Any discounted $200 Monster HDMI cables :)

    • Only Mini HDMI is on clearance at $5 each. Must be a huge discount consider you have to pay $499 for "Monster Black Platinum Ultimate High Speed HDMI Cable"

      • Scotty FYI that is micro HDMI (type D) mini HDMI (type C) is different Link

        • +14

Last time I bought the $499 black platinum cable, the sale staff opened a bottle of champagne then called Gerry in for celebration. My arse is still hurt and can't walk straight since that incident.

          @tren: Is that you Sheldon?

        • I thought you had the Diamond series?

        • +8

Yup. When I put on star trek 4k using my 400 cable, my entire lounge room almost transforms into the starship enterprise. But seriously though, with a monster cable, flowers smell so much sweeter, water tastes much more moist, and sometimes I feel as though my tv is leaning in towards me and whispers (in the clearest vocals I've ever laid my ear drums on) "thank you".

I can't tell if you're post was sarcasm but it didn't sound like it

        • @D3m3ntia:

or just 50 installments of $14.93 per month

    • Yeah exactly, I think they were even more than $200. I remember the setup they had at Billy Guyatts Carnegie with a split screen down the middle of a TV showing the Monster cable giving a much better picture than normal cables with the salesmen trying to convince people that once they invested $3K into a TV they must get the cables.

  • +11

Looks like they went to all the dicksmiths stores & bought all the crap to re-sell.

    • at $3 though?

      • +1

they probably bought a shovel load from dse at $3.. look out for dse shop fittings!

  • last time i ordered, they cancelled it!

    • It was a price error. They forgot to add 2 Zero's after the 3

  • +6

This are the actual prices Monster cables are worth.

Advanced Ethernet cable, what a load of BS

"The separate wire paths reduce crosstalk between the two channels, again enhancing signal strength for crisper audio and sharper image when in use."

    • +2

smells like BS to me too

      • +2

How do you remember your username? ;)

        • Probably auto-fill in the browser, lol… or a really REALLY good memory…

        • +1

          @crouchie:

          auto-fill haha

SHARPER IMAGE. FROM A NETWORK CABLE. OK SURE MONSTER.

I also like how it doesn't even mention if it's Cat5e or Cat6. Just network cable. Sharper Image. You buy!

    • +3

with microbeads, for that deep clean that can really be seen.

    • +4

I believe that the monster cables are all crystal aligned, for crystal clear images.

    • +1

Wow a key feature is: "With the 24k Gold Contracts". A great investment!

    • How is this not false advertising. Its obviously total unfounded, completely unscientific bullshit.

    • I hate my audio crisp - I prefer it soft and fluffy.

  • Does this include in-store?

    • No stock at my local, according to the website.

  • Wow, $45 standard delivery for 3 cables. Pity there's no stores with stock near me for most of these.

  • +1

This is interesting…I clicked on one of the links and after a couple of minutes, the standard Harvey Norman Live Chat popped up. BUT, the chat started by saying: "Hello Ozbargainer - Need any advice, talk to a expert now"

I suppose they can see where we clicked on their link?

    • Been the case for few years.

  • +4

I thought this was a monster sale in that it was a very big sale, then I realised it was just monster products
    Left disappointed…

  • +2

This sale is a rort. There's nothing in stock in store. No flat rate shipping. Shipping for cleaners are $5.95 & for the cables it's $14.95.

    Gerry being a professional again.

    • I'm considering the 3 dollar cleaner too. 5.95 shipping though, hmm. What are they normally? Need a decent one for my PC.

      • +2

These monster cleaners are alcohol free. So it's likely just demineralized (DI) water. Bunnings sell a 4L bottle of DI water for $3.44. You can probably get a microfibre cloth cheaply from dollar shops. I recently picked up a pack of 24 from Officeworks where it was on clearance for 25c cents. Never apply solutions directly but instead dampen a cloth and it'll be alright. For other electronics where water is a no go I have a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol bought from Jaycars for under $10. I never spray directly always onto a cloth or qtip. A soft bristled paint brush is also handy.

