  • Does this also charge normal USB?

Is that port pictured in the photo a normal USB port?

    • Look at the pictures.

    • Yes

So you'll fully replace any devices these cables will fry??

  • I personally would not deviate from the manufacturers cable with USB-C

Damn it! I have bought this charger for my Nexus 6P only a week or so ago for double the price! It works well for my 6P in the car.

    • This exact one works?

I've never had any luck with car chargers. My phones just get hot and barely charge enough to cover it's standby usage!

      • +1

Had the same problem with cheapy/ebay ones.

There's a world of difference between cheapies and well reviewed / branded products. No more heating up without charging, no more fried car fuses (had that too).

        • Thanks.

I've just had the slim Belkin USB ones that never seemed to work for me. Will try this one though.

        • @zuccs:
I have the same Belkin one for my old Nexus 5 but never tried that one for the 6P, though. That belkin one is only 1amp though.

      • Yes, I have bought it from Banggood as well. It works well and charges rapidly at 3A. I only use it while using GPS on the phone. The phone did get a little warmer, don't know if it is the charger + GPS working at the same time but it works well and the build quality looks good too. Hoping that would last longer.

  • I have one of these with the type C cable hard-wired and the type A slot for charging "anything"

    it works a treat.

  • Very cheap. Hopefully it works.

  • Is this Benson approved? I couldn't find it on his list.

    • I would be shocked if it wasn't, but I can't see it either. Everything I have ever used from Blitzwolf has been really great. I am going to pick one of these up and not even think twice about whether it's Benson approved, I'm that certain of Blitzwolf stuff.

    • duplicate comment for some reason…

      • Not Benson approved*. (I.e. AFAIK he hasn't tested it.)
There are other BW products that are, and others that have failed his tests.

*Having said that, given the cable here is attached, I wouldn't expect any problems with this device.

Almost $4 cheaper than last time. Good deal!

  • I bought this during the last deal and it works great with my 6P. I have my bluetooth media dongle plugged into the usb port for power and the 6P charging rapidly at the same time

  • As it has now been posted that this isn't Benson approved, I'm wondering if we could get a deal on one that is now approved by him - the Tronsmart CCTA model?

Looks good, but he only re-tested that unit a few days ago.
Given that the BG page lists "Type-C Port Output:QC3.0" either that is wrong or this is not the updated version.
We would need to verify that it's the new one by getting the following checked:

The rating text on the side of the charger now clearly states that the Type-C port outputs 5V/3A max

      • Agreed, needs to be certain.

The photo of the text on BG does now show 3A for the Type C port and also in the specs it is listed as 33W which is the correct rating. I'm not sure it was ever QC3.0 on the Type C but it is on the Type A, so may just be a typo.

        • The 1st generation of this product claimed that both ports… were capable of Qualcomm Quick Charge at 9V and 12V… a violation of Type-C spec… which prohibits proprietary charging methods on Type-C connectors from changing Vbus voltage beyond 5V.
Tronsmart corrected… by removing the QC functionality on the Type-C plug.

Yes, the photo shows the new version, so I suppose it's highly likely that they are shipping that one - hopefully a deal will be forthcoming!
