  • Merge posts?

    • fine by me…but I don't know how. I considered editing the original to be the 4GB but thought it would just cause more confusion. The 16GB card is not a bad price, but was a mistake.

I'll leave it to the mods to decide what's best.

    • Yeah, could just update from other post.

  • Why catalog is not published on MLN website ?

    • by the look of their website I'd guess they really just want to sell laptops. This stuff is just loss leaders to get bodies into the shop, they don't want all of melbourne coming in and just buying cheap memory cards IMHO

      • my guess is that they would get more 'unsuspecting' buyers from the catalog when compared to the website..

Great deal, not that i really have a use for this personally. I suppose i could shove it into an SD card adapter or my little Sandisk mobile mate MicroSDHC card reader and treat it like a 4gb usb drive.
I'm currently looking to upgrade from my 8gb Sandisk Ultra MicroSDHC class6 to a 16gb. I nearly pooed my pants when i saw the 16gb SDHC card in the other post for $35. I thought 16gb micro, no way! haha

    • "I nearly pooed my pants…" lol. same here, hence how I overlooked the fact it's not a micro.

I wish MLN came to Sydney.

These are 2X rated 4G microSDHC. The read speed is approx. 18.2MB/sec. The write speed (best case) is 5.9MB/sec. Read test was done using HDTach. Write speed was done by copying a 3.5GB ISO file and measured the time taken (9.75 minutes). Obviously, copying 1 big file will obtain the best case figure. On average, the write speed would be much slower. So, in the best case situation, it is close to a 6X.

Just for a comparison, my Kingston 4X rated microSDHC only writes 5MB/sec… so these 2X rated Sandisk can outperform my Kingston 4X when copying big files.

Thanks OP, just swung by and picked one up for the mp3 player.
    Handy bargain, cheers.

PS they also have 4Gb Kingston USB drives for $4, if anyone needs one.

    • Omgsh, I want one..