    • +1

      Had 6 items in my cart…. 2 cleaners and 4 cables/adapters… $89.70 standard shipping… lol

    • The cable is shipped in a bag made of special paper: its microfibers resist electromagnetic field, protect the cable from harmful solar radiation, thus drastically increasing the cable's image transfer capability and improving the image resolution.

      • Don't forget the crisper audio.

For the price they charge for delivery, I think HN must "beam them up" to you.

    • Don't feel too bad you are not missing out on anything you can't get on ebay the same quality and cheaper!

  • -8

    "limit of 1 per customer"
    Pretty useless.

    • +5

Nothing wrong with limits. Stops brodens, and gives others a chance at getting one.

    • +2

That reason doesn't qualify to neg this deal though?

      • I get that it stops people brodening things, but seriously if something is a good deal and cheap, you want to get a couple right?
I just think one is too few for a CLEARANCE sale. Whats wrong with say a 5 item limit. Shit, I bought half a dozen micro usb cables from OW this week because they were cheap.
Anyway, In my opinion I think it does warrant a neg, so I stand by my vote (even if it does get revoked).

    • You can always go into your local and try and get more in person. I've done it before.

    • +3

That certainly does not warrant a neg.

I personally like the 1 per customer deal. Means we all have plenty of chances go grab one.

    • +4

you negged the boss? Oh dear your done :P !

  • Thanks. I bought one of these, against my better judgement.

74.45 postage for few cables to sydney metro, no thanks…..

  • Does anyone know whether it is CAT 5, 5e or 6? Wasn't shown in the spec.

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/monster-dl-advanced-high-spee…

  • +7

After a search of WA, and a quick search of metro QLD, NSW and VIC I couldn't find any physical stores that had stock of the several items I had in my cart (I individually checked). And it's a postage fee of $15 per item, which is obviously inflated. I would say no bargain.

    • -2

whooa…talk about biting the hand that feeds you 😱

      • +3

I know Scotty does a lot for OzBargain, and this neg is nothing against him, but I didn't want people wasting their time like I did. My neg is only to highlight a problem with the deal.

        • This has happened to me the last 4 times I tried to buy a deal at HN - no floor stock in my state (Vic) and ridiculous delivery fees. It is clearly a strategy by HN, and is a sharp practice at best. It's like those early eBay "deals" we used to see. Having sh1t canned internet sales in the past, Gerry has clearly been reading up on the scams and is now a convert.

      • +2

If the hand is feeding poison, then it's okay to bite it.

    • +3

if i upvote this will my account be deleted?

      • +1

Nope. The negs are useful to highlight the issues with the deals. $3 Monster-stuff are cheap, and it's a clearance sale after all. However the availability is limited so justified neg votes highlight those issues.

        • +3

Perhaps using a ⚠️ to highlight issues?
Using a ⛔️ feels so dirty.

        • @muncan: 😂

        • @muncan: I think that's a really good idea. Seems much more inline with what a neg vote is supposed to represent.

  • Selected Items wanted > Total = $39 plus postage = $198.00 - pahaha. Just when you thought it was too good to be true. Disappointing. Thanks though Op. I shall whisk this one away.

  • Dumb old Harvey Norman, trying to sell the Bebop 1 with Sky controller for $200 more than the Bebop 2 with sky controller. How dumb do they think people are ?

  • No stock & postage cost of $15 per item…………… no deal, get Gerry'd.

  • +1

Stores near me seem to have stock… I'll do postage for half of what they're charging and make a killing ;)

  • Is it legal for stores to limit the amount of stock that they sell to a customer? I've seen these sorts of advertisements plenty of times in the past, but I guess it just never really occurred to me whether or not a store is permitted to either limit or turn away customers from buying ordinary stock.

Things like when a store offers things like buy one get one free, I can understand that sort of thing being conditional because the store is offering what I'd consider was a non standard contract of sale. But yeah, like I said I really don't know.

    • i seem to recall, that they must have a minimum which equates to a very small amount. Something riduculous like 5 or maybe less. Im probably wrong, but i beleive they are playing within the rules.

