  • Did a quote, not a terrible price but still $150 more than my current policy with a higher excess so no deal for me here.

    • Do you mind telling me who yours is through? I wouldn't mind checking it out.

Sure i'm with Bingle, $550 yearly for comprehensive, Auspost quote was $690

        • Thanks, I need to change insurers. Mine works out to be $439 with Auspost, $433 Bingle for $700/$695 excess. Budget Direct and Dodo are a few $s cheaper. It's hard to tell, they all have such bad reviews. If I don't find a reason not to go with them, the $100 gift card probably wins it for Auspost.

Try coles & woolies. we went with Coles, then got woolies to beat them during the warming off period, then Coles to ask why we cancelled and offered to beat the woolies price by 10% (and just to get cheeky, said Woolies was pay by the month, so beat that). Our next renewal went up by 10% but it's still cheaper then anyone else (we pay ~$1/day).

We've previosuly had a claim with Coles & they were quite good (call centre was/is in Sth Africa)

        • Thanks, I'll check them out.

        • $405 from Coles is good, but Woolies was $696. Seems like they need some competition to encourage them to offer a reasonable price.

@Miss B: I just had a squiz at Woolies and looks like they've changed their price beat to be only $1 cheaper, I think it was $50-$100 lower when we did it a few years ago. But I see Coles has a $50 price beat, so in theory you could get Woolies to price beat Coles by $1 ($404), then get Coles to beat Woolies by $50, which would bring it down to $454 if you can pull it off :-) check their cancellation policy. we did it a few weeks before our policy was due, as Woolies allowed us to cancel for free if the policy hadn't started.

          good luck!

        • @supabrudda: I think you have a 404 error in your numbers…Repeat until zero?

        • @tunzafun001: hehehe indeed or if you can warp the space time continuum you'll start to get them to pay you. Hmmm nice idea for a retirement plan

        • Thanks for the tip. I went with Australia Post, monthly payments - $534 but $100 gift card. Called up Coles (who were quoting $499 paid monthly), mostly because they kept sending me emails after I got a quote saying they price beat. I asked them if they would beat $434 (and explained it was $534 + $100 gift card) and they did. So $383 paid monthly.

Woolies say specifically that they beat renewal notices, I guess because they're higher than normal quotes. If I can be bothered in the next 30 days (cooling off period) I might check if they'll beat it/see if Coles will beat them.

        • @Miss B: Coles won't beat my premium minus gift card though. How did you make it happen!

        • @dars:

I thought it was a long shot, I just asked when I called up and they said yes. I guess it depends on who you get.

  • So these guys want people to buy an expensive comprehensive car insurance + they want people to buy a $100 gift card?
Excuse me, where is the deal? Are you selling a car insurance OR a gift card??

    • They're selling the insurance and giving the gift card. I think that and the 25% off are the deal..

      • I missed to read the "&" BUT I still see no deal here, so how much is the insurance?

        • Completely depends on your situation.

  • Just did a quote and it's 25% more than my current policy.

  • Excuse me OP, how do you get the Visa gift card? How many months do you have to keep the insurance before getting the GC? I could not find anything regarding that specific offer in your website.

    Thanks.

Read the full terms and conditions available at auspost.com.au/prepaidcards before purchase and first use.

  • Where is the visa gift card mentioned on the Australia Post website. All I can see is 25% off gold comprehensive car insurance, if bought online. Also, is the code "INSURE14" or just "INSURE" or "INSURE 14"?

    • INSURE14, you use it when you're about to actually buy the insurance not when getting a quote, but the conditions are above in my reply to Nachotroncoso. They come up when you enter the code.

I didn't see it anywhere else on the website though.

  • From the questions and steps to go through, plus the quote summary page and its tiny statement of what not covered, I think they are actually with Budget insurance. Even the price was similar.

    • It seems to be a white label product by Auto & General Insurance Company. They also underwrite Budget Direct.

I asked for a quote online… Had them call me up a day later and ask for my name, birthday and address to discuss the quote. That lost them my business straight away because I wasn't prepared to provide my details to a phone operator who has called me.

  • Hi OP,
Is this code different to the current online code of AUSPOST (for 100 gift card).
It seems, one is automatically given 25% discount, for the online quote.
Please advise, if I am missing something?
    Cheers
