  • From the Apple.com.au website:
"The 15-inch MacBook Pro comes with a 1,440-by-900-pixel LED-backlit, glossy display. You can also choose a high-resolution, 1,680-by-1,050 glossy or anti-glare display that gives you 36 per cent more pixels."

So do we have to order from Apple to get the high-res screen?

Also; are any of these Macbook Pros sufficient to play Starcraft II?

    • Yes they should be sufficient however the performance of most games running under OSX/OpenGL is worse than Win7/Directx even on the same machine. The 310M is a low end card and might be able to push 30fps on low settings. (less if you get the 1680x1050). If your primary aim is gaming i would stick to a Windows machine but if you must have a macbook go with one with the faster 330m GPU (and then put windows on it).

        Macbook pro's use 320m or 330m

        320m is capable of around 5000 3Dmark 06
        330m - 6500-7000 3DMark 06

These are incredibly capable machines for gaming.

I see 2 people neg that comment, if you disagree don't hide behind a neg and post why you think the macbook pro's aren't capable of playing games?

          • @applebyte: I was one of the people who -ve'd you. I never said that it wasn't capable of playing games however you are misleading the OP by suggesting that OSX will have the same performance as Windows in gaming or Starcraft 2. I guess you've implied that they should run Starcraft 2 on Windows since you quote 3d mark 06. (You are aware that this is a Windows/Direct X only benchmark aren't you?). There is a thread on macrumors.com discussing the performance of Starcraft2 and macbook pro's. In short it gets pretty decent performance when using bootcamp (must have copy of windows) and the newest macbook pro's.

Macbook Pro's are great machines. Good build quality/excellent battery life but only a Apple zealot would suggest they are equal gaming machines to windows laptops at the same price point. I'll only respond to WaywardOne on this as it's not a forum.

            • @yargnairod: Ok I'll rephrase it

"These are incredibly capable machines for gaming, when running windows under bootcamp"

I never said that their performance were equal to windows machines for the same price

  • lol wtf… I just bought a Mac Mini. Seems like that don't have that otherwise I'd by shooting myself in the foot.

  • How do you use this link ? The reduced price shows up but when an item is added to the cart it removes the 10% ?

  • sorry, where does it say 10% off on the website

I'll be checking out my nearest DSE store soon and will probably call them and check that this is true

  • +1

can this be used in conjunction with other discounts (for example company discount)?

  • Guys, I've updated the links… should be showing the 10% off now!

  • +1

the main pages are showing 10% off but when you click the item the item still has the extra 10% applied

    • that's strange… maybe this is part of an upcoming deal and dse haven't implemented it yet… this morning it was working fine

      • yeah thats what i kept getting. does this now not include the desktops as that what i was aiming on checking out.

paying these normal prices are just not worth it :P

        • I think it's going to be wait and see… there have been rumours recently of 10% off at dse… and these sales do come around every now and then, so I guess time will tell

There's nothing stopping you from printing out that page and trying your luck at price matching :P

I tried to add one 13"MacBook pro to my cart and cart summary showed $10,894.00 worth of MacBooks. :)

  • Isn't 10% off the same as the EDU pricing?

  • I can't see where this 10% comes from either. The 15inch i7 is still 2768, while edu is 2499. How/Where does this 10% get applied?

The best deal out of all that (if the 10% was there) is probably the 13inch Office+AppleCare bundle…

  • I think it's over

    • ahhhhhhh. f*ck.

Hey Guys, My name is >>>??? and I am a MacBookPro 15.4" owner, and it has been less than 24hours since my last Mac Fix… Guys, 10%off is NOTHING!. Why can t you guys just haggle, trust me' TRY IT, You'll Like it!' (in the words of DJ Lance). I was able to get more than that by getting a price out of the Green Guide (TheAge-Thursdays), and taking this to JB and the Good Guys.. Again trust me, they can do better than 10%off specially on a MacBookPro. I also recently bought a Macmini when the latest models first came out RRP $850.00 got it for $770.00 at JB ( I know..not quite 10%, but this was on an 850.00 machine, not a 2500-3000.00 MBP(not including the 13"MBPs).

  • Hey! That's not nice why -ive me?… BOO :( BOO:( SOB:( SOB:(
