You're my favourite ninja you.. you never tell us how you get the manual links but I don't care as long as you're always around.

      • +1

Agree, he's my favourite ninja friend.

      • Does anybody else know how to get the manual links? We need a back up in case Ninja goes missing. I am guessing Ninja works for Amex or one of the Banks?

    • -1

does it work retrospectively for the breville bes920?

      • The manual links? Not sure.. maybe you can try and let us know? ;)

    • +1

      Bobbi Brown Online

for a second I thought Bobby Brown has a online store lol

    • would you happen to have the Witchery manual link?

  • My amex had offers for
Trenery, (spend $140 get $40 back) and Witchery (spend $130 get $25 back) as well.

    • Me too, but none of the above offers

    • Same for Trenery but spend $50 for $10 at Witchery.

  • Thanks Trent :)

  • Thanks op. Apple excluded. Apple always have this shitty terms added to almost all seller promotions. Now surprising to see it attached to an AMEX deal. Doubt how they can rule out purchases of Apple products.

    • +5

I recall last time that people just got HN gift vouchers and then used those gift vouchers for the apple products.

      • -4

        C. Transactions that are not eligible

The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of the offer:

        • transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the merchant’s goods through a third party department store);
        • transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);
        • transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
        • transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.

        • +1

you must be new to ozbargain

        • @Overtime2000: No, but it's a $100 risk one need to take if they intend to buy iPad :p

Also, gift card seems to be online purchase only, and there is an history that Amex is more capable of tracking online purchase

        • @bargainshunter:
if you base it on t&c's I suppose its a risk, yes
But if you base it on the extensive history/experiences of Ozbargainers with these Amex deals, you'll know there is little risk
I've done both GC + Apple purchases on these things. Basically, there is no way they can tell.

        • @bargainshunter: do you have an English accent? It's the only reason I can think of you would write an history. Just curious, not wanting to bag you in any way.

    • +4

I bought an iPad from Harvey Norman on a previous deal like this one (May 2015), split payment into two transactions across two different AMEX for $100 off. Was spend $300 get $50 back that time.

      • +1

How did you manage that? Did you cast a magic spell on the sales manager? ;-)

        • +2

You don't need a magic spell, you just need to ask them to split it into two transactions in store which is exactly what I did last time. Bought a $600 Dyson heater, and split into two different AMEX for $100 off.

      • The offer is only 1 cashback, multiple transactions over 350 to get cash back

unless you use two cards with two cash back

    • +1

I bought an iPhone and got the cash back split over three AMEX cards. Amex have no idea what the transaction includes.

  • can you buy a product for $100 and then gift card to make up the $350 spend?

    • +1

      From the comments above, yes.

      • +1

Just note HN gift cards can't be used online.

        • thanks for the tip! :)

  • -5

Do you have to get an AmEx Credit card for this or can you get some sort of AmEx Debit card?

    • +3

Credit card. Amex Qantas discovery has no annual fee. Be sure to use the referrals in the wiki for bonus sign up points.

  • With that amount of positives what's there to buy?

    • I'm having trouble deciding what's worthy to get from T2. Feel the teas & brewing tools are overpriced & hyped up =/

  • +1

If only this deal was active last week, the coffee machine would come down to $599 after cash back!

    • +1

Why would you bring this up? WHY?? We can't go anything about it now CAN WE? Why the hell did I buy that machine anyway. Still can't get a perfect taste. I'm on my 5th coffee this morning AND I STILL CAN'T GET IT PERFECT!! No more typing. Must test more coffee.

      • check youtube for tips from the breville channel

      • +2

Haha, love the caffeine fuelled madness. Drink on my hyper friend.

    • I activated and hour that HN was a bit slow with the transaction… One can hope!

    • Would it be $100 off or only $50 off? I hesitated and didn't buy the coffee machine yet!

      • For those who only paid the deposit of $99 or less before the deal expired on 1 May (Sunday), you can easily ask the counter staff member to swipe through your 2 AMEXs separately ($350 and $370) say, and you will be able to get $50 *2 cashback.

        • that means i completely miss the $50 this time. I paid in full online and still have to wait. the machine will be restocked in 5 working days (its what they told me).

    Saw another one

THE CO-OP Spend $50 or more, get $10 back
    Expires 04/06/2016

Not sure if this was mentioned in another post

    • Did I do something wrong? Why the neg votes?

      • +1

You saw something that some didn't see..
I saw that one too as well as Trenery and Webjet

        • Thanks for explanation. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't be that eager to post deals.

