Good deal but only for new customers so not that great for me :P

    • +1

Just letting people know this is not ozbargainers exclusive. You do not need a ozb account

      💰💰💰🐒

  • +2

Hasn't the 20% discount 'pop up' always been available for new customers?

    • +1

nope. it was 5% and then 10% iirc

      • +3

Well, it was 20% at one point in time.

RyanMK: Yeah we did have this at one point, but no longer. With our margins and price-beat we simply could not afford to do this on an ongoing basis.

        • +11

one in a blue moon isn't practical. it definitely has Not "always been available". EC has accomplished a solid business deal.

        • -1

@zeckem: Huh? I received this pop up every time I visited Aminoz and spent a solid 10 mins searching.

        • @GameChanger: I get the 5-10%. As the rep of the site says it was only for a limited time. Have you been visiting the website other than the "solid 10 mins of searching" on those particular days?

  • +7

20% for new customers..why not for all..other stores offer 15% and 20% off every few months like supps r us

  • +6

This was available the other day. Can we get a real ozb discount on top of this? :D

    • +2

I doubt you will find anyone selling the 4.5kg bag for less than $150

      • fair call, and it looks like they've removed the discount for everyone else. Quick q, what flavour do you recommend? I"m leaning towards french vanilla but there are some reviews saying it's terrible! Also any opinion on those bars?

  • +18

Sorry EC I don't agree with this format at all.

I appreciate the work you have done negotiating the deal, but for integrity purposes this deal should be removed. Whilst AminoZ have explicitly stated there is no affiliation, there is no guarantee you haven't received something. The way that this is set up is more akin to a direct referral.

If this deal is allowed to remain the integrity of Ozbargain is under question.

Just my 2cents, the Mods can decide what should happen.

    • -2

Obviously mods dont care. I do interested what kind of offer EC asked from AminoZ tho.

      • +3

Why? What difference would it make to you if he was indeed getting something? o.O

    • +3

Did you even click the link to the landing page?
      It is clearly indicated:

OzBargain user easternculture has no affiliation with Amino Z, but rather is an independent OzBargain member who reached out to us to see if we could set something exclusive up for the OzBargain community.

  • +16

    Where is your associated tag?

  • +7

    Hey EC,
Some considerable effort and negotiations must have happened behind the scenes here.
What is your motivation for setting this up?

    • -5

To do something unique I.e. Personalized deal web page.

      • "To do something unique"
Well if that's all, wouldn't have just been easier to make your mum a card for tomorrow? ;)

  • +1

Quest bars or beta-cret are probably nearly out of date!! Haha
I would double check how long till best before date as these guys are known for sending out old stock!!
I havent shopped with them since i was burned.

I do appreciate the effort you put in EC.
Any xylitol bargains you are thinking of doing?! :P
Mine are nearly gone from that deal from iherb

    • Hi Hirolol. FYI no they aren't nearly out of date. Beta Cret is September expiry. Quest bars are the latest stock in AU (ours are best before November mainly, although choc peanut butter is best before August - the supplier still has the older batch available).

If you're concerned about expiry dates please just leave comments in your order with minimum acceptable.

Also if you're unhappy with a product you purchased in the past, please email our team [email protected] - we'll take care of it for you.

      • I already contacted them once i realized the issue but they couldnt do anything as it was too long after purchase date.
The reason i didnt open it straight away was because i already had some other product that i needed to use.

        • +3

Hi Hirolol - did we advertise the product as shortdated or not? If we didn't advertise it as shortdated then I think we need to fix this up for you because we need to ensure that we're always transparent on this. - Jay

        • +1

@aminozcomau: good guy Jay, what a legend. gon buy some ON serious mass now, keen as beans

      • This*

I always say min 6 months before exp for 4.5kg bags. Never had any issues since.

  • Ebay had emailed out a personalised 10% off voucher to me yesterday. I needed a resupply of On Protein. With the AminoZ $5.00 cashback option (choose one out of other useless stuff) on Ebay it means the total was about $130.00 for the 4.5KG bag with free postage. Done Deal!

