My first post, feel free to comment.

It might not be Eneloop, but I think it's still cheap enough for a high capacity rechargeable batteries.

    How much is delivery?

    • +3

Seems to be $9.95 which kills the deal

      Postage: AU $9.95

I think that should be in the title

Had a bunch of these around home, but after investing in Eneloops, I sold them off cheap at a garage sale. Just didn't have a use for them anymore.

ALDI ACTIV ENERGY Rechargeable LSD Batteries AA 2300mh/AAA 850mAh 4PK $5.99

I don't think these Energizers are low self discharge and the description also says -
"Economical power for heavy drain devices & frequent usage"

      850mAH vs. 2500mAh

      • No for the AA its 2500 vs 2300. 850 is for the AAA

        • My mistake

          2500 vs 2300

          Then ;)

    • Is this a regular Aldi item? Need some AAAs.

      • +1

Yes. They are usually available in the checkouts with the other batteries.

  • The delivery costs needs to be in the title (as it completely kills the "deal"), and Eneloops are well regarded for a reason.

Thanks guys, edited. Delivery cost added. Personally, I bought 5 packs (10 batteries) and the delivery charges came down alright after averaging them out. Need them for RC, so probably don't need them to hold charge for 6 months. My total cost came up as $25.95, and for 10 2500mAh batteries, still cheaper than eneloop. I do have Eneloop for my camera flash, and they are wonderful. But they cost a lot at the same time. And according to reviews, new eneloops are made in China and aren't as good as the Japanese ones anymore.

    • You could of got 16 Aldi Activ Energy LSD Rechargeables for $23.96 in store.

Thanks 28Degrees. I live in Darwin and it's so remote that we do not have an Aldi here. The nearest one to me is just over 3000km (32 hours drive) away. lol

Eneloops or equivalent LSD AA batteries are far superior unless you use your batteries constantly. these ones will be dead flat in a couple of weeks after a full charge.

I will pick up some Aldi packs and send them to you if you want. PM me if you're interested.

        • @klaw81:

Thanks klaw, appreciate the offer. I guess I am good with the non-LSD at the moment, I need something with higher capacity than LSD batteries. My RC is going go through the batteries in no time at all.

Also I was looking for the Aldi batteries review, and some members in whirlpool were doing test on them, and the results are 50-50.

I shall wait for the energizers to die off before getting more batteries. :)

p/s: too much LSD is bad, get a life. :)

        • @klaw81: they won't be dead flat in a few weeks, maybe 6-9mths. I used to have some of these & they'd still have most of their capacity after a few months.

I still prefer the Varta ones, I can charge 2AA x 2500mAh in 20mins, Which is just awesome for toys. I had 2 of them in a remote for ~14mths before they went flat. 15mins in the charger & they're ready to go again.

  • Good deal, but Im waiting for cold fusion.

  • The difference of course being Eneloops wont go flat in storage after a month or if used in low drain devices.
My thinking is the only reason to use non LSD these days is if you need the extra power (I think it's up to 2850mAh) but with LSD's reaching 2550mAh nowadays like the Turnigys (or Eneloop Pros if you've got money to burn) that gap is not such a big deal any more compared to when LSDs topped out at 2000mAh.

    • Quite a few years ago I bought some Energizer rechargeable for my camera. Never again, they would go flat in a week. So you could never have your camera handy you had to preplan your photo taking and charge the batteries.

      Envelops solved that problem.

      • Did you use the Envelops to send back the batteries or the camera itself? Lol

  • Ta op

  • For this much postage cost I think you better buy 15% off from groupon instead of using the 20% off.

  • I have 4 of these AA Energizer 2500mAh…. 1 dead, 3 still working but doesnt retain the charge, will just run out in a week or so. The Aldi ones are better.

  • Are these made in Japan?

I have some 2300mah ones that are, they aren't as good as eneloops but they're not bad, I also have some AAA 800mah ones with the white tops which are just re-badged Sanyo eneloops :)

Mine are made in Japan, and they are lousy.

  • from my experience energizer rechargable were horrible, all of them died within 1 year of intermittent use, better get some LSD one, or even buying alkaline when they're on sale works out cheaper.

  • I use these batteries they have been going strong 4 years, they do lose charge if you leave them lying about too long though. The delivery is a killer, maybe if I order lots …
