    Work out significantly cheaper to just import it.. Price (with very little searching) is about 700USD (~750AUD) so you won't be paying duties or GST on it.

    The $ you'd save could cover local repair costs (or shipping costs for US-based repair) in the very unlikely event that it's required. Can find the replacement lamp for this unit @ 300 (http://www.hot.com.au/product/optoma-hd66-projector-lamp) so you're still in front about 300$ after shipping… and that's if you don't shop around at all overseas.
