QANTAS to Vancouver Canada Return ex Brisbane $837 @ IWTF

1470

What an insane price, and a real shame it's not available from other cities. Plenty of dates and seats available for travel Oct-Dec. Payment is with a Visa debit card. Price increases to $853 if paying by credit card. Safe travels :)

Putting up the fight to Air Canada's new direct flights from BNE. They did a launch sale for $999 return a couple of days ago.

  • Pwetty cold that time.

after 8 years i knew living in Brisbane would finally pay off.

Hopefully the deals start taking off from now

    • love it hahah

    • we bit cold

  • Have people had a good experience with BestJet though? Mixed reviews online to be honest…

    • +5

I made a few bookings through BestJet and I have never had any problems with them. If you cannot trust them, just print out the quote from Bestjet and visit one of your nearest Flightcentre or STA Travel retail stores for the price beat. Bestjet has an ABN number and they don't charge a fee when you pay by a debit card. So there is no reason that Fightcentre could refuse your request under their policy. You'd save a dollar.

      • +1

Can confirm that Flight Centre beat Best jet as they have an ABN and an Australian presence.

      • +1

Can confirm they'll beat Bestjet. You don't need to go into a store to do it - you can do it over the phone as well.

        • When they price beat on the phone do they do it instantly? Last time the agent told me she has to wait for approval and it would take a few days..she full well knew the seats would sell out as it was around Christmas. This is despite her having all the details in front of her. I thought that was really sus so I told her I'd think about it and just booked with the original site.

        • @poop:

I recently booked flights for Christmas time. The person helping me said that because there was a fairly large difference (around $300pp) between the price on the competitor's website (which she had in front of her - can't be a price you had earlier today, etc. they need to be able to replicate it themselves) and the price in their system, she had to call the products team to get an approval to beat the competitor's price. So she called them, then called me back around 15 minutes after to confirm approval, etc.

I was told that basically the general 1300 number sends your phone call anywhere within your state, so it depends who you get on the other end and how busy they are as to how helpful they are.

        • @dennis.s.s: If i remember correctly it was less than $100 difference, and the girl seemed like she had all the time in the world when she was searching options for me. When it came time to price check i got the "it's going to take up to 48 hours for us to price check and then the seats might not even be available" spiel. This is despite her being able to replicate on her end. It seemed like she was just pressuring me to buy. I know better for next time! thanks!

      • Oh well that sorts that then hey! Good to know!

And for a more convoluted process you can book through Qantas and then claim back the difference in airfare(or just try to call and get them to price match). Obviously it's more hassle but then its a lot easier and cheaper if you need to make any changes to the flight.

  • Great price to Canada, a shame it's for Brisbane only.

  • +1

Wow, that's super cheap. Paid $2,000 a few years ago during the same timeframe. It's super cold, but very worthwhile.

  • Cheap cos during school term and before the snow season. If you go to Vancouver, you probably want to go to Banff.

  • Waiting for some deals that cover new year's. Wouldn't mind flying over in mid December and back in January

    • PM me if you find something over NY!

    auzzies luv vancouver

Anyone see Orcas around Vancouver? I'd love to do one of their zodiac tours.

    • +1

I did a zodiac tour from Vancouver island and it was amazing. The Orca's where maybe 10 meters away and went under the boat and came up the other side. Was truly amazing

      • Awesome! I can't wait :)

  • Anything decent if booking one way? Considering heading over for the season.

  • I did check qantas website and for around $100-150 you can stop over in lax, as the flights go thru LAX, then on to Vancouver on WestJet

    eg

Dept Brisb 18 Oct, then depart LAX Nov 2, then Vancouver to Brisbane (via LAX) 14 Nov = $999 (same dates give $900 with no stop over)
    IWTF might be cheaper.

  • Can anyone explain what QANTAS's motive would be for offering this from Brisbane and not Sydney/Melbourne?

    • +1

Its more visa versa. I understand in Canada that Qantas is promoting Queensland as theideal sunny destination - esp in the Canadian winter.

Air Canada this week commenced direct tri-weekly Dreamliner service (daily from later this month) from Vancouver to Brisbane, this is QF's too-little-too-late attempt to keep them at bay…it's not even direct!

      • lol tlyes too late. what are the prices in dec?

i booked bris to ny via vancouver on air canada for $1080 inc tax in early dec. in all my yrs that's the cheapest price i've seen for ny. bonus is a whistler stopover to ski. hubby is a teacher so we can only travel in peak.

the downside is that ny hotels r the most exxy in dec. Au$500 p/night

Check out AllCity Corporate Housing, I got a really nice studio apartment at Symphony House (prime location W58 & Broadway near the Park / Columbus Circle) for USD$175/night…it even had a balcony!

        • @Sir Casm: wow that's awesome. thank you so much! already sent through a request :)

These Qantas flights via Los Angeles are painful and require you to register for US ESTA and the Canadian equivalent. LAX has got to be one of the worst transfer airports in the world. Also make sure before you book this itinerary that they do NOT make you collect your luggage and then re-check in at LAX, because 3.40 is probably not long enough to catch your connecting flight in a different terminal at LAX

    • I think you have to re-check in your luggage. There is no other way due to the US system. I missed my connection and had to spend 6 hours waiting until the next flight. Another couple on the plane were less fortunate and had to spend a night in LAX.

  • +1

+1 re LAX.. painful is an understatement, last time I went Air NZ via Auckland to Vancouver much easier.

    • +1 re LAX and Auckland…and Air NZ :D

  • Damn… need flights from Perth or nearby city. Been living in Australia for 2 years now and would love to fly back and visit my family/friends for a few weeks near the holidays.

    • +2

A "nearby city" to Perth??? Good luck with that!

      • Adelaide or Melbourne would be a lot cheaper than getting to Brisbane.

  • Anyone know if there is any way to change the dates after you've booked with these services?
