Had a quick search for a flight I just bought a few days ago. Many less carrier options available and cheapest option is 700 more than I paid. So does not seem to be a bargain relative to other flight search engines.
Had a quick search from Perth to New Delhi and got plenty of options. Economy flights like Malindo airlines was also shown in the list of flights. Seems interesting. Will explore more.
Now do the same search dates on iwantthatflight.com.au or skyscanner.net and let us know how it measures up for the same flights.
I had a look for return flights to Samoa during early July and flybuys were around $8 more expensive compared to iwantthatflight so it just depends I guess, I wouldn't completely write it off. Any future points promotions could potentially offset the price difference anyway.
EDIT: Just checked with cheapflights and for the exact same sectors and flight time, flybuys was actually $50 cheaper!

You're not booking directly with Coles you are dealing with a travel agency, airline or hotel nominated by flybuys. I think the answer to the gift card question is no.
