Are you sure this is open to everyone? From their website, it appears they are expecting you to have purchased one of their wine system thingys (even though they don't ask for proof)… plus its a US website.

Beginning in July, we will begin sending all of our customers a free Coravin Wine Bottle Sleeve to use on bottles being accessed with your Coravin Wine System, along with a copy of our updated Important Safety Instructions.

If you did purchase your Coravin directly from our website, NO action is necessary. You will automatically be sent a sleeve as soon as they are available.

If you did not purchase your Coravin Wine System directly from our website, and would like us to send you a free Coravin Sleeve, please fill out the form below and we will send you a sleeve once it is available.

    • To be honest, no idea. I found this on a netherlands deal site.

If you did not purchase your Coravin Wine System directly from our website, and would like us to send you a free Coravin Sleeve, please fill out the form below and we will send you a sleeve once it is available.

Seems like they will send it out condsidering that proof of purchase is not needed, and you can select Australia as your address (Most US freebies I come across do not give you the option to select country)

      Worth a shot i guess.

I agree, Ozbargain might need to review their ethics on occasion, especially when dealing with smaller companies trying to do right by their customers. The origins of this sleeve is to protect your wine from breaking when you use their product (as explained in the link below). It doesn't actually offer much purpose beyond that and by exploiting offers, we further erode the good will companies are willing to offer (even though in this case it may of been to cover their asses from recall). Am downvoting the deal only because I feel it would lead to exploiting the company for a fairly useless product.

This is not to keep your wine cool.
It is to protect the bottle from shattering when wine is taken from the bottle through the cork.
    Misleading description.
    See:

Essentially bubble wrap for the wine bottle.

    • Thanks updated haha

    • I dont think so…. You can use their system without any sleeve. Dont see how it can shatter either, its essentially a needle in to the cork. I've seen it in action whilst wine tasting in the states

    • Yeah no its like a stubby holder its made out of wetsuit material, keeps it cooler longer or insulates from the heat etc

    • Lysander is correct in that there were reports that the Coravin wine pouring system was causing bottles to break. The system pumps a gas into the bottle to keep it air tight and the breakages appeared to occur when the bottles had existing damage/cracks. Coravin's reaction to the reports was to provide these sleeves to everyone that has purchased the system. More info here.

You could definitely use the system without the sleeve, but I'm sure there is now safety warnings not to do so.

As Lucky13 said they are made from a wetsuit type material, so would provide some insulation. Coravin also appear to sell them for 14.95USD.
