Probably the lowest price around right now, but to raise prices in a ebay subsidised promotion… they're not getting my business.

  • +5

No 4G 700 band on the Nexus 5X ? That is almost a deal breaker for me….

    • I don't think Kogan sell H791, which is the band 28 model.

      • +1

To be fair, band 28 is fairly new, and there are very few devices out there that use it.
HTC M8 or newer flagships have it.

This has compatibility with other 3G/4G bands though. Hmmm, yeah after checking it it seems like this isn't the North American or the International version. This is the Hong Kong version (H790).

As far as I know, both the H790 and H791 are the same device. Physically or hardware point of view. The radio's on the HK model are disabled (software). I know they can be either unlocked in adb, or the radio drivers can be changed. This has happened already to the North American model which got HD Voice and VoLTE (Band 12) unlocked last year. I didn't see anything so far about Band 28, but keep this in mind, just a heads up.

        • I would love to get a link on how this is possible

        • @neelsaraiya:

          Sorry for the late reply.
Here's a link for the Nexus 6P, but the same principles apply for the Nexus 5X or any other phone with disabled radio-bands for that matter.

          http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-external-link/activate-ban…

I was going to grab a factory image (software) for the International Nexus 5X (H791), take out the radio, then flash the radio into the H790. This does/will/should work. The only problem is -possibly- losing the IMEI number. If worst comes to worst, you could flash back to your original backup.

          …BUT !!!!

…I just received the phone 10 minutes ago and mine is the H971 model. It had an EU plug and the manual was in Deutsch. So I actually don't need to do anything. However, I hope my posts has been helpful to anyone around there.

      • +2

I received a 791 model yesterday from KOGAN with 700hz band! What a surprise!

    • Is it the same with the Nexus 6P?

  • +1

I saw you post this up 23 seconds ago. And I bought it when this was still up 58 seconds. I can confirm it is working.

    eBay - Kogan Store
    Nexus 5X Black (32GB)
    $442
    FREE shipping
    20% discount
    $88.40 saved
    Total Price = $353.60

THIS IS THE LOWEST PRICE SINCE LAUNCH!!!!

(Kogan offer's cheaper prices and a 10% discount from their website, but they charge for shipping, which totals to $400.10)

    • +2

It's an awesome price for a great phone but $14 from the cheapest :). It was back then when Kogan had a group buy for $399 then eBay offered 15% off on top.

      • Lucky Duck ; )

    • Good one.
I just bought Xiaomi fromm geekbuying. Damn

  • +1

Is it worth paying an extra $40 for the 64GB? 32GB Black is $577. Link for 32GB Black http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Huawei-Google-Nexus-6P-32GB-Black…

    • +1

I would say so. There's no SD slot, and its better to have that extra space for the future. I keep phones until I run them into the ground, so an extra 32GB will go a long way in me avoiding having to upgrade it for a while. For something you'd probably use on an hourly basis for years to come, $40 isn't too much in the grand scheme of things.

      • Cheers for your input. I decided with the 32GB. I've currently got a Moto X 2014 with 16GB=10GB useable and I'm currently travelling ok with that. The Nexus 6P 32GB comes with 25GB of useable storage, so I should have more than amble under current conditions.

        • +1

Ah awesome, enjoy the phone mate :) I was more excited about using the 6P then I was for anything I've ever owned haha.

        • @Liqqeh:

Okay there are some NICE deals out there from the low to the high-end.

          Low-tier: $225 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 32GB/3GB (Gold)
          Mid-range: $350 - Nexus 5X 32GB (Charcoal)
          High-end: $620 - Nexus 6P 64GB (Aluminium)

The Xiaomi has the best bang for buck. The Nexus 6P is the best Android phone money can buy. The 5X is arguably the less desirable than the other two models, but, its Cost-to-LongTermValue is the best overall.

  • Anyone know what processor is on the S7?

    • I'm pretty sure it's the latest Snapdragon 820.

    • +1

I heard it can be a hit or miss with the grey imports. Some people have posted that they received the exynos octa-core. Bit risky buying an import you want that one though. The snapdragon isn't as good apparently. I bought my s7 thru the last ebay 20% tech sale from the good guys. Just over $900 but it's guaranteed the exynos, 2 years aus samsung warranty and I claimed the free gear VR.

  • Trying to decide between the LG V10 and Nexus 6P… hmmm

    • V10

      • =) Have you got the V10 OzSikhs?

I am leaning towards it due to more rugged build, expandable memory but the bigger battery and pure android experience of the nexus 6p makes it a difficult one.

        • My cousin got one, I own a LG G4 & Note 5

        • On my cousin's V10, battery backup has been improved a lot after Android 6.0 update

        • I like V10 more than Note 5 for exactly the same reason of rugged build

        • I'm not sure if Kogan is selling a dual sim version, but my cousin has bought from another reputed seller on eBay and its a Dual Sim and both sim card slots works on 4G

        • @OzSikhs:

          Thanks for the feedback =)

Kogan appears to be single sim..

        • @OzSikhs:

          Seems QD is cheaper then Kogan for a dual sim in a nicer colour;

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-V10-H962-4GB-64GB-5-7-Inch-Dua…

        • @jbnz: that's the one my cousin bought and same seller

        • +1

          @jbnz: beware this is used

        • @OzSikhs:

          Oops, good spot.

        • +1

          @OzSikhs:

Just as I was about to buy the V10 Kogan removes stock of everything other then the ugly more expensive blue v10.

