  • Op are you affiliated with this company in anyway?

The website is just an order form - it looks about as sketchy as you can get

And then theres the torch itself - 800 lumens my balls.

and then theres the price and quality - i reckon i can get a similar one for undr $10AUD on ebay

And you want me to order 5?

    LOL

    • No association whatsoever. Was thinking about it myself but 5 is the magic number.

Anyone else in Melbourne intrigued enough to go in?

      • Yeh no worries, ill just post you the cash

        • Sure

        • +1

@Jackal: address and name please, ill double down and take 2 - scrimshaw and trojan seem keen as well so that makes 5!

Cant wait to send some morse code to MIR Space Station with this little baby

        • @pointless comment:

          crap, I'm in as well?

Just shut up and take my money.

        • @scrimshaw: you dont wanna miss out

        • @pointless comment:

Since PC wants 2, why don't you buy on behalf of myself, scrimshaw and trojan?

        • @Jackal: ok, will do…just pay me back whenever, i just saved so much with the discount it feels like im actually making money…youd be stupid NOT to buy these!

        • @pointless comment:

Proof of purchase please. Then I'll send cash. Via express post.

        • @Jackal: no worries, ill send it once i get back to my bunker

Huh. This got in my face on Facebook the other day. Bloody reeks of a pantsing.

Had to laugh though making out as if 800 lumens is all military and 'tactical' n sh** and should be illegal. Blind a bear? Yeah a stick will blind a bear too, Or a flamingo..

  • spam..

  • It's a rebranded crapfire chinese torch.

This flashlight is worth no more than $10 USD.

    https://www.fasttech.com/product/1668600-ultrafire-878-1-cre…

    • Is it worth 10USD? Would buy this instead if it's any good.

      • It is slightly cheaper at Gearbest, only buy it if you are protected with Paypal.

You will get what you pay for. I have about 4 or 5 different torches in the $10 dollar range and they are all OK. The quality is variable though because the torches don't get checked or tested at the factory.

  • Way overpriced for a light which is very ordinary

  • Please explain the term "Military Grade"

    • +2

It's marketing. The correct term for components designed to military specifications is 'milspec' .. And there are standards.

Using 'Military Grade' means they can imply some sort of connection to the military without actually complying with a formal spec.

      • So true - such a throwaway marketing term.

Makes me think this product is more salesmanship than actual value.

But perhaps the words will make the buyer feel good.

  • WTF…now you have a link to a torch thats 1/3 the price included in your post?

    • As i said. I have no association.

      Thanks mods!

If the claim of the XPE led is in fact Cree's XP-E led the actual throughput is 80-100 Lm

Another Chinese torch with a Bs specs remember to divide those lumens by 10 to get the actual throughput of this thing.

  • if you want a torch tell me i will find you one!

    • One that can "fend off bears and fight terrorists without firing a shot"?

    • while youre at it, Id like one that is way overpriced to sort out the men from the boys, but offers an attractive discount when buying, say, 5 or more?

And it also must have a bunch of bull plop specs squarely aimed at rubes and rednecks

      • And one that we can use to communicate to Astronauts in orbit

      • specs are true in some sense like most torches now days use aircraft grade alloy and military spec anodizing.

its probability got a fake Cree in it. its a zoomie so its not waterproof its a cheap brand so probably comes with an adapter to convert 3 AA to a 18650 size battery. it is most likely highly under-powered maybe 1 amp if lucky.

I dont care, As long as it

          CAN KEEP YOUR FAMILY SAFE

        • I'm genuinely trying to find a good compact, weatherproof camping torch though.

          Any recommendations?

        • @pointless comment: Any torch can! cause robbers are scared of light! lol

        • @Jackal:
yea give me a price range and preferred batteries?

        • @aussieprepper:

Lol. Since I was thinking of dropping 50, anything sub 50?

As for batteries, of course eneloops AA or AAA ;)

          @Jackal:
okay cheap and not so bright but people love them because they are good to modify…
          http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_226844.htmlI

I like the Hugsby XP2 great little lights
          http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_197633.html

You might need to use a lithium 14500 for this i am not sure.
          http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_293609.html

These are great i have one but way over your budget but super bright have a search you may be able to find one cheaper? fenix and thrunite make light similar.
          https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10001842/1800800-authent…

Basically if you want power from a AA battery or batteries you will need to to run about 4 at once like these torches do.

I can find you a super bright torch and battery and charger for $50 but it would be lithium ion?

        • Claiming against specifications all comes down to quality control though.

That the batches of alloy are matched against source / not fake / mixed products. That the anodizing process is carried out in accordance with the specification.

The military pays a lot for ensuring product meeting specifications, and the governance involved.

I got this as a SPAM posting on Facebook earlier today…

It was posted underneath that post of a super yacht that millionaires all over Australia don't want me to see…

  • So does this product even have an IP rating? It was tested by the military? What did they think? Did it fail the 'test'?

We are one of the only carriers of this amazing light bulb

One of the only - so how many other vendors have used this. Surely this is not a selling point.

I can't find any specifications on this product on the website, nor performance characteristics…. only big flashing 'you've been approved for a discount' and 'BUY NOW' messages.

OP - I'd stay away from these guys.

    • +2

So does this product even have an IP rating

They barely have an IP address mate…so i doubt it

  • stupidest post ever. Spam + scam. Lucky other users edited to show the same torch 8x cheaper
