Wow. S4.. phone from 3 years ago at least.

    • +6

And mine is still going strong. Well… barely… 16GB just isn't really enough as a core for Lollipop and my apps. :)

But so love the removable covers and battery.

      • Completely agree with this statement. 16GB just doesn't seem to be enough on this phone

      • +2

Try putting a custom rom on it if you haven't already. My S4 is running great with CM13 (Android 6.0.1), and even with a bunch of apps installed I'm only using 4.4gb of the internal memory

        • +1

Be aware rooting will move the Knox counter to '1' and is not reversible after re-flashing a stock rom.
If the knox counter is 1 or above, your warranty is void.
I used to have an S4… tried everything to move the counter to 0, but couldn't.
          Do your research.

@imnotarobot: yeh, be aware of voiding the warranty on your 3 year old phone guys.

        • @Jarr0d: You know what I mean.

        • @Jarr0d: isn't it selling new.

        • Hmmm leave it stock and wait for Samsung to bring out android 6 or void warranty and move to Android 6 ????

I don't think the price is as ridiculous as it seems given how s4 i9506 is better than normal s4. Snapdragon 800 vs Snapdragon 600.

That said still fairly pricey for a phone from Q3 2013.

  • +8

Bit pricey for such a old phone. Would not advice anyone to buy this phone at this price point

  • +7

This should have been S5 price by now

    • +3

This should have been S5 price by now

Some may buy it if it is S5 at that price.

    • strangely enough S5 seems to have held its price better then even Iphone 5S. Correct me i am wrong but I think both were released in same year

      • +2

yeah I bought S5 for $322 through this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227257
However S5's price kept going up since that deal. some store are still selling for $600+ today. not sure why.

It is a very good phone, I bought grey stock for around $490 in Aug 2014 and till now it's going strong with no issue. I have just this week upgraded to S7 edge and gave the S5 to my mum who is very happy with the phone.

        • +3

@lokesh7: shouldn't you give the S7 to your mum instead?

        • +3

          @wtfnodeal: I will eventually

  • Its amazing.

Galaxy s4, s5, s6, s7 are still being sold brand new

up until recently i was still using s3 and its still runs sweet.

    March 2013 release date.
This is old technology and imo too expensive by at lease $150!

    • Yeah. Just another overpriced iPhone without the fruit logo IMO.

    • +1

You are comparing grey import to local stock. I'm happy to pay slightly more for local stock, and to claim back gst.

      • +1

The Oppo R7's were going for $299 in December, Australian stock. This is way over-priced for a 4 year old model.

  • rather get a xiaomi note 3 at this price..

  • +3

rather I get Dyson V6…*ebay 20% off sale.

    • +3

      Yeah clean up the competition

  • HTC 10 please

  • Sony Z5 Compact please - white or black (with GST receipt for TRS)

  • +1

Seems a bit pricey, especially compared to this old deal : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237692

  • Good price if you don't have a Samsung phone.

  • +1

    I'll buy this at 200

S4 i9505 (slightly inferior) bought at Dick smith for $129 in December 2015 (and TRS eligible, haha). My views reflected by comments above.

    • I wouldn't say slightly, SoC difference is equivalent of Note 2 (Snapdragon 600) and Note 3 (Snapdragon 800), similar to S5 (Snapdragon 801).

I do agree it's pricey, especially since Snapdragon 650 and 652, which is kind of like midrange to high end SoC of 2016, I believe are better than Snapdragon 800. That said comparing it to the normal s4 is kinda unfair in my opinion.

      • Fair enough, my i9505 is garbage that appears to work and perform adequately. I'm not really familiar with SOC performance. It seems that almost every other spec except SOC/GPU is the same though (screen/materials). Thanks for explaining the difference.

  • +1

    I'll buy this too if it's $200

  • +1

    I'm in at $200 too

  • Samsung Note 5 pls

  • +4

No one mentions the lack of band 28? If this was a $100 china droid it would be one of the first comments by people stating as a reason not to buy.

Seems expensive for 2013 model phone and there's a lot more to phones than just the type of soc they use. Cameras on smartphones have significantly improved for one. It wouldn't surprise me if even the cheap lumia 640 camera is as good as the s4 for instance.

  • OnePlusX kills this, and cheaper too.

    • One Plus X isn't much better than Galaxy S4 and actually One Plus X is about $50~100 more expensive at this price, which makes me wonder is One Plus X worth for considering? I know some people hook up with Chinese phones such as Xiaomi, but I never understand all the hype on One Plus series.

      • S4? nice try.

S5/iPhone 5(s?) equivalent… Dual sim, microsd, kills them on price.

Not sure where you're getting you OPX pricing, as it's equally out of touch.
