        • @GameChanger:

          why this deal is controversial.

So what would you have done instead of the current "structure" of the deal?
Why is it controversial? Most people still have no issue with the deal.

I appreciate the work you have done negotiating the deal, but for integrity purposes this deal should be removed. Whilst AminoZ have explicitly stated there is no affiliation, there is no guarantee you haven't received something. The way that this is set up is more akin to a direct referral.

So does that mean the Xiaomi deals made possible from geekbuying and banggood should be removed as well?

        • @pyramid: The community has indeed reacted to this where 26+ people are unhappy how this deal was conducted.

It seems a minority on here will do anything to drown out comments that go away from the status quo.

        • +2

          @pyramid:

Or better create new topic, if you really feel that this needs to be discussed in more details.

Good god. That's happened before and the thread just became a loop of GC repeating the same thoughts over and over again.

Also, while looking at GC's previous posts I found this

I have noticed that some people get worked up over such small things, is it a reflection whats going on in their life or some are born that way?

So GC, is everything okay, or were you born needing to question everything on OzBargain?

        • -1

@cwongtech: Well for starters I would have got the rep to post the deal, so that there is no doubt that no behind the scenes deals were undertaken. Its all about the bargains right? Even though a negotiation was undertaken, the best course of action would have being for the rep to post it.

Which Xiaomi deals are we talking about? Who posted it? If there is an element that a user is gaining a direct referral, yes it should be removed for integrity purposes.

@IceCreamBandit: IceCreamBandit I don't appreciate the personal attack on me.

If you wish to undertake in such behavior you can message me instead of trying to derail the thread.

IceCreamBandit I don't appreciate the personal attack on me.

Where on earth did you find a personal attack in my comment? Take a chill pill!

Nothing I said was an attack, it was an observation about your previous posts/comments.

If you're referring to "is everything okay", it was a genuine question about your wellbeing just as you posed the very same question in your post.

I'm not undertaking in any untoward behaviour, drop the big words and see the comment as it is. I'm allowed to comment just like everyone else.

I personally feel there's nothing wrong with users negotiating/communicating with businesses to get a deal for OzBargain users. Sure there's no way of definitively proving there are no financial benefits for EC but who cares? Those who are doing this are helping this community…so why are we trying to discourage deals being shared on a deal sharing website?

        • -2

@IceCreamBandit: You have taken a comment from another thread, to attack me. That has no relevance to the discussion at hand and so you have made it personal.

Have a look at my example below and see the potential abuse if we allow deals structured like this to continue.

Still can't see where the attack is. If you choose to misinterpret a genuine question about your wellbeing as an attack then that further justifies me asking if you're okay.

  • Here is the evidence and reason why questions need to be asked.

This user posts the deal first and gets a max 29 votes!! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243027

Same deal posted later gets more than double. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243031

If a user that is very well known posts a deal structured like this, they can leverage their brand to get more sales for a store.

    • If a user that is very well known posts a deal structured like this, they can leverage their brand to get more sales for a store.

      Votes don't equal sales.

Multiple factors can affect votes, e.g. amount of information provided in deal description and from your examples, there is a significant difference in the amount of information provided.

      • 2200 clicks vs a measly 800 clicks.

The initial deal was better because it made it clear the % of discount and it was on the whole range! Yet it didn't receive the same support from the community.

        • +1

          2200 clicks vs a measly 800 clicks.

Clicks don't mean sales either, unless you have some actual proof?

The initial deal was better because it made it clear the % of discount

% off sales aren't always a guarantee for bargains. Look at posts on Dick Smith sales before they all closed down. 80% off some stupid RRP for no name cases were still massively over priced when you can get basically the same thing off eBay for next to nothing.

The second deal had a specific product, specific price, and it must've been a really good price to get the votes that it did.

      Just

      Stop!

      Seriously!

      • -2

If you have nothing to add with substance to the discussion then don't post in here.

Making your comments bigger and bold doesn't achieve anything but derail the thread.

        • +3

there is no need for this discussion!

Either report the post or start a TWAM, pick one!

But just cut the crap! We're all sick of seeing you whinge!

Far out, if only you put this same energy in actually posting a deal!

        • +1

@Spackbace: Stop Hijacking the the thread. I have received a couple of messages from people who're also unhappy with your comments. I can provide proof to the Mods, if they wish to see.

        • +5

          @GameChanger:

That's fine. I can assure you that the number supporting me far outweighs the number you have.

We're here to share deals. Not to whinge, not to argue, to share deals.

