$183 at Umart or MSY if i-Tech is inconvenient for you.

$4 saving hardly seems worth posting it.

Having recently queried this drive elsewhere, be aware that it's 5900RPM (not 7200RPM like the rest of the current Seagate Desktop series).. Just in case that's important enough for anyone to impact their choice..

  • Preorder? I thought this was a current model?

  • Looking for the 4TB Hybrid Model.. hmmm..

    Availability: Preorder 2-3 weeks

lol OP they don't even have it in stock and it's a 2 to 3 week wait before it can even be shipped out since there's no stock from the get go (probably stock being ordered in from overseas). I would say this classes as insufficient stock (since there's supposed to be at least 10 units in stock due to Ozbargain rules). There's absolutely zero available stock here on this deal.

    • From what I can tell that rule is referring to quantity of stock that the deal is applicable to, not whether the item is actually in stock or not at the time. I don't see how it prevents pre-orders for things. As long as there is sufficient stock that can be pre-ordered, it's probably ok.

      Limited Quantity

If your deal has limited quantity, please mention it in the description. If the quantity is too small then your deal may be removed. As a guideline, less than 10 quantity of items is not enough for a deal unless the item has a high price.

Certainly if a product I'm interested in has a good pre-order promotional pricing, I'd like to know about it ahead of time.

I don't see what's so confusing?. It says less than 10 quantity of items in stock is not enough for a deal. Quantity is too small for the fact that there is no quantity available.

Also around $180 is the current normal price for the Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB HDD, there is no promotional pricing that's all bull by i-Tech don't fall for their marketing trickery. Since around $180 is the current normal price then there is no high price because it's at the normal current price. It's $183 every day at Umart and MSY and actually in stock.

There's a difference between them only having stock to cover the sale of five drives with no intent to take back orders and them having the ability to place preorders for 100 units.

Happy to be corrected, but that rule looks to be preventing runout stock and the like for when there's barely anything left and there's an extremely low chance anyone can benefit from the deal, not preorders where the stock is yet to come in but they have a capacity to take a large number of orders. It says the deal should apply to 10 items or more, not that those items are in stock at the time. The offer could still apply to a large volume of sales.

Plenty of great offers apply to items either with waiting periods or for preorder bonuses.

I haven't voted in it as I'm not sure if the price itself warrants it being a deal, but I see no issue with the wait period.

  • i-Tech have a reputation for ridiculous shipping. Expect another $20-30 on top of this price too for shipping. Still cheaper at MSY.

And at least MSY actually has stock unlike i-Tech which have no stock of this. Basically i think the OP has made a mistake and considering as i said Ozbargain rules state that a deal must be posted with at least 10 units in stock which this deal doesn't. There's not even an add to cart button on the web page due to 0 stock.
