Pay $8 more and get extra 4yrs warranty from SE.

    DON'T GIVE KOGAN YOUR MONEY!

    Shopping Express:

    5 Year Manufacture Warranty

    Dick/Kogan:

    1 Year Australian Warranty (included)

    • But it costs more money that's not the ozbargain way.

To get proper warranty? Why not just buy it second hand then?

        • Because it's not the ozbargain way.

          @stemcell:

But it's cheaper. Apparently that's the OzBargain way according to you. It all comes down to the cheapest option (according to you)

        • @Spackbace:

You're confusing this site with eBay.

Kogan does not mention GST. I assume that he is not charging GST.

Which means that this deal is much better: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/246617 if you can get the GST back.

This highlights the unfair advantage Kogan has over Australian suppliers. Local suppliers have no choice, they must charge GST.

    • No different if you buy from an overseas retailer. They don't charge GST either.

      • But they will be very soon. I'm sure you heard the federal budget?

    • Remember when the store down town was the only store of that name in the country. You know, a small business, the ones that were pushed out by the chains. The chains had advantages too, and acted on them ruthlessly, which is why the small stores are gone, now it comes back to bite them. Im really not sad.

    • Last time I checked, Target, KMart, Big W, Woolworths etc don't mention GST on their websites either. Probably because they are not a wholesale supplier, but in saying that, I can verify that Kogan has GST on the receipt they issue on goods they sell and I have claimed it through taxation.

  • $8 AUD for an extra 4 YEARS warranty?

    No brainer.

    Ta, Spaceback.

FYI: you can send it: Aus Post, Couriers + Insurance Cover ($24.95) & it's still free ship.

    :)

    • False information, Samsung give a 5 Year warranty on 850 series drives internationally.

Better to read and make your own decision.

The one year is a warranty from Dick Smith, so instead of sending it back to Samsung, they handle it for the first year if you wish to do it that way.

Bottom line is that Shopping Express want nothing to do with any warranty claims once they sell it… now which place is better to buy from again?
