Chicken Chippies Cooked for $3.50 Woolworths Town Hall NSW

220

Honestly after seeing all these kfc and mcdonalds "deals", this woolworths deal on chicken chippies is unbeatable and has been around for ages.

For a "small" serving of chicken chippies you get a bag with approximately 30 chicken chippies including sauce and a fork if required. Has been my go to cheap snack if I'm coming home from town hall for a while now. Because they're so popular and amazing value they'll be mostly freshly made. I've seen people buy 1 small chicken chippies and ask for 3 bags to split it between them.

It's on the bottom floor at the hot food section. This deal might be at other woolworths too, but can't vouch for their quality or freshness.

    Isn't this the normal price?

    • +2

It is the normal price but not too many people have heard of it, and seeing all these cheap maccas and kfc deals, I thought this was a good competitive product.

        It is the normal price

        So there's no saving then…

but not too many people have heard of it,

Announcements of items selling at normal price are not bargains.

Why the negative votes to JV for pointing out the rules ?

Something sold at normal price is clearly not a bargain.

This section of the website is for special deals: items being sold for less than their normal price.

          Exactly…

It's been selling for $3.50 for ages, is $3.50 now and most likely will be $3.50 for a while to come.
          You're not saving any money.
This is an announcement / advertisement for the normal price of something. Not a bargain.

        • @jv:

Does it matter if something is at it's normal price or not, for the purposes of OzBargain? I genuinely don't know; I can't find anything in the Deal Posting Guidelines that says the deal posted must be a cheaper than regular price.

$3.50 for a large serving that could qualify as lunch seems like a pretty good deal to me, and would be a lot cheaper than what I normally spend on lunch when I buy out.

But jv is the expert moderator who comments a 1000 times a month and on as many posts as possible, so I'm sure jv must be right. jv, if you could clarify whether what you are saying is just your opinion or the website rules, that would be much appreciated.

If it's normal price, you aren't saving any money.

        • @jv:

Der, I think we all understand that. But something that is a really good price can still be a bargain and worthy of a posting here to let other people know.

So just to clarify, there is no rule against this sort of post? You just want to bash it?

Confirm it is very normal price. (and you rarely finish a whole pack)

  • Very generous servings and the chicken salt is amazing - Love it!

    • +2

Chicken salt? Mate, crazy. The thing itself is already abit too salty.

      Chilli one is good tho.

      • +2

Haha yep the chilli one is awesome as well! (with chicken salt of course :D)

If i'm going to keel over from kidney failure, might as well do it with a chicken flavoured grin on my face haha

The hot food section of Town Hall is amazing for a supermarket, but I've not seen any other store with a setup as good… It's very much hidden away on the bottom level

    • i've only seen town hall selling other hot foods but they have a big range of things.

    they'll be mostly freshly made

I doubt that very much. Pretty sure these are frozen and not made fresh…

St Leonards Coles has those big chicken schnitzel for only $2.50

    • That was published May 24th 2013. They're much smaller now due to inflation…

    • That post is two years old… do they still exist? 'cos imma head over there asap if they do, they sound delish! :-)

Coles Wynyard sells the schnitzel for $2.80 these days. Makes for a very cheap meal.

      • +1

they still exist and still $2.50

  • Thanks OP.. Will check it out

  • voted +. I wouldn't know about this otherwise and I used to work on the other side of woolies building

Town Hall Woolies is the best for a cheap lunch, their ham and salad rolls are pretty banging too.

    • I have to disagree, one time I grabbed one and it was terrible as it had been sitting in the fridge for way too long :(

the IGA on oxford street, does some good rolls though, they use brasserie bread and if you go at around 11.30, you'll see them prepping them

This is most likely just your store, or depends on how generous the person serving you is. I work in the deli department at Woolworths and a "small" serve of Chicken Chips is $3.50 and is meant to be only 15 Chips. I think it's $5 normally for a bag of 30 Chips "large".

arent a small chicken chips at HJs $3? Also the Woolworths chicken ones sit there for hours/days and taste shit
