  • Why no 4gb version!?

Edit: I have the older version with 2gb and it's great, but I just want to put visual studio on it now, so need the extra ram.

    • the z8300 cant officially take 4gb, yes officially only, DIY works

  • Which one is better?

The hp has a more versatile hinge connection - you can connect the screen facing away from the keyboard so it can close flat with the screen visible… but the extra storage space and better processor is definitely worth it if you don't need the reversible hinge connection.

    • I don't know what the screens or keyboards or battery life is like but to me the 64gb versus the 32gb would be a big tick in favour of the Asus.

oops! incipient beat me to it.

The Asus has a far more powerful CPU. Check the Passmark scores for the Z8300 and 8500. The 8300 is ~1200, while the 8500 is ~1700. Hate using Passmark for comparisons but a good indicator of general performance.

You'll only have about 10GB free if you are lucky on the HP, and about 30GB on the Asus.

Also, multi-tasking is already laggy with the T100HA I have. But I don't know if that's because I changed OS and put Pro on to it, and disabled a bunch of other Microsoft junk that the OS thinks it needs.

So, I would recommend the T100HA.

  • what is the difference with HP 10-n104tu previously on special on goodguys $298?

  • I think the only difference is that it's red, both spec sheets are exactly the same.

The 10-n105tu comes with a 500gb harddrive along with the 32GB eMMC though, makes me wonder if there's space in this thing to put a proper SSD in. That'd make it a really useful device, depending on how that could be managed (but imagine putting a 256GB SSD in a 10" tablet!)

    • cheers. but the asus really got faster CPU, faster than lenovo x200t - SL9400 CPU, that is interesting

  • I've seen some of the chinese manufacturers bringin out Z83/85/8700 2 in 1 units with 4 and even 8GB of RAM.

4GB would be awesome, along with 64GB of storage. $60ish dollars and you can add a 128GB micro SD card and have a reasonably cheap and very portable device.

Would prefer a 12" device thoguh as 10" screen is not the most usable size.

  • I'm so chuffed I managed to haggle a T100HA down to $228 at JB

    Also,

    IMPORTANT

If you do a fresh reintallation of windows 10 on these things, and upgrade the BIOS, make sure you DON'T boot it up for the Windows Installation WITHOUT the docking station attached.
Else Windows 10 goes/could go in to retard mode and constantly attaches and detaches the dock… you'll realise this when you hear the USB port connection sound it makes constantly… and you'll see the "Lock Screen Rotation" and "Tablet Mode" gets greyed out and switches to available repeatedly.