  • I pressed enrol now with my Amex online account but the offer doesn't appear at My Offer :((

    • Same here, dunno if it's selected cards only?

      • +1

        It showed up now!

  • +1

looking forward for someone to confirm that gift cards bought in this offer did return the cash back !!

  • Will this work with bank issued cards too?

    • +1

Yep works on my ANZ card.

  • I have two cards in the family, one had registered many of these offers but did not use them in the past and vice versa with the other card. Now I can see fewer offers on the first card compared to the second.

  • +1

With so many Amex offers coming up, I decide to apply for a Amex credit card. Can anyone tell me which one should I apply?

    • +1

I've got the qantas discovery card. It's free so you get something for nothing. :)

Another popular one is the platinum edge card. Has an annual fee but earn rate is higher and also comes with a free return domestic flight.

Be sure to use the ozb wiki for referral bonuses and both you and the referrer gets the extra points.

      • I am looking to get the same Qantas card so I can get the $50 back for the Olympus Em10ii at HN. I really don't know anything about Amex. Does it work like a normal credit card (buy products with it and pay off your balance each month) or a rewards card that you use when purchasing something? Or do you load it up with money like a debit card? Sorry very new question. Also, seeing as you have this card, do you know what it means by this "A one-off credit plan establishment fee of 1% applies to any balances transferred"? Thanks.

        • +1

          Hi.
It probably would be too late for you to qualify for the HN cash back if you don't already have an Amex.

With the Qantas Discovery card, you use it like a credit card, earn Qantas points per dollar spent and don't pay an annual fee. If you decide to sign up, it's best to use a referral: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/american_express_referrals. You should pay off your credit card every month, to not pay credit card interest rates which are very high.

I've never really done a balance transfer before, but I would suspect that if you have an existing credit card and transfer the outstanding amount to this credit card, say $3000, I would interpret it as they will charge you $30 to establish the facility. If they give you a lower rate on the balance transfer, Be aware though, you should not use the Amex for regular purchases if you use balance transfer, because repayments will be used to offset the balance transfer amount, and your purchases will incur the higher rate of interest.

          My recommendation would be to:
          1. Apply for a card, using the wiki referral.
          2. Use it as a normal credit card and
          3. Wait for the Amex statement credit offers, sign up and use it.
          4. Pay off your bill In full, each month.
          5. Earn Qantas points at the same time.

        • @bluedufflecoat:
Great, thanks for the detailed answer!

RE the balance transfers, I didn't know what that was, and it's something I won't use. I always pay my credit card off before fees get involved. It's good to know it's not something that will affect me then.

Why do you think it is too late to qualify for the HN cash back? It seems to be valid till 5/7/16. The card should surely come within that time, and then I just use it to buy the camera at HN? Or is there something I'm missing?

          Thanks again.

        • +1

@Dan83: you have a point. If so, apply quickly, hopefully you get your card fast, activate, and add the offer to your card manually, as it will not necessarily be offered to you, specifically, immediately.

Deal is limited to first 35,000 cards to register, so that allocation may run out.
          https://offerenroll.americanexpress.com/enroll/EnrollmentSit…

        • @bluedufflecoat:
          Ok, will do.

This is all new to me - I didn't realise I need to add / register the offer to the card, I thought I would just use it for the purchase lol.

Thanks for answering my questions, that was very helpful. I'll give it a try.

        • @bluedufflecoat: I'll use your referral for the application.

        • @Dan83: thanks. I appreciate it.

Please get a Qantas frequent flyer account for yourself first, if you don't have one already.

        • @bluedufflecoat: Yeah I already have one, thanks.

        • @Dan83: not sure how much your camera is, but if you are thinking of getting a supplementary card, you can sign up the second card for the deal too. Split the payment at HN (spend $700 or more) and get $100 back.

        • @bluedufflecoat: That is a good idea as the camera is $652, so if I find something to add to the purchase I might do that, thanks. Which would you recommend as a second card? Does the cash back simply go directly back onto the card used?

        • @Dan83: supplementary card, e.g. To your partner or parent? I wouldn't just apply for multiple credit card (accounts) as it will affect your credit history…

Can't really answer your question about a second card account though. Not sure if Amex would be keen to sign you up for two different products in a short amount of time. If you want to try anyway and not pay an annual fee, get the Velocity Escape and earn velocity frequent flyer points?

        • @bluedufflecoat: Gotcha, thanks for all your helpful info.