  • +5

Well although this deal was available to me a few days ago, my coupon had expired and now it's not available other than through this link. So, thanks for the deal EC. EC's been around here for ages and I appreciate the time he's put in. If he's getting something out of this then good for him, if he says he is not then I believe it. Thanks for contributing!

  • Been using this protein for awhile, although I enjoy it in terms of flavour compared to other protein powders honestly it's not that great for me. Personally more used to bland basics such as Genetix Protein which is even "cleaner" than this one nutrition wise from what I can work out. Super good deal for it WITH the quest bars though! Those are definitely my favourite types of bars, but realised I gotta cut back on eating those. Sometimes I just eat them cause they're nice tasting then realise they're like $4 each time I eat one…

What gym do you train at anyways @easternculture ?

  • +7

Good price for fart powder, I guess.

  • +1

Costco has ON 2.23kg for $79, just in case if anyone (including me) concerns about buying online

    • would you know if they have the mint choc flavour?

      • Chocolate only

  • Hey EC, which of the chocolate flavours is the nicest?

    • Extreme choc. But aminoz is probably Out of stock due to it's popularity

      • When you say Extreme Choc, are you talking about the Extreme Milk Chocolate or is there a different flavour I'm not seeing?

        • That's it. Extreme milk choc … Soooo good

    • Avoid the strawberry at all costs

    • +1

I didn't like the double choc, tasted too artificial and not like chocolate or cocoa IMO.

      Haven't tried the triple yet.

      Choc peanut butter is nice.

  • Been using ON protein for a few months and have had the cookies and cream and double chocolate. Both taste great. All purchased through aminoz and have had no issues with Comms or delivery.

  • +7

I find these conspiracy theories and comments more of an exciting deal that the actual products at time. Best of all, they are free!

  • +1

    Hi EC,

Can you please declare your FULL interests in this deal so it is transparent (eg what percentage you make off all purchases etc)

This will help in all ozbargainers making an informed decision in whether they should take advantage of this deal

    • +8

I'm not gaining any financial benefit. I asked the reps last year for a deal and this has been coming for a while . I even mentioned it in a iherb deal posted by a member

I don't even think they would be able to offer me a financial benefit even if I asked at such low margin profits . I'm sure they are only making a few dollars profit on the ON protein @ $128 delivered plus they are not charging you for delivery. other places are selling it for >$150 and charge shipping

      • -7

One could never verify if this is the truth.

The way you have structured the deal allows the store to directly know how many people signed up and so can easily reward you. The moderators have allowed this deal to remain active and in doing so have left the door open for users to gain something.

        • +5

I discussed this with Jay. The use of a unique promo code is to prevent the promotion from going viral as profit margins are low

        • -1

          @easternculture: I don't understand what you mean?

From what I see the deal is open to the general public who see this deal on front page and so they can benefit as well. Wouldn't a unique code make even more easier to identify where the traffic came from?

        • +13

          @GameChanger:

It's very much clear what I said. It's up to you what you want to believe

Some of us actually put in an effort to negotiate deals for the ozbargain community . All your good at is criticizing everyone who posts a worthy deal

        • +1

@easternculture: The majority of your deals are referrals, and by the number of up votes it's evident people are skeptical that no behind the scenes deal was done.

As to this deal being good, that is very debatable and your past Aminoz ones have being better. 20% off for only new customers, isn't much of a deal when their site had 20% off pop up for years.

        • +1

          @GameChanger:

The majority of your deals are referrals, and by the number of up votes it's evident people are skeptical that no behind the scenes deal was done.

And yet you And your friends have accused TA of the very same thing

You have also been warned by the mods for your referral accusations and to discuss them in TWAM if you have any issues

        • -4

@easternculture: I'm not accusing you of anything, I just don't like how this deal was conducted. Also you might want to remove other peoples name into this discussion and wrongly accuse me.

17+ people have agreed that the structure of this deal is not good at all.

        • +5

          @GameChanger:

I suggest you back off, not to say there is a hierarchy based on time period of seniority or anything but EasternCulture has been around for quite some time. And to address your concern of a behind closed doors concept, it has been shown that other OzBargain members have spoken to representatives of companies to bring OzBargain specific deals, and I believe in my own personal opinion that they haven't done any "behind the scenes" stuff. If you have issues of this specific deal, i'd highly suggest you voice your concerns through a report (if you can find reason to it), as well as suggested above a Talk with a moderator.

