Lagavulin 16 Year Old Scotch Whisky 700mL $87.95 @ Dan Murphy's

190

Hi there!

Lagavulin for $87.95.
Now, it's not the best price ever, but it's pretty good (considering I saw it $100+ last week (yikes)).

A great Islay dram.
Product notes:
- Strong peat, smoke and seaweed nose that is followed by a nutty complexity and light fruitiness.
- In the mouth characters of Charcoal, dry woodiness and iodine followed by chilli chocolate and a hint of toffee.

First choice announced a whisky sale. Danmurphy beat their price by 5cents.

    • I'd just go to First Choice and tell them rather than Dan Stealing their Business, can they beat/match the price.

      • I guess it's handy for those who have a Dan's closer to them.

        • yeah im not suggesting this is a bad deal, but just if possible you'd want to give the original stores a chance rather than have them price matched out til they close down.

lol A business trying to be kind to another business they get no financial benefit from? cmon now, this is business.

So many people price match at officeworks, TGG etc. But its always bad when Dan does it. Its like its a good thing for an ozbarganer to go in and ask to price match but when it has already been done for them then its bad…

Location is a big plus for price matching as it means more of us have access to a lower price (regardless of who owns it).

Where do I suggest anything regarding Business trying to be kind to another business?

I am not suggesting it is a bad business model nor saying people shouldn't take advantage of saving money. Merely that if possible to give the original business a chance to match it themselves.

The reason is if business A who constantly lowers their profit to get business isn't getting business because everyone goes to Company B to price match. Company A eventually Shuts, and then there is a monopoly, and no longer a company where company B needs to price match. If you want competitive pricing, you need to keep competitors alive.

        • @Chivalry:
Apologies, assumed because your response was to someone 'associated' that you were telling them (a business) to give the other stores a chance.

Get what you are saying but at the same time if people just go to Company A to give it a chance then Company B wouldnt bother price matching anymore. If company A is constantly having to lower their prices to get business then id say there is a prob way before they decide to run a sale. They shoulld have their everyday prices the same to begin with. People go where the lowest price is so you would say that is why they arent getting the business they need. they definitely are still making the money having the prices the same as Dan (or anywhere else). Your not really competition if your everyday prices are far from the competition and you rely on sales.
