configuration so can't really comment. But hey if it works, can you share it on our Facebook fan page, there's probably a couple of others that would like to know too. Here's the page => http://www.facebook.com/liveconnected

          tks

  • hi, i was wondering how do i port my number from tpg to liveconnected. How would i answer this:
If postpaid what is your account number

because I don't' think tpg has a account number. Anyone have any ideas?

    thanks

    • TPG is an optus reseller, so we can use DOB.

But if you're ever unsure of your a/c number you can ask your provider.

  • oh thanks alot. very quick reply^^

  • hi is there an offer comming for the Endeavour 20 likethe 10 plan? 2ns SIM for $2.99?
    Ian

  • is credit card billing the only method of payment? ta

    • yes

  • You know what…I am with TPG and I joined them when they were new and have loved the service.

I am willing to give you guys a go and if it is as good as you say it is I will shout the praise from the rooftops.

I have signed up and paid using credit card.

    :)

I will reserve my vote until I have the card.

Congrats on the deal and welcome to OZBargain

    • thanks Matt - we'll do our best.

  • +1

Hi all - we're switching our servers overnight to get our dedicated SSL certificate, as a result the store may not be available overnight.

  • liveconnected - i've just ordered, if i delay paying for a week or so will my order still be there then, ready for payment? I just spent money on prepaid credit which sucks…

    • Hi - the offer closes tonight, and so all orders have to be in then.

  • hi. i have a few questions before i sign up. i'm currently with TPG. If i sign up for the 27.95 plan, do I have to call up TPG to let them know i'm cancelling with them?

    lastly,

i currently using tethering through my LG KU990 to use the internet on the laptop. Do i keep the current settings on my phone and laptop (being optus)? i'm abit confused with all the talks about about iphones not being able to tether.

    • Hi

When we bring ur number across, it automatically cancels ur service with tpg. pls b advised tpg may charge a cancellation fee or port out fee.

yes u can still use ur lg tethered.

  • been tring to activate for a couple of hours with no luck…any idea's?

    • Hi Matt - we auto-activate within 24 hours of delivery.

  • do not use this company especially if you are thinking of porting your number, isnt worth at all the price you pay. the reason they do auto active so that they can START CHARGING YOU. FOR 3 WEEKS I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MY SIM CARD TO BE DELIVERED BUT THEY PROVIDE EXCUSES THAT THE CARD HAS BEEN DELIVERED AND PROVIDE ME FALSE TRACKING NUMBER TOO.
WELL if you still thinking of sticking to this company i suggest that you obtain a new sim card. Never and never to use their service as your primary just relay them on your secondary as you do not want to miss any of your important calls when they cant even provide significant service