QD has a "NEW" black model for $616 so may go that route

        • +1

@jbnz: QD is also a reputable seller, even in terms of warranty claims.

My girlfriend has been eyeing off the Galaxy S7 for a while. The tech specs on Kogan suggest there is no 4G 700MHz band however, she is on Optus. To me it sounds as though she will be using her phone on 3G most of the time if she bought it.

  • Having hard time to decide between this 6p and s7. In paper s7 spec looks better. But in regards to the OS, the nexus is cleaner and it will always get the latest from Google. Hmmm..

    • +4

      Go for the 6p

  • Can someone confirm if the Kogan S7 supports band 28(700) ?

  • +2

Thanks OP, after consideration over the LG V10 I ended up with the 64GB Nexus 6P for some reason.. =)

  • +1

My 6P was marked as sent yesterday.

  • -1

Sorry the white is really ugly. For this reason alone I'll avoid

    • +1

Cover it with a dbrand skin or case?

    • Well, there's nothing stopping you from stumping up the extra money for the other colours :P

  • Will the kogan nexus 5X H790 work with Telstra 4G despite missing a band? Anyone tried?

    • My understanding is that it should be fine for Telstra 4G, except 4GX which requires Band 28.

  • Got mine today….dang…white looks damn sexy when compared with my mates aluminium nexus…the phone looks like a strom trooper and the the white-black combo works very well than aluminium. Now the dilemma begins to case it or not to case it. I hate clear cases btw…so not going down that route. Dbrand skins is also a great option….hmmm #firstworldproblems

    • Nice! Just wondering, did you get the H1512 model variant? Also was your box sealed and with an Australian charger? Thanks!

      • +1

Yep, got the H1512 model and setting it up as we speak. I will post my first experiences shortly. Box was sealed and packed in a padded bag. It didn't have any headphones or google play music card that you would get if you bought from say Optus or JB but I don't use OEM headsets anyways. Charger is the HK charger though but they have thrown in a Kogan branded HK to AU Adapter and it seems to be doing the job just fine and doesn't seem to affect the quick charging functionality of the USB type C. The problem is foresee is lugging around the charger + the adapter wherever I go and i feel that it wouldn't hurt to order an AU charger if this becomes a hindrance. Something like this - http://www.mobilezap.com.au/54066-olixar-ultimate-mains-univ…

Also noticed that the charging cable is USB-C to USB-C, so if you have to purchase an OEM Australian pin quick charger like above you will also need to get a USB-A to USB-C cable that is "Benson" approved (BlitzWolf preferrably). Cheers.

Edit: I just noticed that it did come with a 0.5m USB-A to USB-C cable in the box but its so short that it can only be used for charging via Laptop/PC :(

  • Has anyone received the Nexus 6p white 64 GB?

    • Yes and have been using since just before the Queen's bday weekend. I would be very much surprised if you haven't got yours by now. You will have the tracking number from kogan?

  • ohh damn! Nah , I haven't received it yet! Just the order number. I ordered on the 10th Morning.

    • +1

No way….I got my phone within 5 working days, ordered on the 3rd & got it on the 10th shipped from HK warehouse with TOLL tracking. I suggest you get on to Kogan asap about your order. I suspect they're either out of stock and waiting to get more from their supplier before it ships out. Mind you that this sale has been so popular that Kogan sold more than 500 Nexus 6P phones within the sale period afaik.

edit: Their ebay store says that they're out of stock for the Nexus 6P 64GB Frost edition. That explains why you haven't got any updates on your order since you placed it. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161951750913?_mwBanner=1

      • Bugger, it seems I'm in the same boat as brokenarrow so thanks for the info :(

It's poor form from Kogan not to keep buyers in the loop, but their estimated date of delivery is 27-30 June, so I presume that will be the fall back explanation.

I think I'll just ride out this week and see how it goes from there. Hopefully there'll be some traction soon.

        • Yep :( I even called the customer care yesterday and the guy said that he will need to escalate this to his senior! I said I just wanted to know the status of the order.

        • @brokenarrow: I received this email update just now:

          Dear GreenGuava,

Thank you for your recent order.

We regret to inform you that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to ship your Huawei Google Nexus 6P (64GB, White) as quickly as originally expected.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for this delay and for any inconvenience this may cause you. While almost 100% of orders are dispatched on time, in rare circumstances there can be delays outside of our control.

Your item is now expected to be shipped from our warehouse on the 14th July 2016. As soon as your order is shipped, we will send you a notification email to confirm that it's on its way.

I also received Kogan gift card for the delay. While the delay is a little disappointing, I'm not in a great rush to get the phone since I'm still waiting on accessories from AliExpress, as long as there isn't a price drop (and another 20% off sale) between now and then!

        • +1

@GreenGuava: Thats good to know mate. At least they didn't cancel the order and refund your payment that you end up missing out on the sale. Good phone overall for the price and definitely worth the wait. Ensure you enable battery optimizer for all the apps once its all setup and watch in awe when the phone battery drops to 60% at the end of the night after a normal use. Doze is fantastic….lost only 3% of battery overnight. currently at 52% on Day 2 and running nicely. Case it as soon as you get it as it seems that its allergic to water or sweat evidenced from this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253911

Price drop & 20% off before end of this month would be wishful thinking and I don't think Kogan has the capacity or the stock to handle another sale!!

  • I got the same!

  • I emailed them and said this is BS, so they have refunded the $ 50 to my paypal.