        • -4

@DAOtmc: You believe, but don't have a shred evidence of proof. I suggest you look closely how this deal is structured and why so many Ozbargainers don't like this method at all. There is a referral system on here and if every Ozbargainer made deals like this it would be impossible to monitor.

I suggest you read Ozbargain rules where associations must be disclosed and silent repping isn't allowed.

As to voicing my concerns I want it done in the public for transparency reasons. Whether you like it or not 20+ people have agreed with me.

        • +5

          @GameChanger:

You believe, but don't have a shred evidence of proof

Likewise to you. All you are doing is throwing accusations with a "guilty until proven innocent" mentality.

Not sure what the problem with bringing a viable deal benefiting the members of Ozbargain is, even if deal posters are able to gain some benefit im not sure how this is detrimental to you or other ozb members.

If you have bought protein, you'll know this deal is almost like buying at-local prices (US price, since Optimum nutrition is an American product), but in Australia.

Check vitacost or iherb prices (ex postage) for benchmarks.

Do you just have a pot of poo you like to stir? What's your proposed alternative to this deal then? Rather than accuse, can you contribute?

There is a referral system on here and if every Ozbargainer made deals like this it would be impossible to monitor.

Try make one then, see how hard it is to even negotiate as a random stranger to a company. Also most random referral systems on Ozbargain are only possible if the company itself offers some sort of referral reward (refer a friend for example)
Be thankful there are even deals being negotiated for Ozbargain members.

        • +6

          @GameChanger:

Can you please present your proof that he is associated with AminoZ? And although it may no state i'm stupid in your comment it seems you want to imply that I have no knowledge of OzBargain rules. Again if there is a problem with this, you should start a Talk with a Moderator rather than try and pick fights online. Feel free to voice your concerns in appropriate manner, but not straight after he has claimed and sticks by the concept that he is not associated. There is an affiliate link at the bottom of the deal, but does not show to be connected to this URL, and as such you have no right to refute his claim. Until you can provide "evidence" as you have said, there is no reason to believe you either. You say 20+ people, and it has absolutely ZERO relevancy to PROOF or EVIDENCE as you so wish and desire to present.

But hey, it's just my PERSONAL OPINION. Feel free to keep bashing on a guy that does a public service, and watch him leave just like @theearth did.

        • @GameChanger:

I would also like to present my evidence to the court ahem, please see exhibit A, and B:

          EXHIBIT A:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/177177

          EXHIBIT B:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/232099

As you can see, in past experiences unaffiliated individuals that have devoted time into negotiating deals with representatives from other companies for better deals exclusive to OzBargain using an EXCLUSIVE link through and/or landing page. This further concludes that the plaintiff seemingly has not presented evidence, and although this is circumstantial evidence it is far better than none whatsoever, other than pure speculation which as we all know is inadmissible.

          The defence rests your honour.

        • -3

@cwongtech: I ask you if this was a rep would you be providing the benefit of the doubt?

Unless you work in the industry you don't know anything about Aminoz buying power or margins involved in this deal.

I haven't accused EC, if you bothered to read. I don't like your inflammatory post at all and accusations at me.

If you ever worked on a Merger or Acquisition you would know what a real negotiation is. Stores are dying for known users like EC to come and work out a deal with them.

This is about integrity you just can't see the bigger picture.

        • @DAOtmc: Where have I said that EC is associated with Aminoz?

20+ people don't like this method because it's NOT transparent and can potentially bypass the referral system.

Where have I bashed EC? Please stop making up lies. Have you seen the amount one can make from referrals?

        • +4

          @GameChanger:

You win. My excuse is non-existent. I bow to you my lord.

I don't have time for an online fight about whether someone is a goddamn rep when all they've done is been helpful towards a community. This is why theearth left, and I can 100% see why.

        • @DAOtmc: Lets be clear this isn't a fight rather a discussion for integrity reasons.

Ozbargainers want the best deals and if there is a deal behind the scenes what incentive does a poster have to provide the best deal. Known users can use their goodwill to get an average deal to the front page and once this happen this is deceptive to the community and the general public.

