    Bought a C4… pretty good value for the price and Sony's android skin isn't as intrusive as Samsung's.

          because if I am not mistaken, the htxt3 deal belonged to another deal and not this one! People have to remember that the whole issue in here has to do with this deal and that is all… no one is negging TA (fantastic operator) or Sony (not sure about Sony anyway) but it seems to be all about how deals are treated depending on variables such as poster, timing and items list.

    Does anyone have either of these phones? It would be good to hear an opinion.

    It is also difficult to compare the phones. Looking at the specs, one says battery '2400mAh' and the other says 'up to 12 hours 47 min./ up to 682 hours/ -'

    Same story with some of the other specs. Trying to figure out if there are other differences apart from one being waterproof.

      Seems like they are mainly made for the Indian market to rival companies like Lenovo, Micromax and Xiaomi. Similar specs but Sony pricing.

    There seems to be a great deal of emotion in this thread, which makes it difficult for people who are genuinely looking for any of the Sony deals. However I understand the issue many have with TA as he is looking to profit from being first to market. When he received the accolades and chocolates, as well as the pay on previous Sony deals everyone was happy. But on this one the deals are average at best. I believe that if people are going to jump in early because of their own profit motives and things don't work their way then they need to face into it. TA should not be held in the esteem he is as he is merely here to use this forum for a profit motive. He is exploiting what this site is about, genuine people looking for bargains. Its not like TA & Co will shout everyone drinks at Christmas. He is here to make money. The issue with giving people rope and bending the rules is that at times a mess will occur.

He really doesn't care about the quality of the deal because in the end he is here to get paid. How is he not exploiting the site when there are pages of anger to this point.           I am not some child that needs to come on here and gain votes in a popularity contest. Seriously. I am thankful when people post genuine offers and deals. But this vitriolic abuse it unwarranted. there are too many keyboard warriors.

    Why have the number of negs dropped from 24 to 20? They were at 24 for a long time, I come back tonight at it's 4 less. Maybe somebody had a sook and asked for the negs to be removed.

      Because there is a loop hole that allows the community to revoke a negative if the total of negs on ANY comment is -6. Also yep reports would have being all time high.

      What we learned is that negative votes are just a formality and probably shouldn't exist as there is too many rules in casting one.

      Thanks. Certainly doesn't seem fair. We only get 5 negative votes per day, but unlimited positive votes. All the fanboys can abuse their positive votes to remove legitimate negative votes. Disgraceful.

        Indeed, the worst part is that you can have 99 comments outlining reasons why the deal is bad, but it only takes 1 comment to be negged by the masses. Furthermore once revoked you don't even get a second chance to put in a legitimate comment if you didn't the first time.

        Positive votes on the other hand are accepted on face value, even though in this deal I can bet 100 of these votes were fans and nothing to do with the deal.

    Ozbargain is no where near as good as 2 years ago. I used to see store reps posted their deals here, we can request a better price or a different model added to their site. Now, I can't really tell the deal is good or bad because the voting system is very unreliable. Just my 2 cents.

      Agree many times I have seen questionable deals passed off as 'great' when really they're not bargains.

      Store reps seem to get hammered by people but if the same deal was poster by a favorite it would most likely pass.

        I think the admin should set up rules like if anyone "voted +" must prove they have purchased the item when requested just like "voted -" with a link to show other stores are cheaper.

          Sigh There's always Top Bargains and Buckscoop if you have an issue with the deals posted on here… Though they have nowhere near the spam and sockpuppeting deletion that we have on here.

          Oh, and yes you used to see more store reps negotiating on here. The problem is that they ran away from here because of a lot of commenters hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. Same reason the top posters continually change over the years. It's tiring having to explain yourself to people when you shouldn't have to.

    Came across an interesting article which explains why Sony Australia was selling the C4's at 60% below RRP (and 42% below grey import prices). In Australia, apparently the white version was a Dick Smith exclusive, and the mint-green was a "Move" exclusive ("Move" stores were run by Dick Smith). Only the black ones were ever meant to be sold by Sony Australia.
    So the people buying this phone at $199 have unknowingly purchased from the Dick Smith fire sale :)

    Sony has a fairly average website.
    Online had zero Xperia M5 stock yesterday so I drove down to the Sony popup at Chatswood and found no M5 left in stock :(

    I decided to buy online even though they were out of stock but by then (yesterday evening) it was showing full price and unable to buy.
    I checked my phone and I still had a browser open with the $299 deal. It let me go all the way through to checkout but I was anticipating a cancellation email.
    Today it has already been dispatched :)

    Deliveries are completed via a DHL partner and tracking requires flash. I could not see it on my Note 2 or Ipad.

    I missed delivery and phoned to have it redirected to work. They will deliver Monday as it is 48 hour turnaround for a redelivery (even to the same address). Pretty poor but thankfully this is not urgent.

      You are doing better than me.
      The courier phoned me at 6pm last night asking if I was still at work to receive the package. Nope :(
      He is going to redeliver today but no sign of him yet.

      I wouldn't panic about the seal because it has come direct from Sony, not a 3rd party. And, as it is end of line, you will probably end up with a refund if you return it. (It gives you a chance to test and return with a good excuse though).

          Mine just arrived :) its for Mrs Smashed though…

          Just noted that the charger is 850mA .. what is that all about.
          I will continue to use a 2A charger else it will take 4 hours to charge up.