So how about you step away from the site for a while, coz you're obviously getting way too obsessed with it.

Go on, take a holiday for a week. We'd all be happier for it!

        • +1

          @GameChanger:

If you're a significant contributor maybe more people would listen to you. But let's have a look at your Posting Statistics
And look at any other top posters. Your 7 Posts? vs EC's 1623 Posts?
Since you seem to imply you're well-versed in M&As, who seems to be the significant contributor to this website? While you fight for justice for the small posters, maybe you should find some better deals, instead of being so salty.
Now, while you count the amount of votes on your comment, remember there are over 185000 registered members on this site.
How significant do you think your votes on your comment are?

        • -1

@cwongtech: And there is the issue.

I have had my say and won't be discussing any further in this thread, as unfortunately it has being over taken by people who rather get a reaction out of me, than discuss the issue.

        • +1

          @GameChanger:

          And there is the issue.

What issue? That some bargain posts are better constructed than others?
Description, ease of use of bargain, relevance to the bulk of "active" Ozbargain members, reputation of the store (NOT the poster necessarily), the amount of "good" bargains taking up the front page are all influencing factors on how much votes a post will receive.

Why are you so adamant that the only variable is "how well known the poster is"?
It doesn't matter whether a user has more posts than before.
If you want more positive votes, make it more appealing to the OzBargain community!
Contribute, post high quality deals and the votes will naturally flow in.
Respond and try help others, that's the easiest way to contribute to the site.
Being salty does nothing but increase tissue sales.

as unfortunately it has being over taken by people who rather get a reaction out of me, than discuss the issue.

Nope, just a lot of people strongly disagree with you.

IF questions need to be asked, do TWAM. You are trying really hard but not going to get answer you like/expect. Stop this arguments man, its getting boring and irritating now…

      • If you're irritated don't read or post in here.

26+ people are not happy with the structure, if you have nothing with substance don't post off topic posts that try to hide the issue at hand.

The Mods have being kind enough to let the discussion go on because they also want to see community feedback, its posts like yours that don't help the community improve. Ozbargain is probably the best run bargain site because the Mods actually want to listen and don't hide issues behind the scenes.

        • +3

If you're irritated don't read or post in here.

You appear plenty irritated and you're commenting here…

26+ people are not happy with the structure

75 people are happy with this deal.

        • +4

You are the only one who is having problem…so accept it princess….My advise to you and other 26+ unhappy people is to do TWAM and stop this….You are trying hard but not achieving anything…If my post does not help community then your repetitive boring stuff is also of no use…

Same deal posted later gets more than double. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243031

LOOK at the description in the second post!
The first one provides no relevance to most users.
The second one provides it's true value and example of bargains.

A product that has a brief description over the exact same one with no description will always win if a consumer is picking them up and wants to read a little about its value proposition to them.

  • Any peaor organic protein with low sugar?

  • +1

Trying to order but won't let me proceed to checkout

  • Btw is it possible to use the price match and 20% at same time?

    • Hi Twolate. If after you apply the discount we are still more expensive than any other store in the world delivered for an identical order, then you can proceed to do a price beat. But you cannot do a price beat and then apply a 20% on top of that. - Jay

  • quest bars are f@#$%^& disgusting. it tastes like the ubend juice of labratory plumbing.

    • Hahaha. Atkins bar are quite good :)

  • Has the price of Cellucor C4 60 serving pre workout gone up? I remember the last one i purchased was in the 40's now it's $63. With the coupon and postage included its $57.

    edit

Yep definitely gone up, my last purchase from you guys was $48.95 including postage :\

AminoZ always has specials so it might have been a limited offer .

I remember buying beta-cret for $10 (usually over $40) when it was on special for 2 days (long expiry btw)

      • Possibly. I think it's a rip off at the current price as that's what all the local supp stores have it priced at. Online stores are usually cheaper so i don't know what's going on here.

  • +1

Order shipped today! I ordered extreme choc which was originally showing as back order so I'm pleasantly surprised!

    • Well i recieved my order today! That was quick, long expiry on the protein powder so that's great. I also ordered the beta-cret as an add-on. Not sure what the consistency is mean to be but seems a bit drier and crumblier than I expected. But i'm a totaly noob so i'll give it a try first.

Thanks guys, great service. Will use again!

      • they have a 2 scoop guarantee

        • Thanks might have to use it if it's not very mixable…needs a huge amount of water! Btw how much of the ON whey do you consume in a day? I know it's down to your macros but for a newbie would you just start out with 1 scoop then move up to 2? I feel like I'm way off my daily intake of protein.