        • +2

@GameChanger: Mate you remind me of this guy https://memegenerator.net/instance/53996422 …off the high horse buddy. ha!

        • @perthite:well the awkward moment when that picture is me!

        • +3

          @GameChanger:

Where have I said that EC is associated with Aminoz?

You are accusing him of getting some sort of undisclosed benefit.

I ask you if this was a rep would you be providing the benefit of the doubt?

There is a declared rep already, Jay from Aminozcomau. If EC was affiliated, it would be in their interests to disclose. Why would you have a real rep and an "undeclared" rep? Sockpuppet?
Have a look at EC's posts please, I don't think someone working for Aminoz would be in their right mind to post 228 deals for Amazon, or 69 from iHerb (Aminoz's competitor).

Unless you work in the industry you don't know anything about Aminoz buying power or margins involved in this deal.

No, but when the Australian Market price goes down to the American Market price (where the product comes from), it's a pretty good deal.

If you ever worked on a Merger or Acquisition you would know what a real negotiation is. Stores are dying for known users like EC to come and work out a deal with them.

Yes, because bargain negotiations are EXACTLY like M&As.

This is about integrity you just can't see the bigger picture.

Alright. When a Company Rep (Aminozcomau/ Jay) declares themselves a rep (and most likely verified by the mods by an email sent from the company domain), it would be in their best interests to disclose any affiliation with an OzBargain member having any sort of rewards of some sort, whether it be store credit or commission of some sort.

Can you please declare your FULL interests in this deal so it is transparent (eg what percentage you make off all purchases etc) - GameChanger

          THAT is commission
By not disclosing anything to the mods, the Aminoz rep would be risking their future potential use of this site as an advertising channel through posting of deals. If found, this would have repercussions on Aminoz and EC.
I'm not sure what sort of proof you would like from EC or any Deal posters, Balance Sheet? P&L Statement? A signed affidavit signed by a JP uploaded onto every single post? An annual financial report of every individual deal poster on OzBargain? If you want a declaration, here it is.

I'm not gaining any financial benefit. - EasternCulture

How much more proof do you want?

Do you realize by doing what you're doing, you're discouraging negotiated bargains between normal users like yourself from posting deals for others to take advantage of?

Ozbargainers want the best deals and if there is a deal behind the scenes what incentive does a poster have to provide the best deal. Known users can use their goodwill to get an average deal to the front page and once this happen this is deceptive to the community and the general public.

And this is a great deal. From the example provided by EC, in the case of Optimum Nutrition, it's like buying protein from America, without waiting for international delivery (not that it's not fast!), but from a local retailer.

  • What is the expiry date on the Gold Whey 4.5kg?

    • +1

      From my discussion with jay

Expiry dates for ON whey bags are mid to late 2017

      • Have you tried the vanilla flavour before? I'll be adding this whey powder into my frozen mango and banana smoothies. I just hope this whey powder won't overpower it.

        • +1

I've only tried the choc. It's delicious

        • +1

I use the ON French Vanilla Creme in my smoothies and breakfast all the time, it's not overpowering at all.

I don't recall actually having it on its own..

Choc peanut butter is a nice flavour too, though I don't use that in smoothies.

  • Hi EC,

What is the expiry date of Cellucor C4 Gen4 - 60 serves ? Also, does the code works with aminoz EBAY? Apparently, the C4 listed on Ebay has free shipping and comes with extra gift.

    • The C4 Gen 4 expiry is generally a couple of years. It's all fresh stock (having just been released) and upon manufacture they allow 3 years until expiry. If you're looking for a specific flavour expiry though, just drop us an email at [email protected] or use the chat on the website. But there is PLENTY of time for the C4's until expiry.

  • +6

Why is everyone questioning EC ???

But no one questions TA with all of his/her deals and special negotiations he seems to have all the time. With no material benefit!!!!

    • +6

Actually we all questioned them both. But I guess TA kinda showed what exactly he/she get. Now working for cashrewards. Before that she/he also build reputation by posting free books from Amazon. Whereas EC, always only post referrals, not to mention those non existing bargains from iherbs.