      • Fair enough, thanks for the reply :)

  • +1

Lol, $130 postage for a few cables and phone cleaners.

    • It comes in special Monster branded padded envelops using high quality paper.

  • FYI, Harvey Norman now OWNS monster.

That's what I was told when I bought a cable during the last sale.

  • +1

"The separate wire paths reduce crosstalk between the two channels, again enhancing signal strength for crisper audio and sharper image when in use."

Awesome, crisper audio from my new Advanced Highspeed Ethernet Cable. Sharper image is just a bonus. It's amazing what they can do with these new fancy two channel ethernet cables.

  • So last time HN had their sale, I bought a few headphones and video games; as everyone probably knows, their shipping kept going up each time I added anything to the cart. They said was because items were being sourced from different stores— and I get that, but David Jones, Myer, and JB do source items across various stores and still offer flat rate shipping.

So I bought four items, and despite still paying a pretty penny for shipping ($15) it took about two weeks to get to me, even though 3/4 of the stock was from a store in my state. When it did arrive they only sent me half of my order. I check my email and it does say partially shipped. That's fair enough, since they were coming from different places, so I wait patiently for the rest of my stuff. Another week passes and there's no updated shipping info for the missing video game and headphone. So I contact them— which sends my query directly to the store responsible for PART of my order — I thought maybe it'd sent the query to an office specializing in online orders and they would chase the stuff up. Nope. So my local store tells me they were responsible for 3/4s of my order, and had sent me half of it. They tell me that they hadn't sent my headphones since they couldn't find the item in stock, and thought it'd been stolen and that's why the stock level was off. They were kind enough and I don't blame them, but I asked when they thought they were going to cancel that particular item or tell me about this? Like did they think it'd send itself? Had they just forgotten? So they offer to send me a replacement from a different brand or a refund for that item. So that part is sorted, and that's all good, but I ask them about the last item (a video game) I'm still waiting on? They say that last item has nothing to do with them as it was supposed to be sent from an eastern states store, but if I wanted to chase it up with the Melbourne store, here was their phone number to call that store (which was not free call btw) and find out what was up with my game.

It'd been three weeks at that point, and I was due to go away that very day for 10 days, so I asked for an email address for that store instead. They say they will send it to me later that week, but they forget, so I wasn't able to email in my absence. Anyway, I get back home, and I do get the replacement brand item they promised me, but again nothing is done about my last missing item, and nobody has contacted the NSW store. I write them again and I ask the local store for an email address for that store again. After this I notice in my email that they want me to fill in a survey about my shopping experience, which I do, and I'm pretty honest about the waiting.

Only then does the item finally get sent (although I don't get any shipping notification), and 10 days after I finished the survey I'm on the eve of making a paypal claim for that item, when I receive the item the next day. It was 40 days at that point or so. (Obviously I cancelled my claim as soon as I saw it in my mailbox, but it was funny, they got really crappy about my claim as if somehow I was trying to take advantage of the system).

Anyway, sorry for the length, but my story is a caveat about people ordering online from HN. I really hope they iron out their issues and their shipping but in the meantime, go in store, whatever you do. Don't rely on the online stock level and instead ring up and make them put it aside for you.

I would never order from HN online ever again. They don't have an office that takes care of online orders (or if they do they don't wanna handle it) and instead rely on their individual stores to fix all problems, but the problem is that the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right one is doing. I don't think it's really acceptable when your customer needs to chase up each individual item of their missing order from each specific store it's coming from. Considering how much I paid for shipping, it was really slow shipping and some of the worst customer service I've ever received at an Australian online store, ever, and I buy a lot online. Even with some of the bad service I've received (Chemist Warehouse is always out of stock, Myer have sent the wrong stock sometimes, and my friend received her items hard tagged), they are at least quick to ship from various stores, there's someone overseeing the order itself, and they were quick to sort their mistakes out and apologetic. I didn't get that feeling at all from HN.

So you know, caveat emptor and all that.
