  • Oh wow…. thats actually amazing….

  • Hi OP,
Can you confirm if these would straight swap factory stereo in 2009 Subaru Forester XT Premium S3?

    • Are the factory speakers in a 2009 Subaru Forester XT Premium S3 6.5"?

      • I'd be more concerned about the midranges. ~6.5 in the door and tweeters near the mirror or on the corners of the dash is fairly common. If the car originally had smaller speakers in the doors, can use spacers. No tweeters, only need a ~50mm hole to flush mount and they generally come with several mounting options. Mid-woofer though? Probably 4" and not that common, which means finding somewhere to mount it.

      • Last time I tried to install 6.5" into a forester (might have been a few years older, it was a GT series) most of the time was spent hacking away the factory Subaru plastic mounts they had in the doors as the windows got stuck on the back of the speaker without them.

Horrible car to do stereo installs on.

    • HI !

no they are not a direct fit they will need mounting plates etc and a bit of work to get in

      many thanks

      JP

  • I have the 2 way version of these and they are great! Theyre basically a direct copy of the Hertz HSK165XL's (I think there was some sort of collab between the companies).

Any deals on the 2 way version? Or the coax? (I assume there is a SRD1700 coax?)

    • this 3 ways system should be a copy of hertz hsk 163

  • does it fit 2015 corolla hatch?

    • +2

Not many cars will take a 3-way setup without fabrication.

Added to that, these really need an amp to get the proper value out of your ~$400 spend! Add sound deadening to the doors to finish it off.

  • This post has made me ask this question:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/242004

    Any reputable installers in Brisbane?

  • Im interested too. Not sure if these would fit into my 2008 Honda Accord but ive been after some decent speakers since I got the car. Im hoping to keep my head unit and hope around 400-500 tops installed for something that sounds better than stock speakers is within the realm of possibility.

    • If you don't amp them, you're wasting your money.

      • I agree, these probably aren't for you. I'd spend 300 or so on a 4 channel amp and a cheap subwoofer in a box. Amplify your front speakers with a high pass filter and the rear 2 channels bridged for a subwoofer (doesn't need to be huge, an 8-10 would suffice if you dont want boom boom).

If this still doesn't tick the boxes, spend a few hundred on some components.

A lot of factory speakers really come alive with some amplification. I simply did the above with my Golf GTI (although i added a much more expensive amp/8" sub combo that is built to integrate into the factory system) and they really improved out of sight.

        • Ok, I hear you guys about the amp but I'm more interested in detailed and clear sounding speakers. If thats amped then so be it but I know from home audio you dont need subwoofer to get enough bass, just more bass. If I was to get anything done it would invole in speaker clarity. Ill keep learning as I go, thanks for the info.

        • @Al Kider:

Upgrading the speakers is fine without necessarily adding a sub. If your car fits 6x9s on the parcel shelf, running some decent power to them could give you the necessary 'doof'.

Installing 3-ways would require some labour, you might find 2-ways would be easier. As mentioned already, a decent 4CH amp to power them and the 6x9s up the back would suit. Don't forget Dynomat in the front doors to take advantage of the decent splits.

  • I have Holden VF 2 Ute and want to go bigger bigger base. I know nothing about speakers. Every one thinks this is a good deal. May I ask why (beside price)? Does anyone know how it would compare to the current stock speaker system in the Holden vf2?

    • +1

Commodore stereos lack bass. I sell the things and I can assure you, from just stock, they lack bass. But the problem is that you need the necessary components to hook up and amp for these splits, it's not like the head unit just has standard outputs.

Any aftermarket stereo, installed well, will crap all over a stock system. It's just commonsense really, manufacturers don't spend lots on the stereo because 80% of their clientele couldn't give a stuff!

      • Thanks Spackbace. May I ask you what you would recommend for a good set up?
