I have this, it's not worth anything, it's slow on latest iOS

    • In terms of worth, Others may beg to differ

But I can't comment on the latest iOS being slow on this as I haven't used it. If anything, if you were going to purchase the Wifi only model, you may as well buy the Cellular at the same price if only for connivence and better resale value.

      Each to their own though.

      • +2

But + cellular is 10g heavier than wifi only.

    • +2

As it's not worth anything, I will take it off your hand for $50.

It might be a bit heavier than 10g once you put a sim card in.

      • +3

I'll outbid you and raise you $50 and an eneloop and a pending Taiwan ticket from perth

    • I have the mini 2 32gb wifi + cellular - it is not slow on latest iOS compared to an iPad 3 (has ram memory issues), iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s plus.

    • I agree. Just typing is a pain in the behind. Not silky smooth like it should be.

  • +6

16Gb is an instant pass/fail. Less greed, more NAND, Apple.

  • Is this a price error as the 16GB Wi-Fi only model is $368 online

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/ipad-mini-retina-wi-fi-16gb/…

    • When adding to cart it reverts to ipad mini 2 wifi only ?

  • +1

This is handy if you are going to use it on a DJI Phantom remote.
I would have gone for this if the deal was out a month ago.

    • -1

My thoughts exactly!…I must resist but cause I would love an Ipad mini 4 for traveling/holidays as well as using it for the phantom

    • Just as well I already have Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" for my P3A, faster and bigger screen. An iOS equivalent would be iPad Air 2.
However having said that, an 8" tablet is better in terms of weight balance on the remote control than those heavier 9.7" tablets, but I would definitely choose an iPad Mini 4 cellular (preferably with 64GB) model.

well i'm pretty happy i got the ipad mini 3 cellular for a little less than this price .. good old dick smith (before they even went into receivership …lol) just not the same anymore without DSE to slag off about… :(

  • I cant understand the point to get a 16gb? Isnt the usable space around the 11-12gb mark after all the bloatware and constant os updates?

1 bluray rip of decent quality is all it takes to slow that ipad to a halt. why spend the money getting the 16gb? isnt it better to get those samsung ones instead where memory can be expanded?

    • +2

i'm an android user and in terms of tablets the android environment isnt great, not to say the ipad mini i got is that much better but the android tablets ive got are def not as good .. i'm doing ok with the ipad mini 16gig ive filled it with some shows and movies for the trip i just took to perth .. i agree with the price vs memory though its pretty piss poor… however i couldnt justify paying anymore than the $340 i paid for my mini 3 … which is why you get stuck with the 16 gig ones :)

im sure android tabs have improved but i cant say if its significant improvement or not ..hehe

    ipad mini 2, 32g wifi, $368
bought it a year ago, apple store.

  • got this (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/193711) with cellular for myself one year ago. a bit more expensive, but it is 32gb. never insert a sim though. very happy about the purchase. it is NOT slow on latest osx. it totally suffices for my daily use.

  • Bought one now not sure if i should return it. Thought about replacing my old ipad 1 64gb wifi which rarely gets used (only when travelling).

Do you guys think i should keep it? Not sure about it even though it was cheap (will hardly use cellular too).

  • Anyone actually pick up theirs yet?

    back on!

    thanks to vbansal

    • Thanks guys, unexpired the deal and updated link.

      • How long did that last?

  • Well great …. just had the order cancelled!.

Timeline :- 19/5 Order placed. 21/5 Order Confirmation. 23/5 Order Cancelled…"Item no longer available" 23/5 Credit will be made in 3-5 working day's.

This all sounds like a stuff up and a way to have a short term loan from me, might be they are trying to boost their cash on hand LOL!.

So I now have a case on order from AliExpress, and nothing to put in it … Great customer service from Big W.

Most large operators will honor orders in these circumstances, but not Big W!.

You would have expected the order would have been cancelled within hours and not day's …. not that I expect this comment will make any difference to how they operate.

    • Same thing happened to me too, with the exact same timeline!!!! Worse bit is I actually called customer service today asking them when the order will arrive, the lady told me the marketplace supplier has 24 hours to locate the stock. 6:59pm I get the cancellation email come through.

  • Did anyone by any chance successfully oder any at that price? I did, only to receive an email today from Big W that the order was cancelled because "it is not available from one of our marketplace sellers". Wonder if it was a pricing error?

  • +1

ih8un ..sorry to hear you had a similar outcome, the thing that annoy's me is that BigW is involved in this situation, as it appears ….. But what is this "marketplace sellers" thing?.

If BigW is doing deals with other retailers under their banner, then perhaps they should be fully responsible the outcome. After all "our money" was taken in their name, and by that suggests that the "contract" is with BigW and not some third party.

BigW needs to be called out on this, as how many other deals are presented with them retaining the money as some sort of short term loan.
Perhaps the OzBargain web team could investigate these practices and make a report to the members, to fully alert them and prevent this sort of thing happening.

    Cheers.

    • Probably playing DSE game, first take orders and your money then go into receivership. Free money from the public.

    • Hey, yeah it's a crappy outcome. Not the way to conduct business at all. I'm still waiting for my debit card refund to go through, so definitely some cash flow positives for Big W in this regards. The market place seller in this instance was Ingram Micro. Funny thing is I browsed their website and they don't even have Apple as one of their vendors, so some funny business going on if you ask me for sure.
