I bought a Remington in 2001 for $17. Used once a month, my haircuts roughly cost 9.4c each.

    • +2

      roughly cost 9.4c each

      That's hot

    • +5

And next year they'll be 8.9c

    • Hopefully your haircuts don't look as much as they cost :O

  • Is this mains powered or battery?

    • Battery-powered

    • From provided link:

Lithium powered battery operation, titanium infused trimmer blade, self sharpening blades, rubberised non-slip grip, up to 60 mins cordless usage time.

  • So this can shave face and head?

    • +54

      And miscellaneous.

      • +10

        like the cat..

      • +2

So it can tidy up around the stump?

        • +2

and possibly all the way to Timbuktu.

        • +2

@cornbeef: Safe in Tasmania I am assuming ;)

        • +1

@Huntz: Yep - only need to worry about the opening up the Derwent.

  • +1

Good find, was looking for a lithium powered trimmer and this one seems great for the price.

  • Awesome! Purchased from Good Guys Ebay store to get a bit of cashrewards (hardly much but every little counts.) Click and collect so no postage to pay :-) Thanks for posting!

  • Out of Stock everywhere :(

    • The stock is still available in VIC

    • Did you try the ebay store?

  • Brilliant little bargain. Just purchased one about 10 minutes ago. Pickup from the Brighton Store

    • +11

Your not going to cut your dick off if that helps.

      • +2

        You're*

        Does that help? :P

      • +1

What if they have a micro penis?

        • -1

Then they would be called JustIn.

        • Dunno maybe you should ask Montorola.

Seems like he is compensating for something by correcting me :P

    • +3

Yes, with care. All about angles, and-um, loose skin can be a bit hairy.

"We've got a bleeder!" runs on repeat every time, in my mind.

      • From personal experience I take it?

    • +3

My friends' friend informs me that you should be fine if you keep your skin tight.

      • Thank your friend's friend for me.

        • +4

          I mean for my friend.

      • I'm over 60 - have you any idea of how much of the table I'll need.. :-/?

  • +1

Purchased it from the eBay store. Thanks for posting the deal!

  • +7

Also available on ebay if you want to use cashrewards

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Remington-PG525AU-Cutting-Edg…

Just realised after my purchase from ebay that cashrewards, paypal, ebay, citibank, visa and I all get a cut from the $17.95. That's some middle-men in action.

  • Excellent. Due for my annual haircut.

    • Don't be a bush ;)

  • +1

Buying this costs less than a decent haircut! I just need someone trustworthy to do it now.

I bought this model from Myer a while ago and the cashier made it really clear "Keep the receipt!" I thought it was unusual that she put a fair bit of emphasis on that, but I discovered why a couple of months later. The device did not retain charge at all, it would run for maybe 10 seconds. I think this is most likely because there's no "smarts" in the charger; the battery ends up being hammered and its useful life is drastically shortened.

Did I keep the receipt though? Of course I bloody well didn't.

    • +1

Your debit/credit card transaction info usually serves as proof of purchase.

      • +1

If that's all you bought, it might.

I've had it contested in the past.
"That just shows me you made a purchase for that amount that day."

      • +1

It was one of the few times I paid cash.

  • Good find. I was overdue to replace the AA powered VS one I got for $8.95 from HN a while back (sourced through Ozbargain of course).

For those looking in Brisbane, the Oxley, Mt Gravatt & Carseldine stores all have stock.

    • AA powered

Hope they were powered by Eneloops

  • +1

Been looking to purchase something like this for ages! does anyone know if they're any good for more 'delicate' places?

    • Mate just buy now ask questions later! But yes they're good for everything

Anyone had this brand before in clippers? I bought an Aldi branded one which was rubbish (broke within a few uses)… Not sure Remmington has a great rep?

    • +1

They are okay, last about a year or two. I've had 3 of the older versions so far. Battery doesn't seem to hold for very long after a year hence me replacing them.

    • I also bought the Aldi rechargeable clippers and I agree total rubbish. Of all the clippers I have bought the Remington ones have been the best except the cheapest mains operated model which had dull blades.

    • i've been using the rechargeable aldi clippers for years now… still holds its charge well and i use it around every 4-6 weeks.

think they cost me $30 at the time (they were the ones with the blue back-lit LCD display that turns red on low charge).

Would be keen to buy the Remington set but i can't fault the Aldi set i bought.

      • +1

Mine is the same model (Visage) still holds charge quite well, but when you turn the dial to the two shortest settings .8 and 1.8 mm the motor slows down considerably like it is clogged or something. I have opened it up to see if any hair is blocking the mechanism but it's all clear.

        • Have you tried oiling the blades?

Mine does slow down a little if the blades haven't been oiled

        • @edrift: Yep oiled the blades but it still slows down a lot, looks to me to be an alignment problem but good to hear yours is still going strong, mine did work well for a few months at least.

    • I bought a pair of Remington Pro Power HC-5810 5 years ago (for $30 from Billy Guyatts) and I can't fault them. Extremely quiet, very sharp and battery well strong enough to shave face, head and trim the hair around my man bits and only loses about 2 bars on the battery meter. These clippers have a ceramic blade, so stay very sharp.
I can only assume they are no longer sold in Australia, I can't find a retailer for them, anymore…

  • Is it out of stock? I keep getting "The product "68503" cannot be ordered."

    • they are still selling it through ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Remington-PG525AU-Cutting-Edg…, I just received checkout confirmation for two, get in quick..

    • GG staff informed me today that it was a pricing error and that they were aware of the item getting "Ozbargained" - the Oxley, QLD store had over 70 orders and sold out within an hour yesterday afternoon.

  • All gone I think

  • Will this work for beard trimming?

  • Out of stock for pick up throughput victoria or am I missing something?

    • Out of stock in WA too.

  • +4

For this price the trimmer is good. It is not great for trimming thick beards though, very slow and you are required to pass over multiple times to get a proper trim. I bought this a couple months ago to replace a similar old remington (http://johnlewis.scene7.com/is/image/JohnLewis/230421142?$prod_exlrg$) and it is just flat out not as good. Much less power, no microusb charging and seemingly duller blades.

Probably worth a buy at this price though, especially if you're just shavin ya pubes.

    • Agree. Any deals for full size clippers?

  • these are huge pieces of junk and will fail… buy cheap buy twice..

    • I bought a random chinese brand for about 10 AUD and it works decently. 3 years later it does hold the charge for long but enough to charge the night before I cut. Saved me so much time and money.

      • ive had some great chinese clippers, i think the problem is the standard of "cheap" gets even worse every year.

when i bought one of these i was astonished at how cheap and shoddy they were… barely lasted 2 months. not worth 50c

  • +4

    damnit, OzBargained

OzBargain i have a love-hate relationship with you.

Found this one on eBay, just $5. Is it legit or fake??

  • nothing left for pick up in sydney stores

  • +2

Thanks Op. Ordered from the ebay store about an hour after the deal was posted. Just a call from the Essendon store to say they run out of stock (it's been selling like crazy) but can put an order through for me for more stock if I'm willing to wait. For this price, of course I'll wait!
