  • Just for clarity, signed up before posting, cant see credit showing anywhere on the app

  • Me too. I haven't provided credit card details, a little wary. Thanks OP for the post.

  • Sounds dodgy af and the english on the site is average at best.

    • Should've said, I heard about the company on radio :)

No credit here . Sounds like a scam

    Also very bad grammar

    • +2

No credit? I didn't realise you're in Perth.

      • there was no personal attacks. Ask neil to confirm if you wish as he can see the edit history

i revoked my neg after neil's comment here

and cant see any deal here as Uber is far superior and cheaper, and $20 uber promo codes always floating around on ozbargain.

EDIT: i see you edited your post after you accused me of personal attack.

        • As I mentioned further down, if it wasn't for uber and their surge pricing then it probably wouldn't be a deal, but more competition will only be beneficial for users.

This company having no surge pricing will definitely make the difference during peak periods.

And they seem to reward current users (mentions of discount codes for a Facebook share etc after the trip). Uber only mainly reward new users, which as you said requires new number/email etc. A lot of messing around.

          @Spackbace:

(mentions of discount codes for a Facebook share etc after the trip)

Well its all talk until it happens, and unless they generate enough revenue to fund these promotions it aint gonna happen

According to your and pointless comments logic (OZbargain Deal Powlice), this is an inferior deal that can also be considered as spam by some

          @easternculture:

Am I gonna have to put up with your snide comments in all of my posts? Showing your true colours there EC.

If you actually had read the debate going on in the forums, you'd realise the stance I'm taking in the situation, and it's not on the same page as PC.

But you know, you could always actually comment on there if you feel so strongly. Or are immature cheap shots more your thing?

        • +3

@easternculture: EC, why don't you comment in that thread and clarify your position or stand if you dont like what is discussed in that thread. This thread is for specific deal and let it be.

    From their Facebook:

hi folks - just downloaded the app and wondering if I was in the first 1000 in Perth to download it and get the $15 voucher?

    A:

You did make the first 1000 and automatically qualified for the discount. This discount is not a voucher but programmed to kick in with your first ride.

    • so its basically luck. you may or may not get charged. There is no way to tell if your from the first 1000

      • If you are the 1st 1000 you are entitled to a discount (I assume you have to sign up as well as download).

Play Store is showing 500 - 1,000 downloads. Not sure with iOS.

However, you can't actually use the service until March 31 so you would assume they are below a 1000. Perhaps sign up then contact them to see if you qualify.

        • Play Store is showing 500 - 1,000 downloads.

So basically most likely the promo has expired

First 1,000 People to Download 'Shofer' App, Get $15 Credit

Best to stick with Uber, $2 SIM = new account and $20 promo codes are always floating around on ozbargain (see below) + Cheaper rates with Uber

        • @easternculture:

Depends too. This company isn't offering surge pricing, which would make them a better go-to on a Friday/Saturday night.

I noted that on 1 fare estimate I did, these guys quoted $51, uber was like $35-40. Surge pricing, especially on a longer trip, would mean I'd be prepared to try these guys

      • When did you move to WA?

        • i fly to perth every now and then

        • @easternculture: cool, let me know when ur next in town….me, you, SB - we should all catch up….maybe go to the gym?

I'll reserve the shofur…Have an upvote …looking forward to it, cheers cuz

    Also, they launch March 31.

  • Is there a list of uber competitors in Australia? I know there's GoCatch, and now this, but what else?

    • Ingogo, and a new one just approved that is supposed threaten uber - iHail

      • These small companies are peanuts compared to Uber. Uber was valuated at $70 billion is 2015 and is backed by wealthy investors including google ventures.

Wouldn't be surprised if Uber ends up buying all these small companies for a few hundred million dollars which is peanut money to them.

        • Yes I agree, too little too late. Uber has already dominated the industry. However any competition at all is beneficial to the consumer.

        • +1

I'd actually be more surprised if Uber would even bother.

  • Looked at the Play Store screenshots - Android app looks like an iOS app. Instant dislike.

  • People keep saying to wait for Uber credit, but there have been little to no offers from them over the past few months.

  • Interesting how they made it Perth specific

I just don't see it succeeding against the bigger players

  • Thanks OP im up to give new operators a shot
