Um, this has repeatedly been on special : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/microsoft-lumia-532

And some Woolworths that I go to every now and then I still see it for $29

    • Is it only some Woolies that have it for $29?

    • +1

It's usually on sale for $39.50 (if not cheaper), just check the catalouge.

The lowest I've seen is $19 when they were selling them at BigW in lieu of Lumia 530s.

      • Had a look but it seems like they arent on sale at the moment. Thanks anyways

        • Just check the mobile cabinet at Woolies every time you head there, I found even though not in catalogue they are still available at some Woolies periodically. I got mine when it wasnt advertised but was available in store on special.

  • Supposedly Microsoft is going to cease its Windows Mobile efforts.

I think you mean scale back.

      • +4

How could they possibly scale it back any more than where it's at now?

        • Sales and effort are the same thing are they?

        • @sallan75:

          I wasn't talking about sales.

        • Well they were still making handsets, now they won't be. That's scaling back. When they do make another handset it will most likely be a "surface phone", and not multiple low-mid range phones.

    • There are at least 2 major updates for windows 10 mobile. One in june and other in 2017. MS is not going to give up on phones so easily.

However they are trying to reduce lumia lineup to make room for other OEMs.

      • That's good news. I'd switch if the amount of and quality of apps were up there with Android (just a personal view - it might be for others, but not for me).

By that, I'd need Microsoft's services to be on par with Google (search, keep, music, maps, photos).

I agree with you. Windows phone is lagging behind its competition and only hope is project Islandwoods(porting iphone apps). Windows phones are still very good when getting a low end phone but they are bad option for mid range and flagship devices. And only real reason is lack of developers support for this operating system.

  • This phone is locked to Optus network, right? Or is it just Optus branded (with Optus software etc.)?

    • Locked to Optus network I think

    • Try contacting Bagman for unlocking (try checking via PM ) - they even have a dedicated website , but could not remember it

This phone is a bit overpriced when comparing to other regular deals , as noted above u may find it half this price in near future .

      • Or just go on Optus live chat and get an unlock code for free. No need to insert a non-Optus sim to unlock the phone or have a sim inserted, just enter ##7820# on the dialpad and use the unlock code.

        • Oh , don't they charge $80 if the purchase date is less than 6 months

        • I mean for $29, might just get from all 3 providers, no unlock require ~~

        • @kamban:

Correct! but if you go on live chat and tell them you're going overseas and would like to use another sim, they will give you an unlock code after you provide the IMEI number.

I've gotten 2 codes in the past, easy peezy :P

        • @raznator: awesome that's good to know đŸ˜‰ will use it in future

    And yes - not a deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/214544

Previously Telstra locked variant was $29

  • This is Hardly Normal price.. No deal for me.

  • Great portable mp3 player, great way to test windows phone and see if you like it or not. Unfortunately this isn't really a deal, its often sold for much lower price than this. Even the vastly superior 640 has been $69.

  • Good phone… Tough as anything mine gets repeatedly dropped… Screen pretty bad visibility in direct sunlight light and camera pretty poor - only flaws but got for $29 in Woolworths, much better than my galaxy s5 I "downgraded" from. haha :) battery life is amazing, can get 2-3 days with heavy talk time