I also just asked a friend to match this deal. Not close. He said in order for him to get $120 cost price for ON 4.5kg bags, he needs to do order of 100 units. Lets say AminoZ did this, cost price is $120+ Gst(12)= $132. So AminoZ sells this at $128 delivered. Lets say delivery is actually free, that means AminoZ gets $116 and owe ATO $11.63 GTS. That means for every bag AminoZ sells they lose $16 without factor in delivery.

So if EC is not getting anything, I dont know why AminoZ will do loss on their business. Maybe sell our details to someone else?:P YES LAST PART IS A JOKE

  • +3

Hey EC hope you don't get put off supporting this forum, in general I (we) benefit from your efforts with very little on my part. Providing what is posted is legitimately lower cost than I could have got without major research, I'm happy if you get a benefit. Not saying you do in this case either. Please keep posting!

Also enjoy the healthy debates and mini reviews that flow on…

  • nice, was thinking I need some protein bars and protein to leave at work

    this works out well

    • dammit forgot cashback…. =[

  • +1

Backordered 4.5kg xtreme choc, thanks EC :)

  • +7

Here, have an upvote, just coz I don't agree with the negative crap plaguing this comments section.

    • +1

Same here but also cos from what jasecs indicated, this is apparently a good deal.
Btw, i declare that i have no association with EC or AminoZ… or such protein supplement if it is a concern.

On hindsight, perhaps EC's intro of this deal is attracting the wrong attention from OzBargain vigilante police. makes me wonder what's the incentives for such keyboard warriors with such voluntary policing. Scotty must be pretty happy to have them but not on payroll.

In addition, as DAOtmc mentioned, any such concern should be raised as report and let the administrator / moderators follow up.
Preferably keep the comments regarding the deal and not on the OP / poster.

    • +3

I've had it with the negative crap on this site!

If you have an issue with a deal/member/company/anything, say it once and move on! We share deals ffs, that's all! If you don't think it's a deal, move on. If you have an issue, use the bloody report button! It's not hard!

We're all adults here aren't we?!

      act like it!

      • Being adults mean having intelligible discussions. Is it wrong for some of the minority to ask how a deal which have markers of a referral system came about? No.
But yes i agree after the initial question has been answered commentators still seem so hell bent to question EC, it comes off as jealously.

        • +2

This isn't an isolated incident, it's months of negativity towards members and the running of this site and it's getting irritating.

        • @Spackbace:

I agree it's a shame really. The rudeness of some users as well ticks me off.

      • I thought I was reading a review on product review.

  • +5

A deal is objectively a good deal if it's the best price you can get for the product… who cares if the chance exists that the poster may be getting kickbacks?

If you want a piece of the pie, you try negotiating some good deals for ozbargainers. If you can find me things that I need to buy, at a price that's better than what I'm currently paying, then you can have my upvote too.

  • +4

EC negotiated deal n if everyone is benefiting from it. Also ec, cleared that he is not getting any personal benefit then we all have to accept it n appreciate his efforts…

    • How is everyone benefiting from this deal? Its only for new customers and is NOT a bargain.

This discount has being available for years for new customers.

But let's not let facts get in the way and let any deal know users post reach front page.

      • How is everyone benefiting from this deal?

Users of Optimum Nutrition protein are benefiting from this deal.

Its only for new customers and is NOT a bargain.

That doesn't stop anyone from being "me", "myself", and "I".. for those who can't read between the lines - create more accounts.

But let's not let facts get in the way and let any deal know users post reach front page.

        This doesn't make sense.

      • +3

Lets clear this, it was my mistake to say Everyone. But being a community website, even if few people are benefiting from deal, we should appreciate posters efforts rather than questioning his/her morale/ethics/hidden agenda..and if you really have question on deal or problem with deal, please do TWAM rather than bashing it in public…

        • You obviously don't understand why this deal is controversial. This isn't a TWAM issue and should be public for community input.

The fact you think this is a attack on EC shows how misguided you are.

@GameChanger: I think you should stop this. I m not a fan/hater of EC. And You do not know i m misguided or not so you should better not comment on it. Community has reacted in this post and gave their opinion, so stay in peace. Or better create new topic, if you really feel that this needs to be discussed in more details.