      Depends on your income.

For bank-issued Amex, the best one at the moment is https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-flyer/… for income over 75k and https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-flyer/… for income over 35k

For Amex itself, go for https://www.priceline.com.au/amex

Both of them are no annaul fee for the first year

  • HN promotion start with "spend 300, refund 60" then "spend 300 refund 50", now "spend 350 refund 50", worse and worse

    • Lol you remind me of that guy who bought TVs and audio from big w with vouchers but wanted a cash refund lol

    • Well, they are testing water see you guys love it, if at current rate of sign up, soon it will be ' spend 3000 refund 5'

    • They had a spend $500 get $50 one too somewhere in between lol

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/kitchen-appliances/coffee-bev…

Nespresso Prodigio $234 after cashback/statement credit. AND includes a $30 HN digital giftcard.

  • Spend 350 dollars at Harvey Norman and almost certainly get ripped off $50 making this deal a break even for most items

    • +4

Maybe it's worth doing some homework, getting HN to match a competitor, then use the Amex deal (provided you're still over 350)

      • Exactly. I got HN to price match the Philips pasta maker with autoweigh for $379 from DJ. $50 amex credit back plus $50 back from Philips is a nice $100 savings. That works out to be cheaper then the old model which isn't autoweigh and has less pasta shape plates.

So if you actually shop around, HN can worn out to be cheaper.

        • Good to see that the community is always optimistic, that pasta maker is starting to be viable at 279 if you are keen on fresh pasta (which I do appreciate). For others less concerned it would take years to recoup the savings outlaid once you include the ingredients, maybe never?

        • @Jackson:

I don't think I've ever had "fresh" pasta before. Is it a difference of night and day?

        • @Jackson:

I didn't buy it to try n save money by making my own pasta. I bought it So I can make fresh pasta, noodles and dumplings FRESH. One main factors is that id rather make fresh noodles n dumplings over buying prepacked products from china.

The other reason is that I have 2 you kids who love to participate whenever my wife and I cook. The look of joy in the faces when they are able to make something that a grown-up has made is priceless.

        • +1

@montorola: Yes, for me night and day. It doesn't ruin dry/regular pasta for me, but apart from cooking in 30 seconds it's streets ahead, the only thing I can think of comparing it to is the difference between freshly baked bread and a loaf from the supermarket. It makes the pasta stand on its own

        • @Jackson:

Damn, you guys are really tempting me now!!

        • @BlitzR: no fair enough, it's always nice to do things with the kids, I was just thinking you might be able to use a manual machine (with the crank). Not sure if kids find it too hard with that

I had to throw that last line in because it is OzBargain after all

        • @montorola: I can just eat it like popcorn, but it's not easy to make with the traditional machine, it's easy to screw up and takes some effort

  • +1

Grabbed a Philips Airfryer XL from HN and combined with the Philips Mother's Day cashback saved $100. Great that I missed buying it on ebay's 15% off (it wouldn't qualify for the Philips cashback).

  • Has anyone received the cashback for any giftcard or apple product purchase in the recent offer

    • Bought an IPhone after price matching, paid using 3 AMEX cards. Got 3 emails, standard wording so should be fine based on previous experiences. Will check in a few days for the credit to confirm.

    • I also have received the cash back on an iPhone with three Amex cards on a previous deal. Being a betting man, I'd take the risk again. There's no way for Amex to know what you spend your money on, and I'd be pretty concerned if they did know. Put in the terms to discourage you from doing so and by the sounds of it may people wouldn't take the chance.

    • +2

FYI, received the cashback 3 days later

  • I priced matched a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 wireless headphones at HN just in time for my trip, thanks OP.

  • +1

Is it just me, or is the website down?

  • Does anyone have the manual link to the Trenery offer in this batch of AMEX offers?

  • Anyone receive credit from the Harvey Norman spend? If so, how long did it take?

    • Yes. I think maybe 3 business days?

      • Damn i guess mine didn't catch on then

        • Do you think that means the Harvey Norman cap has been reached and the deal has expired then? I'm still hoping to use it, but waiting for my Amex card to arrive.

        • +1

@Dan83: shouldn't be. Could sign up for it. Would imagine you couldn't sign up if the limit was reached

  • Does anyone know whether the Amex cashback still works if you use HN gift cards to help pay for a product? With the gift cards I would still be paying more than $350 out of pocket, if that matters at all. Cheers

    • +1

You just need to spend $350 on the amex.
