  • Do you have to pay anything extra after purchasing this, like GST or Import Taxes - or would $1400 be the final amount?

    • I just paid for it, $1439.20 was final amount

      • If they ship it from overseas you will be liable for GST

  • +1

Do you reckon they will have a good deal on the 15" again? Hopefully even less than last time ($2170?) considering the immminent release of 2016 versions. Fingers crossed $2000 or there abouts…

    • Considering the GPU market has shifted to a smaller processing node in the last month, there is a very, very likely chance that the MBP refreshes will contain significantly more powerful graphics processing.

Unless you NEED one now, I would hold off as you might be kicking yourself when you see the benchmarks come out for the new machines.

      • With the 2016 MBP, you will also need to consider whether you would rather have better CPU/GPU + 4 USB-C ports, or whether you want the old GPU/CPU with USB-A, HDMI, and other standard ports.

  • If the warehouse is in HongKong, maybe you need pay import tax because it is over $1000.

    • +1

That's what I was asking above. I'd hate to order it and get a bill from customs!

      • My guess is that you will since

        Import
        Value >1000

      • Does it get sent directly to buyer or via Australian warehouse?

        • On the eBay page it says

This Product is a brand new international model imported directly from internationally based distributors.

Their other Macbook Pros that are for sale list the items as being in Australia, not imported from Kogan HK

        • @Kugz: Postage says "Free Postage — Expedited delivery from outside AU"

        • @semiotech:

Ah I see, I didn't click 'Buy now'. Super hesitant to touch this deal now :(

        • @Kugz: Me too… Still cheaper than Apple Refurbished though.

        • +1

          @semiotech:

LiveChat on the Kogan site just confirmed it is shipped from their Australian Warehouse.

        • @Kugz: I am just on there and was about to ask the same question. Thanks!

        • @semiotech:
I can't find "Free Postage — Expedited delivery from outside AU". Do you have a link?

        • @Joe888:
Free postage doesn't mean that duties and taxes aren't applicable.

        • @Joe888: It only shows up when you click buy now.

  • Hopefully they do a deal on the 512GB variant

    36 left

  • Yes Live chat told me the same that it will be coming from Australian Warehouse. Only 36 left

  • I am very very tempted
The new 2016 model will be more expensive I'm guessing. And as much as I would love that model when it comes out I'm not sure I can justify the price.
The specs are the same as on the apple site, so there are no hidden anomalies.

  • As always this " AU/NZ Compliant Generic Adapter" makes me weary of Australian stock compared to imported stock

  • I just pulled the trigger.

I know I wont be able to afford the 2016 model at full price (student budget :( ).

I confirmed with Kogan.com that the exact model on the groupbuy is being shipped from an Australian Warehouse. I emailed the transcript to myself to ensure they cannot pull a fast one on me.

    • -1

if you are student wouldnt you buy with a student discount at Apple (prob not a great discount but still not full price)
or just wait for the common 10% off a JB/Domayne etc.

shipped from Aust warehouse but it has a generic replacment charger - meaning its an O/S model.

      • This price is still much cheaper than the student price. $1859 on the apple store.

Im not fussed about the charger. I travel a fair bit anyway so have plenty of adapters for when at home.

Apple also has international warranty such if anything goes wrong you can take it to any apple store world wide

  • Very good deal compare with RRP, but considering the potential 2016 updates, I would wait. Those old models eventually will be on sale anyway.

  • Its an overseas model, thats clear. But Kogan from my discussion, has imported these and will ship from their Australian warehouse, so no GST liability to the end customer

I bought one last time around, a bit more expensive, was $1491 after cashrewards. It was marked 'For Malaysia' on the product sticker on the box, but shipped from Melbourne. Received it more than a month after ebay purchase, just missed my overseas trip to claim TRS.

Also received tax invoice from Kogan Australia Pty Ltd.

The only different is the 3 prong power plug adapter, which can be easily replaced with $3 adapter from ebay or one lying around the house from other Apple products.

    • A MONTH??? I'm going away in 2 weeks.

  • Lol usually computers get cheaper over time… http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

    • Typical Kogan increasing price for ebay promotions. Although people who bought it since 01/06 would have only paid around $2500 with 20% off but this shows the price without ebay discount

  • Anyone else have theirs marked as Sent?

    • Yes mine

      • Jeez I hope it arrives before the estimated date.

    • How do you know?
I have not received an email since my confirmation of purchase.

      • +1

I got a dispatch email. Wonder if it's because I got in on the group deal early. Think I was 8 or 9.

        • Just checked. I received an email about an hour after my original post.
          Hopefully it arrives next week.

        • @thewalkabouter: Australia post, so it might actually be in Australia?

        • @semiotech: Where did you see Australia post being mentioned?

        • +1

@lokesh7:when I track the package. Seems I should get mine tomorrow.

        • +1

@semiotechCheers mate. I just checked it on aus post website as well and I should get it on Wed. Makes the deal a little bit sweeter to know it's coming from australian warehouse

        • @semiotech:

Mine shows Wednesday. But it passed through Underwood processing in QLD early this morning.
From past experience I should get it tomorrow. It will be tight though.

        • @thewalkabouter: Also in BNE. I got mine today. Awesome!

        • @semiotech: Got mine today as well

        • @semiotech:

Mine arrived today also! Very pleased.
Taking me a while to set it up. First ever Macbook.

        • @thewalkabouter: did you get a Invoice from Kogan?

        • @lokesh7:

Interestingly no. There was a small slip of paper to retain for warranty from Apple.
Is it possible to use the ebay invoice perhaps?

        • @thewalkabouter: I contacted them about it but got no response.

        • @semiotech: Yes I will email Kogan about an invoice today as well. Will definitely need an invoice from them for warranty purposes.

        • @lokesh7:

          Isnt the warranty through Apple?

        • @thewalkabouter: Yes but when i do a serial number check on Apple website they can't find it presumably because the stock is for malaysia. Will need a tax invoice to claim warranty from Apple

        • @lokesh7:

ah gotcha. Ill send them an email. thanks!!

        • +1

          @lokesh7:
          @semiotech:

I just contacted them via live chat https://www.kogan.com/au/contact-us/

They have sent a support ticket to their senior accounts department who will look into it and hopefully email one over.

        • @thewalkabouter: Cheers Mate. Keep us informed, I have sent Kogan an email as well.

        • +1

          @thewalkabouter:
@semiotech: I just got a Tax Invoice from Kogan australia, interesting thing is that invoice shows GST of 10% against the sale price of $1799. Works out great for anyone looking to claim TRS

        • @lokesh7:

          I got one as well!
Yes, I wish I had a trip booked now :(

Fingers crossed we don't need it otherwise.
