AGL Online Offer for NSW – Get up to $150 Credit,10,000 Flybuy points Plus 20% off Electricity Bill and 14% off Gas Bill

100

I am currently with AGL so I was looking if they are offering any better plan so saw this offer. I have compared it with Origin and Energy Australia and found this deal better in terms of discount and one off credit.

Here is how it appears on Google

  • I can only see $100 off?

  • Thanks OP. Been meaning to switch

  • Only 10% off and $25 credit in QLD - seems targeted

  • When I google this offer, I was not even signed into my account. It just came up as Google Adword promotion so not sure if it's targeted.

    BTW I am in NSW.

  • "This page is not relevant to your Australian state."

    ACT

    • +3

You don't even live in a State!

      • ACT is not part of NSW? :p

  • It appears that only applicable to NSW. I have updated the title and include some screenshots of deal.

  • Note the discount is off usage charges, service charges are billed at regular prices.

    • That is true for all providers, isn't it?

        • The current offer for that one is $100 rebate and 22% off usage and supply charges.

        • Wow. Looks like I missed that one. Were their prices better compared to AGL? I am already with them and not sure if I can avail this one, but want to change them as I had some issues with their support team.

Edit: That is quite an old deal. Is it valid in 2016? Any other providers?

        • @Gaggy: Why don't you give them a call and see what happens? Rates, discount, and contact info here: https://www.clickenergy.com.au/energy-price-fact-sheets/citi…

        • @stuntman: Yes, thats what I am going to do. For now, I will be matching their rates with my existing bill to see if their rates are similar. I think in NSW, rates are regulated, but cannot confirm it now without having a look myself.

          @Gaggy:

I compared the rates and there elec/gas rates are probably 3% more but supply charge is ~5% less.

with the 20% / 14% off , its worth it. Also $150 credit

          im switching today

        • @easternculture: Thanks for sharing EC. Getting discount with supply charge also is a big plus. Let me know how do you go. Is there any other catch of high fee they have?
Disconnection fee of $180 seems pretty high. I dont remember paying such high fee with any retailer.

        • @easternculture: Hey EC, how did you go with the switch? Are there any other hidden charges? I could not see any of them other than the disconnection charge which are on higher side.

  • you would be better off if compare first and find out who is the main distributor/supplier of the grid at where you live as prices are varied, as I am now with Origin for 22ish cent per Kwh, it would be 26ish with AGL, so, it is almost 18% difference means the bargain for me is just the switch over credit which is a once off thing, still good but not good enough to switch just yet

  • It's a good time of year to be shopping for elec/gas deals with retailers doing whatever they can to increase their customer numbers before EOFY.
Watch each retailer trying to out do each other over the next five weeks.

The deals will be targeted and vary State by State due to a number of factors, so take all factors into consideration not just the % discount.
Most have now dropped termination fees, so sign up for 12mths and go back to the market again this time next year.

Like insurance, they do rely on the fact that unlike OzBargainers, most people wont bother to go back to the market.

  • Plus switch online to collect 10,000 flybuys BONUS POINTS#.

    Worth $50

I'm in NSW, shows as only $75 for me (and the 20% is only if you have both electricity and gas, 18% otherwise)

    • +1

If you are in NSW, I guess you could use screenshots I included in my post as a negotiation chip.

It says up to $150 which is $75 for electricity and $75 for gas

just a word of warning for you guys
always get the RATEs they charge, do not look at the discount.
compare the rates first without the discount, apply the discounts, then see which is better.
ages ago i was once offered 16% discount on $0.26 rate but with someone else 10% on $0.23 rate

I rang up AGL about a month ago when I got this targeted email offer, and after 5/6 phone calls, they sent me their rates. Initially they just said "bring a copy of your last bill and we will compare". To which I said, these rates are too complicated to discuss over the phone, please send me your rates via email so I can do a like to like comparison.

In the end, it turned out, I was better off with my current plans even after the discount from AGL so didn't bother changing.

      • No contract or termination fees, so you can get the $250 and bail out after 1-2 Billing Cycles. Rinse and Repeat 2 times of year !

        • That's cool, do you get the credit on the first bill?
Was going to suggest Powershop for $75 credit and switch to this lot for more credit.

        • @huntress_love: As per the offer T&C Yes
*To start you off, when you sign up online we'll give you a once-off credit on your first AGL bill issued under this plan. The once-off credit applies only in conjunction with this AGL Energy Plan and is not transferrable. The once-off credit is available once per fuel per household and eligibility criteria apply.

+10000 FlyBuys Points worth $50 or more depending upon how you redeem + AGL Rewards to get Myer Cards at 10% off during special offer.
AGL Rewards is same as Ambassador Rewards Programs with good benefits

  • Origin all the way!

    I own their shares!

Hold on I own AGL shares too!

Still think Origins capped plan is better

  • AGL, any feedback

  • I'm on AGL set and forget, 12 month plan but you can terminate any time. However I only got $25 credit. Wonder if I can sign up to this to get more credit or because I'm already a customer, its a no go?

Pretty happy with AGL to be honest. I did a massive compare of all rates to work out this was the cheapest, back in Dec last year.
