Telstra Nokia Lumia 520, $48.30 @ Target (Further 30% off from Clearance Items)

100

Walked in Target at Hornsby Westfield and got Telstra Nokia 520 for $39. Tag price was $69 so it would have been 30% off from $69, but luckily (?) this one was opened and missing the sim card so it had additional tag for $59 so I got another $2 sim and the phone for $39.

I got the last one but hope you guys can find more stock elsewhere.

Now I just need to hunt for the unlocking code :)

Doesn't officially support 10, and only 512mb ram.

  • don't think you'll find an unlocking code for the 520. Running one on 10, not really usable. only really good as a "I need a second phone to receive calls and texts"

    • This is for my father who broke the screen of his 530 just few weeks back. He manages to stream videos and TV broadcasts with this phone.

I might consider the 640 for myself if I can find one :P

go to castle towers tmr mate, close enough to hornsby! there's definitely 2 left on closing tonight :)

      • I dropped my Lumia 530 in the drink and it's dead but screen is ok. If you know anyone can pick it up in Perth, kwinana area, you can have it with battery too.

I can PayPal you $10 if you can post it in a padded envelope to me. I think posting costs $2 + envelope.

If you have the time, don't worry about it ;)

the only cheap and hassle free way to unlock is to ring Telstra and use prepaid credit to pay for unlock, this phone cost around $27.5 to unlock, so if you manage to grab $30 Telstra sim for half price or $10 then it'd be quite cheap to unlock.

      • Would Telstra $30 Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kit for Tablets do the trick?

        • Yep - as per wiki, they are identical.

        • @magicmoose:

Great thanks! They are $10 at Harvey Norman. Will give them a try :)

  • I haven't played with many lumias but can't you just flash a stock version of the firmware to remove telstra's bindings?

    • You wouldn't really need to, Windows Phones usually only have a few uninstallable telstra apps (if that). If "bindings" you meant the network lock, then no you can't.

  • So is there any 520s in stock?Where?

  • Good phone. Specs aren't too different to the 530 which runs like dog shit. I think this phone had some magic beans in it or something. I had to accidently throw mine at pebblecrete to finally kill it. Unfortunately the 530 makes me want to throw it at pebblecrete. Great screen.
