Just saw that the 60kg version for $10 is also on their eBay store.

They aren't really the same thing AT ALL.

    The 150kg is boltless (good)

The 60kg one is one of those horrid things you need to spend hours putting together (and be lacerated in the process).

    • +1

Hours? No. not hours, unless you've never built anything in your life.

      • +6

He was figuratively speaking.. I got it..

      • Yes this one will take 20mins to assemble, the other one wiĺl only take 119mins. I suppose it depends on your charge out rate whether its economical or not.

    • Just like maccano minus the lacerations

  • For 60Kg ones, that's each level's supported weight right?
Also, are those 4 "stem" put one on top over the other one like the 150Kg ones?
I have the 180Kg ones which is sort of one stack over the other or can be built as two 2-level ones.

    • I think it's 60 kg total

      • +3

        It's very easy to read

60kg evenly distributed load capacity per shelf

        • Ideally would never want to put anything over 40kg on these ones…

        • +1

          @plague69:

Ideally would never want to put anything over 40kg on these ones…

I've bought heaps of those metal ones over the years. The weight limit on the shelves is mainly due to the thin metal shelf bending.

If you accidentally drop (say) a 10kg container of liquid on the shelf, it bens and even if re-straightened it never is able to support anything again.

I've resorted to screwing strips of timber (tomato stakes are good and cheap) under them to make then stronger, but with the cost and labour it's just not worth the effort.

        • @llama: yea same -_- except I just threw it out, didn't fix it like you haha

  • Code is not working

    • Both are working for me. Add to cart > select store > buy it now > enter COLLECT in redemption code field.

      • Just tried, it says, use Paypal payment method and then working for me. Does not work with Creditcard/debit card payment method…

        • Ah yep the eBay promo codes are always PayPal only, you can use your credit card via PayPal though.

        • @hamza23: Done. Bought couple

  • curious how tough are the shelves wanting to make a rabbit home and cutting openings to build ramps..

    • Interesting idea - the shelves are are only 30cm deep, will that be an issue?

  • +3

    Damn $8, wish I needed it… maybe I do need it. #ozBargainedMyself

No, Mr bond, I expect you to BUY!

  • +1

The good thing about this is it supports the Geelong economy by advertising for Geelong hence we pay less tax making this an even better deal

    • +1

Bunnings will sell a Weagles version.

  • Been looking at this since the 20% off started but this post convinced me to get it so im not kicking myself when it gets sold out lol..

  • The boltless ones are quite good but you will find you also need a rubber mallet to bang the sections into place. I'm useless and even I managed to put a couple of these together. I wouldn't bother with that galvanised ones personally, they are cheap for a reason. Lots of work and flimsy in comparison.

    • +9

you will find you also need a rubber mallet to bang the sections into place

A true Ozbargainer uses a rubber thong, duct taped to a lump of wood :-)

      • +2

Duct tape too expensive, use a piece of string instead ;)

        • +1

Old thong from the beach. Piece of wood from the park. Elastic bands that came free on your bundle of bills in the post. Voila, a free rubber mallet OzBargain style!

      • +2

I just took it to court & borrow the maj's gavel. Parking fines paid for themselves

  • IO brought the galvanised one before, and don't waste your money on it, not worth it!!

    • +3

      Did you brang it back?

  • With the boltless one, is that still flat packed? What I mean is can i pick it up in a SUV or do i need a van / Ute type vehicle?

    • They come flat packed. As long as you can fit the shelf basically.

    • These are flat packs and was able to fit in a i30 so you'll have no trouble picking up. I've got the both (5 shelf version) of Geelong brand and Bunnings Romak and can honestly say that Romak is more sturdy, better build quality & slightly larger by 10cm width/depth for an extra $6. Looks like Bunnings trying to match Masters prices.

      http://www.bunnings.com.au/romak-1500-x-810-x-310mm-4-shelf-…

      • 10cm extra width/ depth?
Isnt 810mm = 81cm? so bigger by an extra 1cm both ways not 10cm?

        • Correct. My bad

    • The box is about 90cm long, will fit in a mini.

Only a problem If you get the bigger ones and have a standard sedan ve/vf commodore it won't fit through the little escape hatch.

      • have a standard sedan ve/vf commodore it won't fit through the little escape hatch

Hardly a significant enough problem to even comment on. You can easily fit it through the LARGE escape hatch, which in Australia we call the "boot lid".

        • What are you on about?

      • +1

I didn't know cars came with escape hatches!

        • Its in the middle of the rear seats on a commodore. Folds forward has a cup tray in it. Maybe its the cargo hatch, or the armrest hatch. Whatever its not the bootlid. The actual whole rear seat doesn't fold forward like other cars.

My staff have hit this snag a few times when loading cargo.

        • @captobvious:

          What are you on about?

Well, I didn't think it was necessary to explain it, however obviously I need to.

The box is about 90cm long

My staff have hit this snag a few times when loading cargo

The object (this shelving system) is 90cm long and the Commodore boot is over 1.2 metres WIDE… so instead of trying to place the shelving system cartons in the boot "front-to-back" (like this)…

          [……|.|……]

Your staff simply need to place the objects into the boot area sideways, like this….

          […=====…]

By learning a new placement technique, they don't need to worry about the "escape hatch"!!

          Innovative, eh?

        • @llama:

Only a problem If you get the bigger ones

          omg you cant read.

          Hardly a significant enough

          You replied to it… Twice

        • @captobvious:

          omg you cant read.

OMG you were complaining about something totally irrelevant to this thread and deal.

        • @llama: thats 3 times.

          Not so insignificant afterall.

OMG you were complaining about something totally irrelevant to this thread and deal.

          Im not the one complaining

  • Looks like its just the same price as when it went on special a couple of weeks ago directly with Masters? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245783.

  • Mines ready for pick up already, probably the fastest c&c I've ever had

    • Yeah crazy nowadays how quickly stock is ready for pick up. I bought something from The Good Guys and they called me 5 minutes after my order went through to say it was ready for pick up! :O

  • Guys don't forget you can pay using Wish Giftcards which you can purchase for 5% off face value from Cashrewards or other places to take another 5% off the price. :)

    • Not from eBay you can't…

      • Indeed that is correct, but the cheaper unit is from Masters site.

        • Yep, but you won't be able to get 20% off the Masters direct price, but you can from the eBay price

        • @Spackbace: Ah gotcha, didn't notice the eBay link for that one.

  • Can vouch for the 60kg one. Feels a bit soft , but works good enough once together solid enough for storing stuff in the laundry . Didn't take that long to put together.

  • +2

Bought 5 through eBay for $40 and picked them up today. Just put one together and it's surprisingly solid considering its weight. Took a bit of time to do but now I've done one the others will be easy.

Tips for people finding theirs flimsy or having trouble:

    • Only put one screw in each of the brackets when you first attach them to the shelves (the holes the fingers point to in the instructions), otherwise prepare for a lot of unscrewing
    • Put the brackets on so that the three raised sections point inwards; you get a snugger fit
    • Put the top and bottom shelves in the frame first and then slip the two middle ones in afterwards; much less messing around
    • Only finger tighten the bolts on the shelves to begin with and then stand the unit upright for the final tighten
    • Use an enclosed 8mm wrench (10-15cm long) and crank the bolts nice and tight while holding the screw with a Phillips head screwdriver or (even better) socket with Phillips head attachment
