The Australian Consumer Law applies to products whether they’re new, refurbished or second-hand. One important feature of those laws is that companies can’t set an arbitrary limit on how long a warranty applies for.

eisniwre said it was 2yrs warranty. ACL doesn't set a specific warranty length, rather a reasonable time-frame for the device.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

The consumer guarantees which apply regardless of any warranties suppliers sell or give to you, apply for a reasonable time depending on the nature of the goods or services.

So there is no set timeframe of 2 years

The laptops are in full working order and carry a full 1 Year Asus warranty.

That's likely to be all the ACCC would consider to be reasonable, given the asking price, and condition of initial sale. I reckon it would be a hard task to prove longer than a year on a $250 device.

Nothing happened with it - there is no such thing.

Nor is there a "mandatory one year warranty" either.

  • Refurbished
