yes there is. just twist anti-clockwise and remove the small round white base from the larger base.

    • I removed mine from the frame and used one of these from ebay to mount it on the wall. It works very well and easy to adjust.

      • Awesome tip thanks! Can I trouble you for a photo of how exactly you have it set up??

There you go. The wallplate was already there as there used to be speaker wiring from the previous owner which I didn't need. The wiring came in handy though as all you need is 2 wires for the USB connection anyway, similar to speakers. You get the idea below.

  • I might as well ask here. Does anyone know where the IR LEDs are on these things? The reason I ask is because I painted mine white (except for the lens of course) to match the color of the wall and now night mode is a bit fuzzy. I'm guessing I covered up something I shouldn't have but other than just black plastic I couldn't really see anything.

Try pointing a phone camera at it? Phone camera's can "see" IR. Also I would suspect that they are in the black ring around the lens.

      • bingo! I need to clear another 2mm around the ring

Thanks op. Just bought one . Will come back here when I get it to speed up the setup process..
Just a quick question if anyone is able to answer.
How many hours of video would you be able record on a 64gb card with one of these ?

  • I can't get it to work no matter what firmware or app I tried.

    • For anyone that is having issues with the camera:
Please follow these steps below to fix the cam:

      • Turn off the camera
      • Pull out the memory card
      • Format the sd in FAT32
      • Extract and copy the "home firmware file to the memory card.

      http://xiaoyi.querex.be/1.8.5.1K_201508311131.rar

      • Turn on the camera and hold down the reset button for 6-8 seconds
      • Turn off the camera
      • Insert the memory card
      • Turn on the camera
      • Wait for about 5 minutes (will flash orange, then turn orange, then speak Chinese and then will flash orange)
      • Connect the camera via the camera app
I used this android app https://www.dropbox.com/s/nhx680fo0ukn1dx/HOWTO%20change%20A…

A new MI account is suggested, because of any previously stored location and camera data.

      • mine arrived today, having trouble. think ill update the firmware tomorrow http://xiaoyi.querex.be/
i did expect it to work with the shipped firmware, as others have said it works, unless its now shipping with newer firmware?
that dropbox link to android app is a word document about ios app.

i downloaded the android app from http://www.xiaoyi.com/download/camera (linked by someone earlier)
i created a mi account.(i created a YI account first, but trying to log in cant type in more than 7 letters in email or username field..wtf?) i said i was from china. annoying it wants to link/use google auth. ffffffff

so my error on the app is cannot load or some shit.
the camera…the google translate app gave me so many different translations for the same audio it was funny.
said something about water…maybe "overseas"?? wrong region…yeah ill try the firmware tomorrow.

        • looks like issue with stock firmware.
i installed the k firmware (script version) from http://xiaoyi.querex.be/
I used an existing 64gig sdcard i had with files already on it. Just extract the zip to the root of the sdcard then put in camera. power it up. will reboot twice over a few minutes.
use the chinese android app http://www.xiaoyi.com/download/camera to add the camera. suck sess!
really love the field of view.

        • @MuadDib: Did you select China when creating the MI account? I'm trying to create and as you had pointed out trying to link to the gmail account via Google authorization. After entering all the details when trying to sign in using the account details the phone app says invalid email and it is not registred… :-O

Also after inserting the SD card with the firmware file on it, did ya press the re-set button or just ended up powering up the camera. Please help me out on this…

        • @FUZHA: Ok, finally got it to create myself a MI account during the 3rd attempt. All good and working. Suck sess!

        • @FUZHA:
sweet, i think this is the link to create a my account.

  • still waiting for item to arrive..

    • Mine just arrived, very easy setup by following steps mentioned in many of the above comments (download firmware, extract & put in mini SD Card, download app in China iOS app store, open app, asking for wifi password, scan the QR code from the app and it works). Really happy with all its features..

      • image quality to me seems a bit shit. hmmm everyone was praising it…. maybe i need to twerk it a bit.

        • I bought it for a decent 720p security wide-lens quality and will not expect DLSR or GoPro quality, so no issue there.. found the infra-red quality is great (heck lotta better than my other 720p security-cam)

  • Mine arrived yesterday. Didn't work with app downloaded from google. Then within the app there was a link to scan the QR code for the link to download another Chinese app. Downloaded the chinese app and created MI account and it got connected after few attempts. Then I was prompted for software update for camera when I tried to update the firmware the camera didn't connect at all after that. Keeps on repeating only works in China. :(

Bought extra ones today (great product & rather fast delivery), found out the code is still working.. should not be marked as expired.. happy camper here.

Received yesterday and after a bit of play got them up and running. Is there a way to run these on a network which has no internet connection?

  • -1

I received my camera (Chinese only version). I suggest unless you read Chinese, pay extra for the international version, the app is very hard to use.

I've rolled it back to all previous firmware and none work with the English version of the IOS app.

Some above have suggested even the Chinese version of the app uses English words but unless someone can explain how, there is nothing in English.

    • I am using this app without any single issue (menu in english): https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/mi-home-make-your-phone-cent…
follow instructions carefully, should be smoothly installed (careful to only use firmware as per instructions in most above comments)
I bought 5 items all chinese version and every single one is working fine, international version not necessary.
