    Are digital codes for consoles region locked? I know it normally doesn't matter for Steam but thought it was different for consoles. Can anyone confirm?

        Thanks - good to know for future reference as I normally avoid digital codes for the Xbox One unless I'm buying directly from the site or console dashboard.

          I agree that my previous comment can be taken out of context but what i meant was that some people have already aquired all the previous games digitally for free. Gears 1, 2, 3 and Judgement (360 versions) were available via Games With Gold or if you played the remastered version online before the 31st December - as you've stated.

    Couldn't get the code to work, and after contacting Microsoft support, got this message: Thank you for patiently waiting as I've rechecked all the details here on my end, the code is valid code for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition - Day One Version, but this is region locked to United State. This is the reason why you can't redeem the code. Buyer beware I guess.

      And just got a full refund from Amazon, so if you have problems redeeming your code like I did, you can always get a refund by contacting Amazon customer service.

      Well, all four Gears of War games (on the Xbox 360) were made free via the Games with Gold offer. I doubt they would make the remake free.
